Bro I’m 19 right now and I cannot imagine what she went through and how much she gave up that must have been heart wrenching, it really must have. You’d have to do something like that for someone you really love, LILO is the luckiest girl
I get so offended whenever people say that Frozen is the best sister relationship Disney has ever made. Just, no. Lilo and Nani are absolute sister goals forever.
Seriously. Elsa and Anna aren't a good relationship. They love each other, but don't know each other at all because there was always a wall or door between them for most of their lives. In the time between the first and second movie, they had to get to know each other. In the second movie, they were barely together. Anna was obsessed with Elsa to the point of not living for herself at all until she was forced to step out of the cave and take things on for herself. Her arc was great, but their relationship isn't strong yet.
Actually both movies show sibling love as it's finest however we had to remember frozen had a little difference in that it's more adult style sibling relationship, the reason I could understand it is because I was an adult when it came out but it's still at the level I could understand that it's a different dynamic. I think it really depends on the person.
I really feel for Nani. After their parents died, she's had to make a lot of sacrifices to take care of Lilo, really had to grow up fast. I wish Lilo would have been more appreciative of Nani
@@jessicathompson236 Very true. However, Lilo's way of striking out was problematic. Hilarious but problematic. Actually nailed her sister our of the house *shaking my head*
Well she was just a kid right? She didn’t know what Nani was doing for her, she never knew what she had to sacrifice, once she grows up she will understand! When you’re a kid you just don’t fully understand situations
Honestly, I agree 100%. Nani took on the roles and responsibilities of a parent without question! She did her absolute best to raise her sister and never complained. She never looked for outside help but she never made it seem like it was harder than it Could have been. Nani showed true maturity like a champion!! Honestly I don’t know if I could do it she did especially at her age. Sometimes I don’t feel mature enough for myself and I’m 24!!! But I respect her and I love that they show this in a Disney film. The sisterly bond along with the balance that she had to maintain is extremely difficult. I’m glad that the movie didn’t sugarcoatOr make it seem like things were all peachy. They did a great job and that is one of the reasons why I will always love this movie!!
I won't pick any of them because both are very great sister Elsa distanced herself to protect her sister so she wouldn't hurt her with her powers while Nani raised her sister after her parents death and was willing to do anything for her both of them sacrifice their happiness for the sake of their little sisters.
Even as a kid, I always wanted sister like her. She seems like someone you could always come to for advice. Wish Nani got more attention, she deserves it. 🍸
I think what Nani did for her family was one of the most important things she could do and it took a lot of strength to put her goals on hold so that she could give her sister the life she deserved
Nani was by far my favorite Disney character. Her struggles were more realistic the any other character . She was more selfless then any other Disney princess .
She needed lilo just as much as lilo needed her. I wouldn't want my only family left to be shipped off to social services if I could help it.... My sister and I have a relationship very similar to them both and she was about the same age as Nani when our mum fell ill. I call her Nani because of it. Lilo and Stitch is my favourite movie because of it. It helped her broach the subject of our broken family and how difficult it was for her to raise me- knew from a very young age that my sister was someone who'd love me unconditionally. Now being 20, I would do the same for her as she did for me in a heartbeat 😊
I am an older sister myself. I sacrificed going back to school so that my younger sister can go to school full time. This made me sentimental.😭 thank you!!
Man, this has me bawling. After my parents got sick, I obtained legal guardianship of my 2 younger sisters when I was 22. I can't think of a character anywhere else that I relate to more than Nani and this tribute was beautiful.
You’re an absolute angel 💕 My parents are abusive so I always wished I could be like Nani for my little sisters, but I’m too unstable like Lilo. Just knowing you’re out there somewhere and that you managed gives me hope I can keep trying to be a better sister for them
John Campea said that Lilo and Stitch doesn’t deserve a live action because it wasn’t a good movie nor does it have a huge following 😤😤😤 Bitch!!! Lilo and Stitch is iconic and forever will be and yes maybe a live action won’t live up to our expectations but this masterpiece of a movie does in fact have a huge following and brings back childhood memories.
CinemaSins wouldn’t, unfortunately. Thiti2000 defended that the most about CinemaSins, as one of those people that have too much credit for wanting to kill us because we didn’t like Frozen (2013) more than Lilo & Stitch (2002) at all. Another great reason that Mertle Edmonds worshipper was brutally terminated from RUclips!!
