If you owe money and you cannot repay it, your debt will be sold by the company you owe money to, to a debt collection company who will come to your house and evaluate the items you have in your home and take those items away up to the total of what you owe. What's really fucked is the person who owes the money, for example, say you owe £500, the bailiffs will take goods to the value of that amount but also you are charged a call-out fee for them taking the time to invade your home so they will end up taking more like £600-£620. I know this because I once had a job as a bailiff and quit after one day when I was told to go to one old ladies (this old dear was like 95) house who owed money and she had literally nothing in her crib except a TV, an armchair and a bed. On mumsie I paid her fine (it was literally like £45) because I can't ever see no grandma be harassed like that. The older people like that have no idea when it comes to technology and the money she owed was a ULEZ fine, like anyones nana is gonna be able to comprehend these new green laws. She's been driving her car for like 50 years and one day now she has to pay? Absolute predatory behaviour, the company expected me to lick this old dears TV from the yard? Never that. This was like 15 years ago so she's probably long gone but I'm happy she got to watch Bargain Hunt and Emmerdale until she went. RIP Mrs Dunphy.
