This game is such an ...absolute..masterpiece. This is the game we dreamed of as kids in the late 80s and into the 90s. I hope there will be more games like this from here on out but I doubt that will happen. The gaming industry has become a cesspool of greed but luckily we have companies like Larian (and a couple of others) that still makes games for the love of gaming. If anyone from Larian happens to read this, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. And thanks for this upload DanAllenGaming, you earned another sub.
This game, hands down, is an absolute master piece. I have not been this engrossed in a game since playing Dragon Age Origins for the first time. I love this game to pieces, I have already planned my next several campaigns.
The fact that I found this area so overwhelming is a testament to its scale and authenticity. I truly felt like I'd just stepped into a city; this major trading hub. And for the first time in the game, it was like there was too much for me to simply save and do over. It is a unique experience every time.
Adam Smith, lead writer…. There aren’t words to express how amazing of a job he did. And the rest of the writers, devs and actors. Genuinely never seen more heart put into any other game.
I entered the city, got lost, got overwhelmed and started a new character. Got to the city and... well I have 4 characters who started act 3. I have no idea where to go from there. lol. Orin is my favorite villain so far! Ketheric's delivery of lines though is unmatched. The pure weight of the voice of the actor; the cadence, the simple straight through control just feels epic.
full performance capture is extremely expensive, basically the same cost as a small-scale film shoot. look into how the Avatar movies are made if you wanna learn more about it, though that's a more extreme version where it literally is a full on normal film shoot with all the actors together. whereas you would be shocked how little voice actors make, and VA sessions can be done very quickly. and to do full performance capture you need somebody who is a normal trained actor and not just a VA. BG3 is by probably an order of magnitude the largest game ever to use it, and it's only used for some stuff (there is 180 hrs of cinematics after all). but the amount of mocap they have is truly insane, there are rpgs 1/5 the size of this that only use algorithmic stuff for conversations (although that can be done well, the witcher 3 for example). going from this to starfield is like going from a real conversation to a wax museum
@@QGfk1 what you say is true, but all these AAA companions can 100% do it with the amount of money they make from mtx. The sad thing is they don’t want to because they want to spend little resources in making their games. Only a few would do mocap voice work. CdPr, fromsoft, Larien and rockstar are few that would
13:40 I absolutely love this - it isn't just whether they like or dislike your choices and will follow you aimlessly, they react so well to things and sometimes they want something, and you can try to talk them out of it, but they can just say basically F**k you, it's my decision.
I think it is a natural outgrowth of their approach where everyone is not a companion but an 'origin character', who can themselves be the protagonist. but you're right I've never seen party members with so much agency. I think the last few well-written bioware games (DA2 and DA:I) actually did a good job of that. and those had one advantage of characters having real preferences instead of being playersexual/pansexual, which is the only thing that homogenizes everyone in BG3 a bit. I would love to see another RPG like DA2 that isn't a save-the-world-adventure but follows peoples' lives over years, and how it works the party into that is interesting. and it has probably the craziest thing any party member has ever done in a game, which you have no influence over
Haven't finished the game yet but after meeting Orin I talked to so many npc's and I was like "you're Orin, aren't you?" and half the time I was right, haha!
Most of the VA's are legendary performers, Matt Mercer who voiced Minsc is the dungeon master of Critical Role and their web series made into an animated series called "The Legend of Vox Machina". He is also the VA for McCree in Overwatch.
BG 3 is probably the most amazing game I have ever played. Seeing the passion that this entire team had for their project shows me how it got to this point. Larian I have been a gamer for 40 years and your game consistently blows my mind. This game reminds me of that sense of wonder and imagination gaming USED to invoke with me as a kid, so thank you Larian for making me feel that way again
I’m not even a gamer, just someone who occasionally watches game play throughs on RUclips so I can enjoy the storytelling. I never thought I would be into something like this, but holy shit I’m beyond impressed. I’ll never play the game myself, but every play through I’ve watched so far has blown my mind! Incredible game. You know it’s good when a non gamer has fallen in love with it. (Also, team shadowheart, baby!!!!!)
I can pick his voice out pretty easily most of the time due to the amount of Critical Role I watch, but he's totally able to pull one over on even long time viewers. If I'd heard Victor the Blackpowder Merchant out of context, I'd have never guessed.