I have always said and will continue to say that Nani is the strongest female representation Disney has ever created. People wanna talk about Elsa, but she runs away from responsibility and sings a song. Nani literally gives up EVERYTHING to take care of Lilo, while SHE’S STILL GRIEVING HERSELF, and turning down the guy she likes to be a better guardian. Nani is just the best
"Where we love to talk about fun things!" *Makes an entire heart breaking video about Nani's losses, and the sacrifices that she not only made but also sacrifices she was willing to make.*
Nani reminds me so much of my big sister, my sister gave everything to raise me when our parents divorced and both of them drank and got drugged up all the time to care about raising us themselves. She is so strong, and so inspirational, I love my sister for giving everything to help me become the person I am today.
Nani and Lilo shows a real sister dynamic, unlike some other Disney movies cough cough Frozen. Nani did everything in her power to take care for Lilo, and recognized when she couldn't. She could have flipped out and blamed everyone for her situation, but she didnt. She stepped up to the plate and faced it head on, putting Lilo first. She could have acted her age, gone out and partied every night, been with David (because she admits she likes him), but she doesnt. That shows her true character. Is she perfect? No, shes 19. She's still trying to figure out her own life, but in that, she's doing her best to do what is best for Lilo, a loving home with someone that Lilo already knows and trusts. And that is Ohana. And dont get me started on David. David deserves a lot more respect and recognition than he gets. Being there for Nani, patiently and respectfully. Not a lot of 19-20 year old boys do that.
True facts!! No wonder this franchise (before it got anime franchises to milk the franchise and ruin Stitch’s adventures by rehashing the original Lilo & Stitch universe) rocks!!!
Nani is a big part of why Lilo and Stitch is my favorite Disney movie ever, and one of my favorite movies period. She stepped up big at such a young age and was so selfless in how she did so.
Nani did her best so she could care for Lilo. I think sometimes Lilo forgets that. But when Plekley and Jumba come along she can kinda have time to herself.
Shaniafan1 Lilo can be so in her own world that she doesn’t realise the real world ramifications, and Nani enables it because she’d lose Lilo as a sister if she tried to make her realise the gravity of their situation. This ends up fuelling a vicious cycle in Nani’s battle with social services, where people like Cobra Bubbles don’t appreciate to accept the context behind Lilo’s weird behaviour (she’s trying to use voodoo in revenge when Cobra is inspecting) but Nani can’t bring herself to explain this to Lilo, since people like Myrtle already make Lilo insecure. Even without the alien visitation Nani would likely have lost the fight eventually.
💛: Nani the greatest big sister as well as guardian could ever wish for! Her determination as well putting her family first Against All Odds shows that. I hope everyone who lived with this movie like i did knows! if not i will say it Nani is and ALWAYS be the Greatest and THE MOST AMAZING person anyone could wish to be in hard times. Her fight and determination shows it all.
Honestly Nani is so inspirational to me. She’s such a strong character and she’s the reason I was able to think of myself as beautiful despite having thick thighs.
Great video, Nani reminds me of a parent. She gives up everything for Lilo, puts her sister's needs/wants before her own, and is both stern and loving to Lilo. These are all things a parent does and even though I think Nani misses what she gave up, she doesn't regret anything because she gets to stay with Lilo. I love how Nani puts her family before anything (friends, romance, work, etc.), there are all kinds of shows/movies out now where the main character focuses more on their friends and boy/girlfriend than they do with family. That also happens in real life sadly, it's nice seeing someone putting family first.
Edit: Nani should be awarded as best sister ever! I myself am the youngest of my siblings and couldn't imagine being in that situation unless I somehow become a single parent! ^^;
People hyping that Frozen is the original disney movie that represents sisterhood. Pls Lilo and Nani is first! Sidenote anyone notice Mulan reference in Lilo and Stitch!!
I raised my younger sister since the age of fifteen and I remember back then watching this movie with her and crying so much because I could see my struggles in Nani's. I too lost all of my friends, my boyfriend, could barely finish highschool because the teachers heard of my story and decided they were going to help me. Nani is my favourite princess, she is the strongest, I just wish she could've gone back to surfing at some point. I'm going to college now that my sister graduated, I'm a bit older than my classmates but it's my dream.
