What is it about James that makes everything he says sound so cool? His voice or his style or his relaxed attitude? He is like Morgan Freeman, he can say whatever and it will sound deep and meaningful.
Fantastic interview. Thanks for this guys. It's interesting having a music legend interview another music legend because the interviewer has deep insights into the industry as a result.
At 7:13, James' face after Marky says "You're on the top! No, he's on the bottom." talking about bunk beds on the tour bus. Yep... If you know a bit of Metallica's history, you know what James instantly thought about... Great interview though. Glad to see them still kickin' ass in 2017.
I'm from brazil, I've been listening to Metallica since a very young age, from time to time, I see the James changed, a lot, he has an intimidating presence, and it's impossible not to be impressed with him
I really enjoy listening to James speak. He knows how to organize and articulate his thoughts well to the point that he makes me hang on to every word. That's a gift... I can see James doing motivational speeches later on or do some talks and what not. Kinda like Henry Rollins.
Wow, great interview! Always love listening to James and his real life experiences. Amazing about the family who lost their daughter by a drunk driver and now goes to all the Metallica shows because she was a fan - that's very heart touching. God Bless them! Metallica has been in my life forever and continue to Rock my life everyday. Also shout out to Dave Mustaine. All those guys are special to me. Keep Rockin' guys! 🎶🥁Thanks for great interview! DC
This interview is so interesting. He also did an interview with Kirk and was so visibily annoyed and almost the opposite of his demeaner in this. He's seems more engaged.
Harijs Arajs The Ramone made new records all the way until they split, and Hetfield (who was a close friend of Johnny when Johnny retired and moved to LA) knows this, unlike you.
Marky's a riot. Here's a microphone. I'll use it sometimes, and other times I won't. And you'll be able to hear me fine whether I hold it to my mouth or not.
Elijah De Luna At first this "guy" is legendary Mark Ramone! Second thing is that he said:" You're on the top now he's on the bottom" which probably means that James is sleeping on top of that bed which I really don't know how it's named and Lars is sleeping on bottom on this big bed. Because if you heard what James said before this moment than you can clearly understand about what was Marky talking.
There should be a thing where james hetfield just reads a nutritional label or street signs or some random things because it would still sound fucking cool and deep and meaningful and inspiring to me...
Metallica should immediately get back into the studio and do another while they are still under 60 years old....People bought the album, so that should be motivation to do another.
"we don't want to be a legacy act, relying on the back catalog". That's funny because that's the path Marky chose. After the Ramones broke up, Marky had a band called the Intruders that made 2 albums of originals, one of which was produced by Lars from Rancid. They were a good late 90's punk act IMO. Then he had another band called the Speedkings. These days he's in the Blitzkrieg that just play Ramones hits... they used to have Michael Graves (former Misfits) and they did one or two originals, but Mark has basically decided to only play Ramones songs. My take is that it's for financial reasons. He can basically hire session musicians and not pay anyone very much, and get the maximum turnout for the gigs.
What made you want to do another album is a great question. The extended time between albums with bands is exposing a sad lack of passion for creation. And when you put out an album every 6-8-10 years....you have to live up to the time. Was it worth that wait?
In my eyes Metallica are the 2nd greatest Rock band in history. If I wasn't Australian they would be the first. But of course my number 1 spot will always be held by AC/DC (Ronald Scott) era but Brian is a Legend too.
Geez I seen on the making of they were in the studio in 2014 & it came out in Nov 2016.I understand the family part But why tour? you are gonna tour again anyway. Just finish an LP.
i fuckin know that it is about the quality...but i think they could easily realease 2 albums since death magnetic.....just imagine lars once said...yeah we recorded hrdwired song in a week or two? FOR FUCK SAKE
Love Marky, but man he fucked this up. Look at James face when Marky mentions top & bottom bunks. You know he was thinking about Cliff's death . Was probably a little creeped out too. It's obvious Marky never heard of METALLICA until the night before , jeez man.
Metallica should've stuck with their guns in the 00's. Even if it didn't sell, they would've found favor again, but now we have Load/Reload/St Anger which all speak to a confidence crisis.
James 'We don't want to become a legacy band, playing the hits' Also James: 'Yeah, during lockdown let's go on Howard Stern, Jimmy Kimmel and just play Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters. Play 'Blackened' acoustic..' He also says, they have their HQ..they've jammed 3 studio albums worth in 20 years. 🤷♂️ I love Metallica, but there's times I don't get some things.
guns n roses need to heed james words. dont want to be a band that just hangs around and plays their hits. legacy act. gnr are the epitome of a legacy act. keep playing fuckin shows these days with no material. welcome to the jungle, sweet child of mine, november rain, blah blah blah. so played out
Metallica is not very productive. Metallica IS living on it´s past James. Just listen to the albums, since The Black Album came out. It just when´t down hill from there
@@lawrancenyejr.2775 You can say. "if you don´t HAVE the blues, you don´t sing the blues" Much respect for the work in the past. But James has run out of the mentality of the essence of metal, since hes got sober, and "reborn religiousness" so to say. NOT a bad thing, seeing from a human perspective, i must say!
PLUS. Lars has become a freaking lazy and BAD drummer :-( I "hate" the way, he can screw songs up, with this out of place offbeat thing, and the china cynbal... Not to speak abou the ugly purple kit... He he, sorry for this shit :-)
Well I see you embellished on my question "How?" First of all but have you seen them live, secondly what is your definition of the word "metal" and are you talking about the Hardwired to Self Destruct record? And if so how can you apply any of those analytics you call critcism from your comments about there evolution from then til now to the track "Now That Were Dead" not to mention the rest of the tracks on that album
Man I need some James Hetfield podcasts. His voice is soothing af.
James has a powerful voice even when speaking. Good rumbly bass tone.
What is it about James that makes everything he says sound so cool? His voice or his style or his relaxed attitude? He is like Morgan Freeman, he can say whatever and it will sound deep and meaningful.
His voice. He seems so laid back.
m-a he’s smart enough to not say anything foolish.
what about Markey's voice? lol
m-a I love it. I could listen to him talk all day everyday.
m-a cause he is the fucking Master!!!
I could listen to James explain just about anything.
James will always kick ass sober or not. METALLICA WILL ALWAYS RULE THE WORLD
bullshit haha
@@thunder7382 They're still ruling so seems like you were the only bullshit
A musician interviewing another musician. This is how it should always be!
Two legendary people in their own ways
great interview...thank you for sharing this!
James is my hero of all time. More older he get's more relaxter he is :-)
Great interview...very calm atmosphere
More older is REALLY old
Oliver Heuschele "relaxter" isn't a word; you mean "relaxed".
I absolutely adore James Hetfield. Just an unreal man he is 💖💖💖
Fantastic interview. Thanks for this guys. It's interesting having a music legend interview another music legend because the interviewer has deep insights into the industry as a result.
So nice to see marky in good shape ;)
James is super down to Earth. A good open and honest guy.
Great interview with great questions & comments by Marky Ramone. Thank you for sharing!