The writing and characters are superb. But I must admit, the cinematics and all the dialog in the game that was voiced won me over because I do a lot of reading at work so having this being voiced was so good. Less reading in a game lol
These guys make my heart happy. Not just a game but they genuinely exude a sense of fun excitement and comradeship. They seem to really enjoy their work and I've not heard a peep of gossip that there are the common troubles rife in the industries. Their fun with eschother and their work makes the game uplifting to play, and exciting.
Can’t remember ever giving a damn about who was involved in making a game and how it was done in 20 years… until this one. That’s something! Amazing work of art from everyone involved. 👏
This game is insane. When the guy says "when you reach Baldur's gate, and you will very soon" I was like, well I've bean playing on my first playthrough for 135h and I just reach the outside of the city. There's some much things happening in this experience and I love every second of it
Same bro, by the time I was in the city I was touching 120 something hours, max leveled just fucking off as true heroes should, going around saving shit. 😅
I’m completely obsessed with this game. I can’t thank Larian and the entire team enough for creating this masterpiece. I feel like I need to buy it twice… three times… the replayability is infinite.
Seeing that I haven’t gotten out of act 1 yet (making sure that I get everything possible) it’s fun to know that eventually I’ll run into Lady D again.
I've started playing on computers in the 80's with my old Sinclair ZX81, and until now, I've never met such a game like Baldur's gate 3. The Bard's tales, Eyes of the Beholder, BG1 and 2, Skyrim, Fallout(s), Witcher(s), were great games but this one is on another level.
This game is a masterpiece, beyond anything an ordinary gamer like myself could even fathom would grace our fingertips. When I tell you Ive played over 360 hours and still get chills from the Ketheric Thorm speech and fight each time. I play the entire scene when Myrkul gets summoned. Orin makes me uneasy, makes my blood curdle, like I am nothing but blood and flesh ready to be torn and blistered at her leisure with no other purpose than her pleasure. Gortash seems like he is 10 steps ahead of everyone and honestly I was intimidated from fighting him so I didnt interact much with him lol. I hurried to demolish the steel legion and his fight was a bit lack luster. All of the companions feel like real people with real ties to the world. The conversations feel so alive as if they would play out in real life. Hiding behind giggles or intimidation tactics so you don't get too close or just eager to get close right away like the big sweetie Karlach who hasn't been able to embrace anyone for years. You have to be extremely talented to be able to express superior acting only through voice lines. I just cant explain it enough myself but excellence to the highest degree
I feel like Act3 was a little bit lacking in content but then again, it's already super huge. Act3 for me was just like...I just want to end this to do a re-run. Great work! I love it!
BG3 is an incredible game. The story telling, design, freedom of choices, art, music, and acting felt so real. Everything felt like it was touched by love for the craft.
Everytime i learn more about Baldur's Gate, how it was made and the thought that went into it continues to blow my mind more. This game seems to have nearly infinite possibilities, and while I know it is limited, the amount of things you can do is amazing. I still love staying in the dark about choices and different outcomes because it juts means I'll hopefully be surprised by things my next playthrough! I imagine almost no playthrough can be the same, though many similar.
That sequence with Mike Mearls hits home some much harder now that the lay offs have swept away a lot of D&D talent becuase of Hasbro's other screwups. What is clear from this skit is Larian delivered and then some. Baldur's Gate 3 is a stone-cold classic.

CdPr, fromsoft, Larien and rockstar are few that would
The 2 Norse God of War Games had this, and it does make an amazing difference.

Larian is King of games. BG3 is probably in the top 3 best games ever made
That Lawrence guy is probably the first time I've seen a videogame writer that really does look like a writer.
Most of the VA's are legendary performers, Matt Mercer who voiced Minsc is the dungeon master of Critical Role and their web series made into an animated series called "The Legend of Vox Machina". He is also the VA for McCree in Overwatch.
such an amazing cast, im still not over oogling over this game and I dont think I ever will stop
They could not have pick anybody better for any role than who they picked.
Old school BG fan.
Even older D&D player, and i give it the Chef's Kiss.
After playing this game for well over two hundred hours..I have a profound respect for the developers and writers involved with this project.
