      From the ones shown here, I only played Detroit Become Human and Baldur's Gate 3, but he did do amazing job, especially as Astarion (Gavin and Kamski don't get much screen time but they were solid, too). I totally didn't connect Astarion with Kamski/Gavin, which goes to show his range of voice acting, I suppose :D

      Depends on which actor, like for example Neil does mocaps even for characters that he is not voicing in game. He is voice and mocap actor

    • @Mewobiba
      @Mewobiba 8 месяцев назад +147

      No, calling someone a "voice actor" is not an insult; it's an incredibly important task as part of any voiced animation work. Mo-cap actors doing a ton of mo-cap work doesn't in any way diminish all the work voice actors do voicing characters. And some people, like Neil Newbon, have talents in both fields. But even those that focus solely on one of the fields, eg Tara Strong or Nancy Cartwright, are no less worthy of respect.

    • @Sigurjon96
      @Sigurjon96 5 месяцев назад +4

      Praising Neil for his outstanding diverse voice acting skills is considered an insult for you? Not everyone knows he does mocap and stunt work as well. I learned about him in Detroit: Become Human as Gavin & Kamski and then Resident Evil: Village as Heisenberg my favorite character in that game. Calling people out like this for recognizing his incredible voices he puts into his characters is as ignorant, rude and hypocritical as being easily offended over a simple compliment. If we go by your statement then no voice actors are getting any validations in the future for their hard and challenging work they do in games. Congratulations to Neil for his performance award at The Game Awards. So well deserved. Beautiful speech too. Astarion and Neil rocks. Voice acting is so much more difficult and harder to do than people generally think it is. Parkour and gymnastics are cool and impressive like shown here but Neil gave his heart and soul into this performance and deserves every bit of praise he can get. You have to be on another level to be a successful and a very talented voice actor. VA is one of the hardest thing ever to do takes a lot of talent, skill, hard work and effort to perform and play so many vastly different personas and personalities. It’s definitely not an easy job to do it’s underappreciated and undervalued.

    From someone's who enjoyed Neil's performance as Heisenberg and now Astarion, it's really surprising and exciting to see how much work he's actually doing in projects. I figured he was just another talented actor who is familiar enough with Mocap to excel in it but seeing all the extensive stunt work and exhausting movements he's doing gives me a greater appreciation on just how much work Neil is doing and how much we effort we might forget goes into things into Mocap. "like most ladies i really love the way astarion is depicted as a character"
      and a *lot* of guys with a penchant for flamboyance :P
      Astarion might not be the greatest person, but he sure as hell is the most 'primally attractive' (I'd say hottest, but Karlach's got that term on pretty hard lockdown), and a lot of that comes down to Neil's acting.
      And also yeah, this video got me interested in playing a whole bunch of games that'd never even cross my mind to try out otherwise. He just is that compelling in his acting.

    Oh, look at that, my new favorite dude in entertainment comes with his own hype video.
    Kinda makes you realize how physically intense motion capture is. I always envisioned it being like... I dunno, just making faces and walking around in weird, dotty pjs or something.
    Also, I've played so many of those games and I never realized so many memorable characters are voiced by the same person. Such a range, wow.

    Well I guess you now need to add all your new awards to this reel, and they are well deserved too. I only know your work on BG3 as Astarian and that is exceptional work. I loved watching this reel of your work and have an even bigger appreciation for your talent (if that was possible). All those stunts and fight choreography on top of amazing voice talent! Hollywood shouldbe knocking at your door for the next James Bond!

    The actors that have to work in games or heavy CG have to have the best imagination to be able to "interact" with the environment that's not there. It's so cool.

    Oh wow Neil was that guy in Kingsglaive?! I love FFXV, and my focus was on Luna and Noctis's dad, but I remember thinking wow for a newly introduced side character that has limited screentime, he made an impression. I was rooting for him in the end. I'm so glad Astarion led me to discover Neil's incredible talent😊

    Neil Newbon is the most awesome voice actor ever. He always kills every performance. So much charisma, charm, wittiness and personality poured into his personas. Does excellent motion capture for games. Also seems like someone who would be super fun to hang out with because he's energetic and happy as hell. I enjoy seeing passionate incredible talented individuals get the best work because they deserve it. Neil is very likable. Heisenberg is easily one of the most intriguing characters.
    This montage is absolutely beautiful and brilliant. Imagine getting Neil, Troy Baker and Nolan North in a title together as the leads. That would be amazing. It's so nostalgic to see this. Neil Newbon is simply inspirational and severely underrated. Good-looking and athletic too. Love his characters. Nothing but respect for his hard work and dedication to video game fans. Keep rocking on. Thank you Neil for being you. You are an undying epic legend. Such a great man.
