Next time National Treasure: Book of Secrets
Since it’s the season, Trapped in Paradise is a good cult Cage Christmas movie.
*It's a DISNEY movie so Millennials are going to love it instantly.*
Please do national treasure 2
DC to Philadelphia is a 2 Hour Drive
The Statue of Liberty was copper colored at first, but when copper oxidizes it turns a green color.
still made of copper. so it was and is still copper just at a different point in it's cycle.
@@DanielRichards644That's what he said 🤦
@@jokerj641 colored implies not the metal.
@@DanielRichards644 "but when COPPER oxidizes it turns a green color" 🤦🤦
@jokerj641 yeah but copper isn't called copper colored moron
I love this movie and the second one. Nicholas Cage adds enough charm to the main character to make this an enjoyable ride.
The first one was entertaining. The sequel was so obviously just a cash grab that was hastily thrown together at the last minute.
Forgot about the sequel, yeah that's a fun trip too!
A fun adventure film that works mainly because of Cage’s dedication to taking the material seriously
I felt the script was intelligent and busy enough to keep him focused - just what he needs.
"The grandfather has a soothing voice."
RIP to Christopher Plummer. A fantasticly charismatic and magnetic actor. To hear him quote Shakespeare - Star Trek 6 😉
Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war!
Better in its original Klingon
Kirk had Christopher Plummer as enemy. Picard had Amanda Plummer. :D
Chang: “We need breathing room….”
Kirk: “Earth, Hitler, 1938”
Chang: “I beg your pardon.”
[Everyone stares at Kirk]
He also played Arngier in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Unironically think these National Treasure movies are the natural successor to the Indiana Jones original movies.
I've never really connected with Bollywood movies.
I used to be a high school history teacher and every year around the holidays we would show this movie. So a very large number of high school, kids have seen this movie.
This is one of my favorite Nicolas Cage movies of all time this is like Indiana Jones mixed with Mission Impossible. Plus Ben's dad is played by Jon Voight who you saw in Mission Impossible.
Don't forget Jon Voight is Anglina Jolie's dad Too
Please do the sequel it’s just as good. The mystery is always fun
It kind of has more in common with Da Vinci code, in my opinion, with the number of puzzles. One of the very few PG movies Nic cage has been in
I don’t know why but I never saw Da Vinci Code, for some reason it just wasn’t on my “to see” list. But I definitely wouldn’t wind seeing it however
American History was my best and all time FAVORITE subject in high school. This movie came out at the literal PERFECT time. My mom and stepdad took me to see it and we got SO into it.
My favorite moment with Nick Cage's character is when he's escaping the bad guys, beats one with the map case and then another one suddenly appears. I still quote that "Oh come ON!" from time to time when things just aren't going my way! 😂
National Treasure 2 is another good one, (both are among the almost 700 movies this old Aussie has on DVD 😊)
I got the both on dvd too
This movie is basically a modern version of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. It’s almost the same structure and scenes playing out. That said. It is still a fun film, with lots of added humour! The look on his father face. When he’s realises that his son has stolen the Declaration of Independence! 🤣.
Ben Gates father was played by Jon Voight (Angelina Jolie’s dad). You may have seen him in the first Mission Impossible movie as the villain. He also played Ben Stillers father in Zoolander, as well as a bunch of other movies.
You can find Jon in Deliverance. It's quite the film. And it's from the 1972.
I haven’t seen Zoolander in YEARS. I only saw it at the theater when it first came out in 2001, Haven’t seen it since so there’s many people in it that don’t remember being in it… I had no idea Jon Voight was in Zoolander
He was also a coach in Varsity Blues with Paul Walker
@@leemires5315 he was also the villain in Anaconda
There are very few movies or pieces of cinema where Sean Bean doesn't die but for the 10% of things where he lives the other 90% he dies. Though with Sean Bean being alive in this so that if there's ever a third National Treasure movie they can bring him back.
"Is he gonna be ok?"