5:00 I just realized she's the same voice actor of Lady Dimitrescu
same XD
2/2, she's on a run
and Astarion is Heisenberg
@@RealArcalian Holy, I actually didn't realize this until I saw your comment
I’m not even a gamer, just someone who occasionally watches game play throughs on RUclips so I can enjoy the storytelling. I never thought I would be into something like this, but holy shit I’m beyond impressed. I’ll never play the game myself, but every play through I’ve watched so far has blown my mind! Incredible game.
You know it’s good when a non gamer has fallen in love with it.
(Also, team shadowheart, baby!!!!!)
These Voice actors are amazing. Their talents have kept me immersed in the game. I believe a good portion of the game's success is thanks to them.
Damn, Matt did justice to Minsc's voice for sure.
I did _not_ know Matt Mercer was in this game. As if I wasn’t already incredibly impressed!
You can actually kind of hear it in some soft-spoken lines, but Matt is a really versatile voice actor when you see his resumé !
You could say Ketheric Thorm was truly "Invincible"
He said play “Astarion or a vampire”. Makes me wish they could have actually worked a way for us to be one at the beginning of the game 🥺
The voice acting in this game is insane! Congratulation and thank you Larian for creating this masterpiece!
Im so thankful that Larian released this Masterpiece.
I listened to different actors for a few seconds, and then I put a like! Guys, these are great voices and great work with voices! Bravo!
This game just took GOTY from Zelda TotK
Not gonna lie, seeing the city so beautifully realized felt amazing as a long time dnd player. Seeing the realms so perfectly realized was incredible.
Damn I hope Larian do another D&D game, they went all out with this release.
BG3 taught an entire industry how it’s done!
THESE PEOPLE ARE LEGENDS!!!! THANKS LARIAN!
BG 3 is my favorite game since Mass Effect 1 and 2. You can see the passion in the staff eyes. Bravo, Larian! And keep it up!
I’m completely obsessed with this game. I can’t thank Larian and the entire team enough for creating this masterpiece. I feel like I need to buy it twice… three times… the replayability is infinite.
How is it that you get such exclusive content? I feel that this should be on the official Larian-channel. Love all your interviews as well!
All of these videos are from the Larian channel. Some of them are really old.
Seeing that I haven’t gotten out of act 1 yet (making sure that I get everything possible) it’s fun to know that eventually I’ll run into Lady D again.
Hope you enjoy it toroughly. Its the most polished part of the game. The rest will leave a bad aftertaste
Update since I posted this… still in act 1
After seeing an old man as an Expert Writer I understand why the game is so amazing!
17:34 omg that's so cool to see this scene like this
Thank you larian and team this is an absolute gem
Now when I play the game I can only think of the VA face instead of the characters. They truly brought everything to life
The moment Matt shows up the world is always more adventurous and okay.
0:23 At some point, we just said "Can't we just connect everything??" -- Bethesda, please take note. It can be done, and you should have done it.
Thank you everyone at Larian for making such an amazing game. I will never forget it or forget what all of you have done. Eternal gratitude.
I feel like Act3 was a little bit lacking in content but then again, it's already super huge. Act3 for me was just like...I just want to end this to do a re-run. Great work! I love it!
Perhaps I should finish my first playthrough before I watch any more of this 👀
That knockout legitimately surprised me, great skit.😂
Sucks they never let the actors work ALONGSIDE each other.
A tonne of their performances were filmed during lockdown, hence the distance.
I love how this team wiped the floor with their "competition" triple A studios
BG3 is an incredible game. The story telling, design, freedom of choices, art, music, and acting felt so real. Everything felt like it was touched by love for the craft.
Oh shit, Maggie Robertson (who played Lady Dimitrescu in RE8) played Orin The Red in BG3? Never noticed.
The city definitely blew me away. The moment I entered Act 3, I could not get over how beautiful it looked.
That sequence with Mike Mearls hits home some much harder now that the lay offs have swept away a lot of D&D talent becuase of Hasbro's other screwups. What is clear from this skit is Larian delivered and then some. Baldur's Gate 3 is a stone-cold classic.
I had no idea how many famous actors performed for this game wow.
My jaw literally dropped when i finally entered the lower city proper for the first time. Been chasing that high ever since.
