- Thrones of Britannia is the first Total War Saga game from Creative Assembly, and it changes quite a few things that you may or may not be familiar with. In the hopes of pointing out some of the key changes and providing tips for some of the mechanics, I bring you these 10 essential tips and factors to consider when making your moves for the throne of Britannia. They include food, supplies, loyalty, governors, estates, and more.

Thank you so much for explaining estates for me it was so frustrating not understanding why people complain about estates even tough they where governors.
One strategy that grows out of the unique mechanics of this game, and which is really damn ahistorical, is to recruit like crazy and tax your people to death during peace time, and then to drop taxes very low as soon as you go to war.
By having taxes high during peace, you get lots of extra food and gold that you can use to grow your settlements and armies, and because you're at peace, you can actually afford to have armies crush these random rebellions if/when they spring up. This also allows you to recruit your units and let them replenish to full strength before you are at war instead of after, which means that your 20 stack is going to be quite a bit stronger than your enemy's 20 stack.
When you go to war, you lower your taxes down to just what you need to avoid attrition or disbanding armies, which you can do fairly easily if you took the time to fully expand your settlements during peacetime. By keeping your taxes low you reduce or eliminate the threat of rebellions popping up behind your lines, which can lead to a death spiral of losing farms and industry, raising taxes to compensate, and then getting more rebellions, all of which are hard to defeat because you don't have the food or coin to recruit and field additional armies behind your front lines.
In another game maybe this wouldn't be a great idea, since you will have a harder time raising and maintaining armies, but in this game, there are a number of mechanics (like Supply and Seasons) that encourage you to fight short wars anyway. So as much as possible, try to ride this "lower taxes, conquer, peace, raise taxes, build and replenish" cycle to set up short, decisive wars and then prepare for the next decisive conflict.
I just bought the game and I realised how complicated everything is compared to before. Even with this tutorial I still can not understand most of it.

3:30. Playing as Gwined improves follower bonuses. It might be the easiest start for newer players or those that want to experiment with civic technologies and turtling. Welsh pillagers with any raiding specific traits might compensate for not building/upgrading mines right away.
6:20. Marrying into another faction usually bumps them up to very friendly. How do descendant s work? Do children gain traits of the parents?

Basement Dweller I like the food mechanic but it’s pretty straight forward and gives me an opportunity to fuck the AI’s day and the recruitment method is pretty nice and prevents those dumbass 50 unit armies in one turn the ai loves

Actually, it's historically accurate.
It's historically accurate in that the Christians in the isles and northern France were constantly under threat of raiders. Also, this is before feudalism so the people weren't really loyal to Kings therefore rebellions were more common.

It is but all of you same as those ,,big,, total war channels are just fucking blind or stupid. I dont even have the game and watching the Apollo walkthrought on Dublin and holy fuck how many time I scream on that fucking scren how stupid and blind he is. And his channel is all about total war ffs.
@@robr.6087 Where is it explained in game? They have 10 youtube video links in the game that give a very bland overview of ten parts of the game. There's no other UI help - not about how the systems works but about WHAT to click to load a certain menu or option screen.

I think this game has quite potential, I got it on sales and don't regret it, the new mechanics are fun and the map is so immersive. At some point it becomes a bit repetitive due to the few changes in units and faction types, but it could be solved with new content, it's sad CA apparently abandoned the project, at last we can trust in modders!!

I just got this game. As a seasoned total war veteran, I had to really study up on htf this game works. Is that a reason why it got rough reviews? Not sure, but I like it alright.

Arhatu No joke, my friend. I’m British and quite happy with the battle mechanics and pace. Also I’ve been married nine years and counting, so when I fall in love, I generally tend to mean it. Games have honeymoon periods too!

This is not the usual total war I play, this is very different. It’s a more defined strategy game.
Much better more focus and better I think. Oh and your generals are basically agents as you can use them in so many ways.

I like the new estate system but wish they had more of a role rather than just handing it out to people. Like if you owned certain estates with high income you would gain more if you had them under direct control rather than give it out to nobles.

Good video was hoping to cover corruption because that's what im having trouble with atm and u can only have 10 govs and some towns and cities don't have the -20 corruption building... I'm stuck with 97% corruption on all new settlments i take and now i can't take anything or my money will be gone.

Thinking about buying the game... Can anyone tell me if the rebellion system makes any sense or is it like in Rome 2 where huge parts of my empire just decided to rebel (despite being very high in happiness) a turn before I was supposed to control the entire map and win? Really felt like a cheap and unnecessary shot.

How powerfull rebellions fan be?
U know in Warhammer they sometimes have bats and spears or giants and chosen.
I got most of it my main question on this is I’m playing Viking sea Kings do I build a navy or do I just put my ground troops into the water can’t seem to build navel units

In total war three kingdoms, the supplies symbol will be converted to represent the chance of a successful ambush. Sorry, I know that’s bad but I just couldn’t resist!
So they'll convert it from a "Supplies" mechanic to a "Supprise!" mechanic?
I just don't undestand few things in this game. War Fervour is not dropping when Im at peace. I still have "border wars -42" even multiple turns being at peace. Here King mechanic seems bugged aswell. Even after making peace with the English I had -15. Cant even start a war, because those modifiers will only grow during the conflict.
I've found a ton of bugs, not sure they should have released this as it is. I started a battle with half of my units near to routing and exhausted, whilst the other half were fresh and fine. What's that all about? And the battle I had where the whole enemy army wheeled 90 degrees to face away from me lol so stupid.
why i can´t leave the game without crash it and freeze the computer do you know any fix? coz this game i love the historical age

They have since made some major changes to the game, yeah!
It's actually way better than I thought it was gonna be (came from playing Attila) the combat system or more to the pony the AI seems more tactical like I noticed a exploit of old to be fixed and noticed the AI was actually trying to think of a way to break my generals defence by moving around me and re-positioning itself after the first wave failed,impressive.
Also just watched THE LAST KINGDOM on Netflix which more or less makes you an expert on the history of Alfred

im not going to lie, this thrones of Britannia was dissapointing. too easy to manipulate the AI and win the game. why does any human think REMOVING content from a total war title and releasing it was going to have a positive light on your franchise? ppl that play these games are no fools, we test our brains because this is our hobby. but this game makes me think you didnt even know how to play a strategy game let alone make one.
