  • Delivery came early for this 78 Bronco Ranger XLT, let take a look at this old Bronco.
    Was it worth the risk?
It sure was, even better than I thought, I was lucky enough to have bought from an honest seller!

It has great bones - solid floors, solid frame, front fenders, interior is mostly good, etc. I think you did well. The floor of my younger son's car looked like that. You're not going to believe this, but we wire brushed it and hit it with Rustoleum Rust Convertor. Couple years later it still looks good. Looking forward to seeing the quarter panel installation. Happy Easter and thanks for sharing ~ Chuck

I'm very pleased with this Bronco, there is always a worry when you buy a vehicle you haven't looked at before paying. In this case, I could see the parts value was enough to cover the asking price.
I did the same thing with my yellow 79 ford, gave it a light sanding, and then hit it with rust converter...that was in 2017, needs to be redone now, but I was impressed.

Hey Alvin. Looks like you came out pretty good on this purchase. The underside was in great shape.for that vehicle. It looks like you still have a lot of body work to do but that isn't so bad. Looks like a good project and a good find.

It is a solid Bronco, I'm pleased with it, clearly it's not a turn key purchase. Lol
When I saw this one come up on Marketplace, I started looking at the price of these old Broncos, I wasn't long contacting the seller, and I feel he was very honest about the condition...maybe even made it sound worse than it is.

    Hiya Alvin!
Your new project looks like my father in laws one he sold years ago, same color and everything. I’m gonna guess one of the previous owners might have been American with the red white and blue color scheme lol. All of our vehicles (as you may already know) have that MPH and KPH speedometer set up (came in handy when we were stationed in Germany with our Durango).
Looks like a good project to start from, personally I like to see the T- bird. But I’ll watch your videos regardless.
    Happy Easter

Lol...yes, it sure does have that patriotic color scheme going on!
Once I get the Bronco running and moving, I'll be doing both T-bird and Bronco videos...the T-bird rust repairs are getting close to complete, so I can't stop now.

Hello Alvin. Not too bad rust wise. No hood?
Hope you can find one in good condition.

Hey George, it came with a hood, and it's in decent shape...I forgot to mention the hood, we set it in the yellow truck for now, I also have an extra hood in rust free condition left over from the yellow truck rebuild.

    Alvin,
You and I are rust brothers. We won't buy anything that doesn't have rust. Who in their right mind would ever want to do that?
    Regards,
    John

Lol...I don't know about you, but I can't afford those sleek, shiny vehicles, so I'm stuck buying the bottom of the barrel! 😉

Another one! When is Bev going to cut you off this Ford addiction. ;)
That transmission pump looks like its been exposed awhile. A bit of caution in that area. Could be rusty inside plus water in there.

Yes, another one! BTW, this was bought with her full approval, she loves these old Bronco's, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up keeping this one for her.
The oil in the transmission is so clean, I would hate to drop the pan, but water has been a concern, maybe I'll pull a sample with a suction pump, and see if any water comes up...the rust is definitely in need of a cleaning, can have that running on the bushing. I do have an extra shaft, maybe even just swap it out.