6:27 Wait what?! That just registered in my head...she was 19? I always assumed She was like 22 or something but regardless Nani is an amazing character...and she put up with all that...why isn’t she pointed to as one of the best female Disney characters? I think that’s a bit of an injustice right there...actually stuff it, she deserves to be named greatest Disney character of all time! They created a very compelling character and instead focus on some princess singing about their selfish desires?! Nani really does deserve more praise...I’d rather have 1 Nani story as opposed to 100 pointless pretty princes stories
Nani is one of the best disney ladies out there as she sacrifices so much just so her sister has a good life and it is so inspiring. David is also such a breath of fresh air as far as male characters go as even though he clearly longs for a more romantic relationship with Nani, he openly supports her and Lilo, standing by them and it's clear all he wants is for Nani to be happy. Lilo and Stitch had such good wonderful characters and it will always be my favourite disney movie.
Nani is seriously one of the most admirable characters in an animated childrens movie if you ask me. Like he just said she sacrificed EVERYTHING for lilo. Also this is one of the few animated movies for children ive seen where a surprisingly realistic depiction of the kind of difficult situations and home lives that people are ACTUALLY living in all over the country and even the world. I think its a positive thing for children to see that life isnt always peaches and rainbows it helps them to understand that its okay that there are conflicts or differences in their personal home lives too and it's not something to feel ashamed or insecure about.
This movie always makes me cry! My sister dropped out of high school to raise me at 17 when I was a few months old. She forever will be my Nani! Nani and Lilos relationship reminds me so much of me and my sisters
Truly I think Nani is one of the best character in the Disney universe. Truly inspiring every time she's on screen. Thank you for making me love her even more
Oh god this might make me cry. She is working so so hard. I wish lilo understood how much work it takes for Nani to do this. She must be so tired. Ahhhhh Lilo is so lucky.
Nani always felt more like a mother than anything to me when I would grow up watching the movie and show. Even through I knew she was her sister, she always felt like just more than that.
When you realise that Lilo and Stitch one of Disney's darker films. Nani had a dream but it was destroyed after losing her parents, but she carried on so to raise her little sister. Such emotional storytelling.
Wow, that's sisterly love. Interesting comparing Elsa and Anna with Lilo and Nani. I wasn't a huge fan when L and S came out, but grew to like it. I also love David's character. He's beyond understanding and patient.
THANK YOU!! Lilo and Stitch is one of my all time favorite movies and it’s so great that you put some context into Nani’s story P.S. I love your videos
Wow, when you think about it, Nani wasn't the only one who made sacrifices. Jumba and Pleakley put themselves in a dangerous position for an fugitive they were trying to catch, and for a couple of humans that they only gotten know near the end of the movie. Because family is selfless. :)
Theory Idea Disney Fairies: Can Fairies be banned from Pixie Hollow? /// What happens when Fairies are 'fired' from their jobs? This comes from Disney Fairies: The Pirate Fairy. Zarina was 'fired' and it was her choice to leave but I had these two questions. I hope you find time to further read into this!
I never gave any real thought into just how much Nani gave up, to make sure Lilo could have a normal life. If mindset was younger, even then, I could not deal with the amount of pressure and trials Nani endured. She is a testament to the human spirit, which I believe that Walt Disney was trying to show, through his animated shows and movies. He knew what he was doing.
As a big sister with a 16 age gap, this video gets me into tears. I love my sister although we are half blood. My dad treated me differently so I left home to find a stable job with a scholarship. I may never be at home, but during those visiting moments I can relate to nani more and more, knowing that one day there may be a time where I have to guide her instead. I don't have much trophies or even recognition, as my passion is towards creating art and my dream is to start a family. I grew up without my biological father and being ignored emotionally by my family and moving constantly from one environment to the other. I know my sister is in good hands right now, but whenever she looks up and admires me, I feel like a loser. But i still want to be there for her. I don't want our father to keep on bringing me down repeatedly just because I did something horrible in the past and not seeing that I've actually changed. I don't want my sister to be treated the way I am treated, and he makes sure of that. I just hope she won't grow up to become a spoilt brat tho...
