I've always thought of hob as a newer word for stove or stove top as my gran would have called it. But as with most slangs it comes from the community that uses it, it's source can become blurred and altered as time moves on.

The thing is, over the last few years because of watching more Americans reacting to UK rap, I've been brushing up on my cockney rhyming slang and 'Kettle' just happens to be a favourite. Just a quick Google search will show ya! 👍 Oh and the only place you can actually produce Scotch is in Scotland. Outside of Scotland it can only be called Whiskey. Or Whisky in Ireland.