THE DAILY RIFF That's heartbreaking 😭😭😭
thats what i thought about as soon as he said that
I love his voice...

Long Live JAMES HETFIELD and Metallica! Love you ❤
The Table interviewed by The Wig.
LMAO
I really enjoy listening to James speak. He knows how to organize and articulate his thoughts well to the point that he makes me hang on to every word. That's a gift... I can see James doing motivational speeches later on or do some talks and what not. Kinda like Henry Rollins.
Long Live JAMES HETFIELD! ❤❤❤
Metal and Rock 'n' Roll interview on... VIIIRGIIIN - RADIOOOOO!!
Great interview

Idk why everyone is complaining about them getting "old"..Hetfield looks better than ever and gets more handsome with age in my opinion
Man I wonder how much longer James will be able to keep that right hand going. Would be amazing to see them playing at 80 years old.
Great Interview! Great questions Marky.
I'd like to see Marky's wig collection
Love music especially metallica
3:54- "Do you like Jazz?
James' face is classic...the answer is no, no James is not a jazz enthusiast
This interview is so interesting. He also did an interview with Kirk and was so visibily annoyed and almost the opposite of his demeaner in this. He's seems more engaged.
Fuck yessss fuck yessss holy shit a punk rock legend interviewing a fuckin metal legend this is fuckin great!!!!!!💀💀💀💀
Hetfield: "We don't wanna be a legacy band that relies only on their catalogue"
Marky: "Right..."
Funniest thing I've seen all year.
Harijs Arajs The Ramone made new records all the way until they split, and Hetfield (who was a close friend of Johnny when Johnny retired and moved to LA) knows this, unlike you.
@@chriskolb3105 i think he's directing this at Marky and his career as of late, not the Ramones
Marky's a riot. Here's a microphone. I'll use it sometimes, and other times I won't. And you'll be able to hear me fine whether I hold it to my mouth or not.
Their Cliff Burton era is their only era I really like, but I do like "Justice." Their 80s stuff is where it's at.
Legend interviewing legend, it's all I see.
There's a Ramone still alive?!?! COOL!
He cj and other i don't remember
Marky, CJ, Ritchie and Elvis Ramone (Clem Burke) is still Alive
The last one. I don’t consider the ‘5 minute Ramones’ real...or CJ, to be honest-even though he seems like a great guy.
Wtf. Am I the only one who sees James face when the guy says "you're on top, no you're on bottom"
i've seen that too xDD.. but i dont know what i should think about this XD
timestamp? lol
"the guy"? It's fucking Marky Ramone. Or are you talking about someone else, I haven't watched the video yet lol

