I just can't get past that long toothy spine sticking up while in my pocket or sheath, and I don't care for the thumb switch method of opening. I will take your word on it's usefulness and appeal. lol
Thanks for the video reply. So in your mind is this a general case thing? A lot of channels made videos a few years ago bashing Case for quality but I haven't seen a lot of follow up. I'm getting in to collecting and I want to collect US made, so Case is a natural first choice for me. Most of what I've bought is used stuff off ebay that's about 15-20 years old and it all seems fine. Not sure if I should just stick to that or buy new. I have a 2021 trapper that has a couple issues, but nothing that causes problems for a knife I'm actually using.
Case is a great knife to collect. My general rule with buying a case knife is either get it 1. In person so I can inspect it. 2. Make sure I can do free returns if I have to buy it online. For the most part older case knives are pretty good. But since about 2018+ things have been quantity over quality. they still make great knives, you just have to weed them out of the rest. Goodluck and have fun with the hobby!
@@slipjointguy Thanks man. One thing I've noticed is that the new US made slipjoints that everyone is talking about being super high quality are like 2 to 4 times more expensive than a case, so maybe that's part of it. Btw bought your book for a buddy who has been collecting a long time and he said he is getting some great use out of it. Prolly get one for myself soon.
@@LarryReynolds591 awesome glad he likes it! Gec knives are hard to get when released, but that’s the best production US made slipjoint money can buy! Sign up for email lists and get yourself one… or 5 lol 😂
I've been collecting Case knives for about 50 years . Russlocks and small toothpicks are my main patterns that I collect . I have yet to find any flaws in quality . My favorite EDC is my green pocket worn Russlock with a pocket clip . I wish Case would make more of their knives with pocket clips . The Russlocks tend to wear holes in my pockets and that is why I prefer pocket clips . I only have one with the pocket clip , and would like to buy more . It seems Case only makes limited quantities with the clip . And when they are available , they sell out quickly . As far as quality , I find that weather older or newer , the quality remains the same ( at least up to 2020 ) . I also own a single blade assisted opening trapper with a pocket clip , but that's another story .
Case needs to slow down and focus on quality, even if prices have to increase. Tony Bose had them on the right track for a while but they fell off again.

I love that you plan to keep it in the family.
I love my one russlock. I want one more but with the rare spearpoint.
Actually yes!!! I like them as well!
It seems like some patterns have problems while others don't. 😊
Very cool Video!!
Thanks for the visit

I've always wanted a russlock. But I'll never buy case again - the cq is insulting. Me thinks the only way to get one would be to make from scratch.
