@@mshtysf4646 In the US the propaganda campaign is so strong. There are no sources of positive information about China. If you believed the propaganda you'd still think China is where it was 24 years ago. Unfortunately, a lot of Americans NEED to believe in this to distract themselves from what is coming.

@@mshtysf4646 you do realize it was thanks to cisco who help build China's internet-wall-etc; without them helping out at the beginning~ beijing's economy might be near tie to India.
so its quite strange when even now days - you rarely (if ever) see any Beijing official thanking EU/G7 nations for helping to industrialize the mainland - its mostly wolf warriors from 2017 onward.
That being said; it will still take 3-7 years before India' can build up its factories to serve as an alternative.

What I dont understand is, why Japan is helping despite the fact that Japan itself was forced to bow out in the 1980s by the same tactic the US is using against china. The US hit Toshiba with sanctions and millions of dollars in revenue were wiped off its books as its products faced heavy import duties and American firms cut ties with the company. American Congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley initiated the move in 1987 as the result Toshiba - which, along with Sony, Mitsubishi Corporation and other Japanese firms came to a screeching halt.

The main reason U$A will never able to compete in Chip manufacturing.
All the country that do well in chip manufacturing , has Confucianism culture.
For chip manufacturing, a high level of discipline is the key, and most Americans today don't possess it.
    They call it “forced labour"
Taiwanese media reported on August 2 that TSMC claimed the production holdup at its Arizona facility was caused by a shortage of trained American labour and that they had sent staff from Taiwan to assist with the factory's development. Labour union officials in Arizona, on the other hand, criticised TSMC for exploiting this as a justification to bring in "low-wage foreign labour."

Everyone wants to produce chips these days, the US is trying to produce advanced chips itself, and even India is trying to produce chips from scratch.
But China is the biggest market, and they too are trying to produce their own chips. In fact their chip production growth rate is about 40% yoy.
I think in less than 10 years, the advanced chip production in US will bleed to bankruptcy since they can't compete with Taiwan, Korea, Japan and maybe China.. Their production cost will be about 2 to 3 times higher.
India's ambition maybe shortlived too, China will flood the market with cheap less advanced chips.

That professor claiming it would take China 400 years to develop the high speed train system by itself is completely clueless. Before China paid for tech transfers of high speed train technology, it already had its own self-developed "China Star" high speed train prototype that was already capable of travelling over 300km/h by 2002 with indigenous technology and was running commercially at 270km/h by 2006. The tech transfer accelerated China's high speed train technology by around 10 years or 15 years at most. That estimate of 400 years is an absolute joke. In 400 years, Humans will have already colonized the entire Solar System even beyond the orbit of Pluto and we'll have long developed maglev transport systems going well over 6000km/h. What a knucklehead! 🤣🤣🤣

When have we ever in the last 30 years seen China not compete , innovative and do whatever is needed to move up the value chain. There is no conflict, this is just normal business competition. The only violation is the chip embargo sanctions initiated by the United States. What China needs to do is to completely domesticate chips with a diameter of 7 nanometers or more (with annual purchases of nearly 400 billion US dollars for chips with a diameter of 7 nanometers or more). After 5 years of trade war sanctions, China has been able to fully mass produce the complete set of equipment, processes, and raw materials required for chips above 7 nanometers. The next step is to make chips above 7 nanometers globally extremely affordable. I am never proud of China's energy production of 3-5 nanometer chips, which are all produced using Dutch lithography machines. This is a shame.

The Global Semiconductor Subsidy Race has began.
The US CHIPS and Science Act allocates $53 billion to the US to rebuild its chip supply chain and invest in research and development. Of that total, $39 billion is dedicated to initiatives that boost semiconductor manufacturing.
In response to the US Chips Act, the European Union, Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea have started or expanded their own subsidy programs.
the EU introduced the European Chips Act in 2022 to make it easier for government funding to be used for semiconductor plants. In August 2023, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company announced plans to build a $11 billion chip manufacturing plant in Germany, which may include up to $5.5 billion in government subsidies.
According to data from a consultative council of the Japanese government, subsidies provided to the semiconductor industry by the Japanese government over the past three years have totaled JPY3. 9 trillion (US$25.7 billion), equivalent to 0.71% of GDP.
China's semiconductor self-sufficiency rate is less than 6%, and its technological level lags behind the world.