"the guy". LOL!
Joey sounds like a late 60s early/70s young college hip professor into jazz or classical.
Hey, we in upstate NY would LOVE for y'all to come up here and write!!! There are some amazing places in the Adirondack mountains.
i find marky ramones voice very pleasant to listen to 🙂
These guys r two of my heros for sure rip marky
Marky is still going
There should be a thing where james hetfield just reads a nutritional label or street signs or some random things because it would still sound fucking cool and deep and meaningful and inspiring to me...
That mic has 100% no purpose. Lolerz.
Go Marky
James master of

7:13 He was thinking about Cliff :(

Can we see Jason Newsted interviewed by Marky's wig?
The fact that Lemmy had cancer and only presented to emergency 3 days before he died is crazy.
That guy on the left as such a great sense of humour.
The proof is in that wig alone.
When legend meet legend..i like both..Hey Ho Let's go...Yeahhhh
But... Did the album kick ass?...

1UglyMother Fuker Eh. How when there isn't as much diversity in AC DC
They were played more than Metallica over my crib I suppose.
I'm an Aussie and am a traitor. My favorite band is American formed, British sounding Megaforce in Music. Metallica of course 💖💖💖💖
Just take this as it is....a gift from the rock gods.
Mick Jagger is looking well.
Hoopspur Lmao. Jagger hasn't looked that good since 1979.
Hoopspur LMMFAO !!
It was a great album
And these guys are not done
I see them playing unto there 60s
you have to sleep with lars tonight XD
When the guys were not mega known and a young band.
The accents James, the accents !
James should've snatched Marky's wig 😂
Listen man ...IT KICK S ASSSS!
💓💓💓💓
" we don't wanna be band that hangs out and relies on the hits of the catalog" 🤣🤣🤣
The irony
Just do what Lars says and don't rock the boat ok
I wish that James was telling the truth.... it's pushing 6 years since Hardwired at this point.
James has the best voice in this universe
As a new York girl I prefer Marks Brooklyn accent
So how do you like stuff, is it good?
Yea, Yea, yea
Guys I don’t know if you noticed, but, that new album, kicks ass.
2:48 very true

Nice wig, Marky ;)
Here comes revenge "to" the Holy Roman Empire!!! You've reached the end of the line.
They are a legacy band, whether they know it or not. And they dont even do their legacy justice. No pun intended.
Shitty questions followed by vague answers. Great interview!
“You have to sleep with Lars tonight” lmao
To be fair 'Hardwired to self destruct' is a very good album.
I like
Em espanhol ajudaria mas em italiano não entendo nada.

JASON yeah...
Well that's not literally true, since they toured together (Lollapolooza '96), but yeah, Mark is obviously no Metallica historian.
Can you elaborate? I feel like James started it by saying "you have to sleep with Lars tonight"...can you explain?
Little nicky- John and Pete
Markey sounds like Jim Florentine!
Did Marky listen to the goddamn album?!? Doesn't seem like it...
James should've asked Marky if he still thought the covers Metallica did for the Ramones tribute was still a cash grab.
James, people do come to see you play your back catalog. It's not your new music.
am i the only one wondering not to drink anymore. James look healthy and happy. Marky looks like a fucking train wreck. Its 10 years difference.
Dan Bjeffe wouldn't be a bad idea. Imo at the very least.
Metallica should've stuck with their guns in the 00's. Even if it didn't sell, they would've found favor again, but now we have Load/Reload/St Anger which all speak to a confidence crisis.
James looks like the middle aged bad boy character they would use in lifetime or other women movies

Once you hit your mid 50's, you age rapidly. The cellular damage to your body really begins to compound.
Lame interview questions. James, always the man. Irrelevant grampa with a black wig? Boooooorrring...

Not trying to troll but the album wasn't good it was boring. I did buy it then I threw it in the trash.
Mark seems uncomfortable because he knows James wrote Sandman