The rare movie where Sean Bean doesn't die! 😉 He actually doesn't die in movies quite as often as people think...
He doesn't live through the Civilization VI trailer/intro movie as well :)
He also dies in Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion.
Sean Bean survives in Ronin, but saying more would be bigger spoilers
@@Ernwaldo Leaving the movie early was the best choice his character made 😅
@@LordVolkov 👍🏻
True, just didn’t want to say that.
This movie had me thinking there was an actual cypher behind the Declaration 💀
Can’t believe this movie exposed the real secrets 😔
And that the Liberty Bell that they put on display for tourists isn’t the real one😢😮🤯
Only one way to find out.
That's why they call it entertainment
@@ChrisXIllustratesXGamingsteal the Declaration of Independence!
The bits about the Declaration make me weep. Its SO Patriotic!!
Americans. So optimistic yet sooo flawed.
@@KissMeWhereIWee What country isn't?
I love the thought they expressed about modifying the protections of the Declaration as needed to keep it working. They NEED to start on that NOW! it maybe to late already!
I'm really obsessed with these two movies. I need a third one!!
They are making a 3rd treasure movie. I think i heard it will be about page 46 (or whatever it was)
@@shenran9164Well, it's been a while since the second movie, so I suspect there would be a bit of a time jump.
@@ronfehr7899 if you watch the Disney+ series riley makes an appearance in it and he mentions they are still looking into it
One of the best and most underrated actual hidden gems of a Nicolas Cage movie is Matchstick Men. It's got Sam Rockwell too. You'd absolutely love it, and literally nobody else has reacted to it. Very, very, VERY, worth the time. It's soo good.
Raising Arizona is a fantastic Nic Cage movie, and if you're into horror, Mandy is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen honestly. Cage in that film is just at the top of his game and the whole ride is worth experiencing for anyone who loves movies.
beat me to it
“Is that Sean Bean? Is he gonna be okay?” Had me dying lol
I literally remembered this film and watched it last night , They're soooo good and imo the second one is even better !
Yep, I would recommend watching that one as well.
Yeah, if you enjoy listening to characters argue just to argue. In the first NT the banter was witty and lighthearted. The sequel was just cringe.
Treasure hunting movies are my favorite genre!
I remember watching that movie back to back when I was younger! It’s one of the best movies ever made as well as Book of Secrets! ❤
My favorite Nicolas Cage movie. I enjoyed the second one too.
25:46 *Yea, the Statue of Liberty is copper. But, due to the oxidation of the metal, it turned a blue-greenish color. You can Google "Oxidized Pennies" and see the same color, since American pennies are made mostly of copper. And in "Spider-Man: No Way Home", The final battle takes place on a restored Statue of Liberty, which is, apparently, cleaned back to her copper state, before another round of oxidation brings her back to her blue-ish glory.*
😁🗽
probably would have put a protective coating on her since they bothered to restore her
Pennies aren't mostly copper. Before 1982 they were 100% copper, then there was a time when they were brass, but ever since 1982 they have been made of zinc plated with a thin layer of copper. Pennies are now approximately 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper, but the copper is completely external so it can still oxidize.
You luv Nicholas Cage? You luv Christmas? Watch 'The Family Man" one of the best undiscovered Xmas movies!
The first movie that I saw Nicholas Cage in was called Valley Girl. While obviously not the main character, he did have a very important role (I don't remember when it was released).
1983, and it sealed the deal for our family. We’ve lurved him for 40 years! And while he’s not the title character, he’s definitely one of the main characters. And the soundtrack is…ooh la la!
He was also in Fast Times At RidgeMont High credited as Nicholas Coppola.
The dad (Jon Voight) was in Mission Impossible. One of his earlier movies.
He was also in Zoolander.
Jon Voight is great. One of the few openly Conservative actors in Hollywood.
And Angelina Jolie’s father
RAISING ARIZONA is my favorite Nic Cage movie….80’s CLASSIC
I recently showed this to my kids. Good family friendly adventure movie.
