Case knife quality seems to be a roll of the dice. For 85 bucks it should at least be equal a 15 dollar Rough Ryder in fit & finish.
Also, when someone sends a knife in for repair, they should have their best guy inspect the knives before returning them. They make enough money off these knives to at least insure you get your knife back in better condition than it was before. So far I have been lucky with my 3 Case knives from mail order. I'll roll the dice again because GEC is almost impossible to get at retail prices.

I believe that if companies pay their employees enough to compensate them for good work and terminate those who don’t consider the Quality of the product imperative to retaining employment. It would probably solve many problems and quality and control. A company like case should be able to figure out that the more times you have to handle a product the more it cost you money so handling the product one time would be most cost effective. It would also help in their reputation. While I was in college earning my degree I was fortunate enough to me a instructor at hamburger university, school for McDonald’s managers and owners. I receive some very valuable advice, a complaint as a gift. You can apply that to all services as well as the products we consume. Just think about if a consumer got a raw hamburger from McDonald’s and did not complain about it. The outcome could be hazardous to consumers and devastating to the company. If someone complains about the raw hamburger it could potentially save lives by stopping the spread of a food born illness. Just think about it, if you have a wonderful meal and everything goes great how many people are you gonna tell about it? If you have a really bad meal and everything sucked how many people are you going to tell about that? The answer is, if you have a great meal you’re most likely just going to bring it up with a small group of people. If you have the worst meal ever, the food was horrible and the servers were rude and unpleasant most likely you are going to tell everyone who will listen about it. This video is a fine example. Hopefully the manufacturer will listen and improve the product. It’s not brain surgery so it should be easy to figure out that this is a very competitive market and the more happy customers you have the more customers you will retain.

    • @dark_gravity_edc

@@BrandonGavin_EDC i don't disagree. I just know it's caused by the stamping process. Then not having high QC. At this price, like it or not, you're not gonna get super fit and finish in an American made knife. I know Rough Ride can do it at $15 with $1 per hour wages, no OSHA regulations, no EPA regulations but an American company can't. Even GEC isn't perfect.

My two Russ Locks are nowhere close to as well centered as that one is now. I think off center blades are par for the pattern, as long as the blade doesn't have rub scratches I'm happy. One of mine does and one doesn't. Clean it up and break it in and play with it until you master it's one hand opening. It is a fun knife, just accept it for what it is. It is pricy though.

@@BigRedEDC , yeah, I'm a once bitten, twice shy kind of person. It took a while for me to buy Bear & Son after a bad customer service experience. Since then I've had mostly positive experiences with them but I'm still skeptical. I heard recently that Case lost something like like 40% of its work force thanks to the Covid Shutdown and they are still struggling to get back on their feet. My guess is that was a lot of experience that is not going to come back. But this means they really need to strive hard to fix reported problems. They did not handle this situation very well. I'm not ready to give up on any American Knife maker. I see very clearly, that China has fully taken an economic advantage with this whole Covid mess. That said, Case really needs to work harder on fixing known issues. It will be better of them to scale back on production numbers and concentrate on quality control. If they truly took a hit on staff, then they need get the new staff trained and up to speed. Reduce the number of patterns in production, and make sure final checks are being done by the most experience staff available.

I'm also in discussion with an eBay retailer over my grey bone sodbuster blade edge scraping on the top of the liner. It looks to me as if the tang is slightly twisted. I sent pictures of the flaws and they wrote back saying that, quote: "We do see some Case knives with off-centered blades. I understand that this is frustrating, however, this is a common thing in Case knives and the manufacturer does not consider it as defect."

I would guess they replaced it with one that no telling how long it had sat on the shelf. Maybe they fixed it and the process just exposed it to a bunch of airborne particulates. oh no. No way. This makes me never want to buy a Case. Somebody had the nerve to tell me not to buy Rough Ryder and stop supporting "chinamen" and that I should only buy US made. Sorry, I want to buy USA made but when you charge $85 for a old style folder, it better be made perfect with strict quality control. And I have never owned a Zippo lighter that didn't break on me. I litteraly had Bic disposable lighters that lasted longer than a Zippo lighter. So if they own Case, I can say they are ripping people off by overcharging on their folders. Disappointed? I would be highly pissed off!!!!

Yeah...ended up in a pretty sad situation! Never buy another Case knife without seeing it first!

@@BigRedEDC yeah. It's a shame you have to go to a retailer because they have less selection.