Nani's Lullaby to Lilo in the hammock *(known as Aloha 'Oe which means: Farewell to Thee)* always makes me cry. You can see and hear how scared and sorrowful she is at the notions of not being able to watch her grow up and be there for her. As a sister of five children, I know how it feels to even consider the thought of loosing them. Also, Aloha 'Oe, was written and composed by Hawaii's last monarch, and only queen regent of the Hawaiian kingdom, Queen Liliuokalani.
when my dad died when i was 12 and I had two younger siblings I felt in a lot of ways I was thrust into the same possition and when i watched lilo and stich I identified so much with Nani she felt so real, and knew she understood what it was like what I was going through and even more. And unless you've gone through that cercomstance it's imposible for one to know just how insainly protective it makes you of your younger siblings, and how you feel you are never good enough. Even the bad aspects of getting frustrated and shouting I understood and always feel bad for, when trying to teach them and they don't listen or, trying to keep them safe and they get hurt, because they wont listen and then still feeling it's your choice.
I've always felt much love and respect for Nani. Especially now that I'm in a situation very much like hers. About two years ago my brother committed suicide and left his just born premature twin boys what's an unfit mother. So my parents took custody. I've spent the last two years help taking care and raising these boys. In April of this year my father was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. With my mother taking care of my father is mainly up to me take care of my two nephews. I had to drop out of college and put my life on hold and also stop pursuing my love of Art for these two little boys. I'm 19 going on 20 and I totally understand what Nani had to go through even though I still have both of my parents , I know what it's like to lose member of your family and now confronting the fact that I might lose another member of my family. I've always loved Lilo & Stitch but now that I can relate to the movie even more it's one very very close to my heart. There is never been a character that I related to more than Nani.

I WOULD NOT STAND A CHANCE! as of now if i were to be within that kind of situation. though i would be inexperienced at first, i would know what to do over time and maybe learn to keep my temper in check. and the analysis that nani had to give up her dreams, relationships, and competitive light shows that she is a model sister in that situation
The oldest child almost always have to forget his/her dreams to make way for the younger/youngest sibling/s. And the latter almost always don't understand what the former have to go thru....
I've heard at least two critics review this movie and they all come to the consensus that Nani and Lilo's relationship is the highlight of the film, and for very good reason. What Nani did for Lilo was impressive to say the least. And interestingly if you check Stitch the anime spinoff, Lilo may actually have repaid her in some way.
Just recently bough the Blu-Ray of Lilo and Stitch. It's absolutely one of my favorite Disney movies. So much nostalgia and the realism is wonderful. Thank you for all your videos, dude. Keep it up. Greetings to all of you! Spread happiness
Nani is undoubtedly the most human character disney has ever made, as unlike disney sisters and brothers including elsa and anna none of them surpass nani's well-written personality as she really represents what it's like to be an older brother and that everything has sacrifices when fate gives you a bad move
Nani is literally one of my favorite Disney characters. She didn’t save China or anything like that, but she did everything she could to support Lilo and ensure her happiness, even if it meant setting so much of her own aside. It meant being open minded to her little sister’s interests, and explaining things in ways she’d understand (the vampire manager thing really set that ahead). She was passionate, caring and loving, and while she might not be as much a part of the alien battle shenanigans, she has her own hero’s journey, with which she answered the call when she had to step up and take care of her sister.
Oh my god Nani I love you. I titally get where she comes from with her dedication and love for her sister. Having siblings I would give anything to keep them safe and happy. Nani steps up like a boss and faces all the struggles.

Bro I’m 19 right now and I cannot imagine what she went through and how much she gave up that must have been heart wrenching, it really must have. You’d have to do something like that for someone you really love, LILO is the luckiest girl
Meliza DeBelen, A friend of mine took over raising her 10 year old sister and 15 year old brother at 19 when their mom died. She was also a new mom.
She so mature
Bubbles: You’re not the best guardian for Lilo
Nani: NANI?!!!!
Lilo: your nani
Lol!
I had the same thought. Was going to post we I saw this.
Bubbles: omae wa moi shindeiru
I knew I'd find a joke about her name and 何 in the comments. I am not disappointed.