National treasure is, without doubt, my favourite nic cage film. The story, the cast, the adventure. Everything is stellar
Nicolas Cage is great. My favorite performance of his is in Martin Scorsese’s Bringing Out the Dead.
I think Cage goes through every emotion in that movie. And surrounded by a great cast! RIP to Major Tom.
I adore this movie! Every couple years, I watch this and the sequel. You'd think knowing all the riddles would spoil it for me, but.... nope.
This movie made Nicholas Cage a NATIONAL TREASURE
*FACE OFF* ?! Come on!
@@poolhall9632 Con Air.
Naaa that was wild at heart
*Nicolas
every year on or around the Holidays, National Treasure 1 and 2 became a must-watch set of movies. simply because they are so fun for the whole family.
Mary's laugh is so darn contagious! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂‼
I love this movie and the sequel. Back when Hollywood put effort into their stuff and legitimately made good products. I watch these usually about once a week. Great fun for the kids to tune into as well!
The sequel is just as fun! Hopefully they'll make a third one!
They are filming NT3 it took them a long time to write the script trying to get all the events historically accurate. All the cast are back.
@@MichaelDzikowski-ms9iz how do you know? It hasn't been confirmed
I live and work and have spent most of my life in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence, along with the U.S. Constitution where written and signed. I walk by those places - Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, City Hall, Reading Terminal Market, etc. on a regular basis and it's always amazing to see tourists taking photos and talking about locations that are just another part of the great city where I live.
My grandpa was a Freemason. Maybe that's why I feel such an attachment to this movie
Nick was also in Moonstruck with Cher.
riley is the best thing about this movie, the music too actually
You have to watch Book of Secrets as soon as possible, Mary. After you watch the second movie, you're going to want to more from this series.
Peggy Sue Got Married is an underrated Nicolas Cage classic. He plays slightly off characters so well.
Hey Mary, the actor who plays the father is Jon Voight. He's been a bunch of movies but you might know him from "Holes" as Mr.Sir. Also, he is Angelina Jolie's father. They even played a father/ daughter role in the older Tomb Raider movie
This is definitely an underrated fun movie; glad you [and Lola] enjoyed it!
As a Philadelphian I've always loved seeing the city like this.
3:34 Jon Voight! Angelina Jolie's father! He's a legendary actor!
4:37 Hahahahahahah!!!!! I laughed way too hard at this!
Great movie/series.
Second film is good too. Also love that it unapologetically celebrated American history instead of trying to pick it apart and tear it down like alot of entertainment does these days.
"is Sean Bean gonna be alright" that killed so funny and so true
I still say irony is casting sean bean as oddysius in troy
Diane Kruger as Helen.
I forgot both Troy and NT came out the same year.
Suprisingly good films! I really like the whole ancient mysteries code cracking element
There is more truth in these movies than people realise
I can still quote this movie almost line for line it’s an all timer 😂😂
4:35 "Is that Sean Bean? Is he gonna be okay?" Bruh 😂
"Oh, Sean Bean is in this? Is he gonna be okay?" 😂😂
For another Jon Turtletaub movie, and with it approaching the Christmas season, I suggest While You Were Sleeping, with Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman.
Next (2007) is a good Nicholas Cage film to watch.
-Sage
If you like long movies, try the 1959 Ben-Hur. 3 hours and 42 minutes. Long intermission, and a prelude, great music, and if you loved Charlton Heston in any movie, you're gonna love him in this.
I first saw this movie last year and I loved it Nicholas Cage is one hell of an actor can't wait to see the sequel
"Is that Sean Bean? Is Sean Bean in this movie? Is he going to be ok?" hahaha never change, Mary
Sean Bean surviving has become a plot-twist
Glad you finally watched this, I remember asking you ages ago. Like years ago.
My favorite part of this movie you didn't show here on RUclips, but it's the part near the end where you find out that Sadusky is wearing a Freemason signet ring.
The interactions between Cage and Voight make this a memorable movie.
