Oh that sound!....wood tips absolutly always ,nylon is for rope making and womens legs.I was sent a cracked cymbal once (why buying used cymbals online only gives you a massive amount of choices, and price points, but pay inflated shipping prices and risk being sent a stinker), love the fact you care so much about your cymbal choices, sounds they generate and history.i hope it never dies by your hands and gives you years of beautiful sounds.and may it get filthy n the process.

Lovely cymbal, I have old K hi-hats from same era.
Btw modern Kerope bells are, or at least were until recently, hand formed (which as you say doesn’t really happen at Zildjian these days) so although hands were used they weren’t using manual hammers, it was with a hammer that has power like a jackhammer type thing. So is kind of a cross between hand hammering randomness and automated in the sense that the power comes from the tool more than the arm, if that makes sense. I don’t know the name of the tool sorry but this is coming from an interview I heard with Paul Francis and he said all Kerope bells were formed by him or this one other guy

I had a very similar experience at the old Maxwell's; I couldn't find something that I was crazy about until they had me try a cymbal they had just gotten in (not an old K unfortunately!). One of my favorite cymbals still, and a lot of people dig it! Sometimes the timing is perfect like that! Congrats on the new (old) cymbal, definitely looking forward to hearing it more!

I personally feel a cymbal hammered by hand has way more character and soul than any modern stamped. Old dirty Zildjian for me. Your 20'' sounds really nice but it's a crime to use a nylon tip on that thing man.

you got the years right but it's a 4B...the Made in Turkey wraps - not splayed- around the crescent. It's the later 4...4B... Last of the Old Stamps .

But please stop saying phrase “very unique”. There are no degrees of uniqueness. It’s either unique or it’s not. Thank you. Lovely cymbal again ❤