Nani should get an award for best sister. She was willing to sacrifice her own plans and dreams just to take care of her sister all by herself ❤
Yesss! I've been waiting for this. Lilo and Stitch is so underrated.
Very much so...
In my top 10 best Disney films Lilo and Stitch is definitely in the top 5
It's my favourite movie ^^
I loved it
i agree they are my forever fave
I get so offended whenever people say that Frozen is the best sister relationship Disney has ever made. Just, no. Lilo and Nani are absolute sister goals forever.
*stands up clapping*
You are correct like they can fight me !
I always admired nani for giving up her dream to raise lilo. I won't lie i did tear up during this video
I really feel for Nani. After their parents died, she's had to make a lot of sacrifices to take care of Lilo, really had to grow up fast. I wish Lilo would have been more appreciative of Nani
I'm sure in the future she was. But yeah in the beginning of the movie, wooooo Lilo was something else.
Scorpio Carnage, Most of that was striking out. We all grieve in our own ways and in our own time.
Shes 6...she doesnt understand
Am realising that Nani is so underrated, shes my favorite disney character now
Oh hell to the fucking yeah!!!!!!
We know nani tried everything for lilo no matter how much she tries
🌸
They did a great job and that is one of the reasons why I will always love this movie!!
i'll take Lilo and Nani's sisterhood over Anna and Elsa's any day
We all will!!!!
I won't pick any of them because both are very great sister Elsa distanced herself to protect her sister so she wouldn't hurt her with her powers while Nani raised her sister after her parents death and was willing to do anything for her both of them sacrifice their happiness for the sake of their little sisters.
Yes
Even as a kid, I always wanted sister like her. She seems like someone you could always come to for advice.
Wish Nani got more attention, she deserves it. 🍸
I think what Nani did for her family was one of the most important things she could do and it took a lot of strength to put her goals on hold so that she could give her sister the life she deserved
Hell yeah!!! Take that, CinemaSins!!!!
Absolutely!
She mature
"The manager's a vampire, he wanted me to join the legions of the undead." No truer words have been spoken
And then there is people who think Elsa is the best sister 🤦♀️
Like Mother Gothel is the best mom ever. Raps & Anna share the same age in their respective movies.
Of course Nani never almost killed lilo so there’s that 😂
I think it’s mostly the late 2000 kids :/ the ones born near when the show stopped airing
Elsa? Really? I mean, I’d get it if they said Anna, but... Elsa? I love her to death, but come on! The best sister?
I am an older sister myself. I sacrificed going back to school so that my younger sister can go to school full time. This made me sentimental.😭 thank you!!
Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. Family is everything.
Lilo and Stitch is iconic and forever will be and yes maybe a live action won’t live up to our expectations but this masterpiece of a movie does in fact have a huge following and brings back childhood memories.
i don't want this awesomeness tk he ruined by live action (felt same wboit live action b&tb)
Lolo and Stitch got a series! So there!
People can have there own opinions geez
I would LOVE to have a sister like Nani
Me too me too me
Same here
CinemaSins wouldn’t, unfortunately.
I love the Lilo and stitch series! This is literally my favorite franchise
Nani is more than just a sister. She's a mom to Lilo too.
True facts!! No wonder this franchise (before it got anime franchises to milk the franchise and ruin Stitch’s adventures by rehashing the original Lilo & Stitch universe) rocks!!!
@@kieranstark7213 Yup
@@jbcatz5 It is a shame that the previous social worker was no longer working on their case. She understood and worked with Nani.
Mad respect for Nani as a character. I never really thought about what she went through in her life and I'm glad I watched this video about her.
Off topic but who else had a crush on Nani and yeah Nani is an awesome sister
Drago Dragneel Me
Lol. 👋
Me too honestly
Drago Dragneel I thought Nani was a single mother when I was a little kid
Myself
I LOVE NANI SO MUCH! She's always been such a strong, inspiring character for me. I'm glad she's getting the attention she deserves in this video!
Edit: Nani should be awarded as best sister ever! I myself am the youngest of my siblings and couldn't imagine being in that situation unless I somehow become a single parent! ^^;
Can you do a video on one of the more obscure Disney movies, like Atlantis, Treasure Planet or The Black Cauldron?
Vote #2 for Black Cauldron!
I always admired Nani. She is one of the most underrated female characters in all Disney.