Love this movie and the sequel. They are regular comfort movies I play int he background. To answer your question, the MYTH of a treasure is indeed real. In fact, there is an entire reality series called Oak Island, dedicated to the search for the Stonemasons treasure.. some think it is there, and indeed there is apparently some craftily designed boobytraps (allegedly mason designed). Dunno if there is anything to it, but yeah... the myth is real.
My family loves National Treasure and I've watched it in school three times
I feel the same way about Nic Cage! He mostly plays in B-rate movies nowadays but I still watch them because I just love his acting. He’s underrated in my opinion. He’s always so intense. 😊
Sean Bean would later do Zeus in Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
Familiar Dad is Jon Voight whom you may have seen in Mission Impossible. He is also father to Angelina Jolie.
Happy it's giving
For those that don't know, Patrick Gates' house in real life is in South Pasadena, California. Also, in the original DVD release, his home is mis-identified as being in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania whereas in the story it is in Washington, D.C.
A family favorite that was a popular choice on the small dvd players in our van whenever we took a long car ride.
Mary, your exclamation "OHHH!" is the best part of your channel..... 👍
Such a great movie, loved Cage in these movies. Gotta watch the next too. You should really see Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, he plays himself. It’s kinda crazy but then, so is Nick. It’s an absolutely fun ride with him and Pablo Pascal.
Great reaction! In the 2nd film, "Book of Secrets (2007)", they add Ben's mom, Helen Mirren. Lots of fun ensues. When you get a chance...could ya? BTW, Sean Bean's 1st big movie for American audiences was "Patriot Games (1992)" starring who I think is your favorite Star Wars actor. It would make a great spy movie reaction for you.
And Ed Harris as the villain
I've always loved the National Treasure movies. I think theyre fun movies and make me feel patriotic haha
Con Air is another really good fast paced, action packed Nicholas Cage movie. I will say his southern accent is horribly portrayed, but I think the story and style of the movie is so well done I can overlook that small kind of thing.
Can’t wait for the 2nd movie and the tv show.👍🏻🙂
I’m so glad you have a photo of yourself and the liberty bell
I loved this movie. The mystery, detective work, education, intelligence were all good. The 2nd was good too.
If I could, I would steal the Declaration and deliver it to the king of the United Kingdom.
Great reaction..the second 1 to this is so good
32:16 that scene of the green statue of the man with a goatee was the blunder of this movie because that statue is supposed to made out of stone. To this day that scene is one of the iconic blunder scenes of National Treasure.
The sequel was also amazing!
Nick Cage's best character was in ^Raising Arizona^.
the line you love... "if there's something wrong, those who have the ability to take action have the responsibility to take action" is an old principle. look up Noblesse Oblige... the obligation of nobility.
my all time Nic Cage favourite ❤️ glad you got to watch it Mary
Drive Angry is a lesser know, but gritty and great must watch.
Yes the Statue of Liberty is made of copper. Copper turns green when you leave it outside.
There's actually a TV show on now of a group trying to locate the lost treasure of the knights templar. It's rumoured they had the ark of the covenant. The show is called the curse of oak island and its extremely interesting stuff
The Statue of Liberty is made out of copper. Copper (Cuprum) "rusts" to a blue-green color. Unlike rust, the patina is self-sealing protecting the metal from degrading.
One of the handful of movies where Sean Bean lives, didn't see it coming
A GOOD THANKSGIVING 😝🤪
Both National Treasure movies are great fun.
Other Nick Cage movies include The Rock, Con Air, Ghost Rider, and Sorcerer's Apprentice.
If you have not seen FACEOFF with Cage and Travolta you need to. So good.
One of my favorite movies! Sequel was also good! Super Thanks for this and I hope you enjoyed as much as all the Mary Cherry fans!
Riley: I know something about history that you don't know ...
Ben: I'd be very excited to learn about it Riley.
Mary Cherry is a national treasure!!
24:24 For my college photography class I took pictures at this cemetary and others around the city.