Nani is honestly one of Disney’s most underrated characters
This movie always makes me cry! My sister dropped out of high school to raise me at 17 when I was a few months old. She forever will be my Nani! Nani and Lilos relationship reminds me so much of me and my sisters
I've always admired Nani ♥️ thanks Issac for the video

Truly I think Nani is one of the best character in the Disney universe. Truly inspiring every time she's on screen. Thank you for making me love her even more
Oh god this might make me cry. She is working so so hard. I wish lilo understood how much work it takes for Nani to do this. She must be so tired. Ahhhhh Lilo is so lucky.
I’ve always felt bad for Nani. I know it’s a movie-show but hopefully in the end she was able to have a more relaxing and deserving life
Nani always felt more like a mother than anything to me when I would grow up watching the movie and show. Even through I knew she was her sister, she always felt like just more than that.
When you realise that Lilo and Stitch one of Disney's darker films. Nani had a dream but it was destroyed after losing her parents, but she carried on so to raise her little sister. Such emotional storytelling.
Nani is one of my favorite Disney characters, and this had me crying before the halfway point. Well done. 💜
I just realized the restaurant Nani and Lilo are standing by at the 1:18 mark is the MULAN Wok.....a little nod to Mulan perhaps?
9:16 Look behind Nani. There's a Mulan poster.

@UnicornJP Art Yes, it continues from 9:16 to 9:19.
Wow, that's sisterly love. Interesting comparing Elsa and Anna with Lilo and Nani. I wasn't a huge fan when L and S came out, but grew to like it. I also love David's character. He's beyond understanding and patient.
THANK YOU!! Lilo and Stitch is one of my all time favorite movies and it’s so great that you put some context into Nani’s story
And abandonned their home planet to live on ours.
Nani is such a strong cool amazing person she reminds me of my mom. Love you Wotso!!!❤️
She is both sister and mom
Theory Idea Disney Fairies:
Can Fairies be banned from Pixie Hollow? /// What happens when Fairies are 'fired' from their jobs?
This comes from Disney Fairies: The Pirate Fairy. Zarina was 'fired' and it was her choice to leave but I had these two questions. I hope you find time to further read into this!
Shes a beautiful character I never realized how much went into developing her.
Omg, I never looked at Nani that way... that’s so sad and beautiful at the same time...
Nani is the BEST Disney mom, hands down
i always loved nani
mostly because her relationship with lilo felt so real to me
Nani's Lullaby to Lilo in the hammock *(known as Aloha 'Oe which means: Farewell to Thee)* always makes me cry. You can see and hear how scared and sorrowful she is at the notions of not being able to watch her grow up and be there for her. As a sister of five children, I know how it feels to even consider the thought of loosing them.
Also, Aloha 'Oe,
was written and composed by Hawaii's last monarch, and only queen regent of the Hawaiian kingdom, Queen Liliuokalani.
When She sang the "Aloha song" i cried . She was ready to give Lilo everything.
when my dad died when i was 12 and I had two younger siblings I felt in a lot of ways I was thrust into the same possition and when i watched lilo and stich I identified so much with Nani she felt so real, and knew she understood what it was like what I was going through and even more.
You’re truly an angel. I know it’s been a few years, I’m so sorry for your loss and I hope you have all the strength and love and hope you need for whatever your family looks like now ❤️ And for yourself too

Can we appreciate the fact that she’s fucking awesome, a great role model, and one of the only realistically bodied characters in Disney?? She’s amazing!
I love how Lilo and Nani’s relationship is so realistic
I WOULD NOT STAND A CHANCE! as of now if i were to be within that kind of situation. though i would be inexperienced at first, i would know what to do over time and maybe learn to keep my temper in check. and the analysis that nani had to give up her dreams, relationships, and competitive light shows that she is a model sister in that situation

Keep it up.
Greetings to all of you!

nani finally getting the credit she deserves
Nani is undoubtedly the most human character disney has ever made, as unlike disney sisters and brothers including elsa and anna none of them surpass nani's well-written personality as she really represents what it's like to be an older brother and that everything has sacrifices when fate gives you a bad move
Nani was my crush when I was younger tbh, she was such an amazing person, so mature, and yet so young.
