    It's always a good time when you yell at yourself in post-production about going too slowly. "LET'S GO!!" lol

      Its kinda funny watching the raw footage because I'm not "making videos" when I'm recording. I'm just recording whatever happens on the bench. LETS GO!

    I had a Troy-Bilt trimmer once. It ran great for a couple of seasons and then became a bear to start. I'm currently using my 20 year old B&D 20 volt cordless. Down to two batteries though.
    Good job on the fix

      You don't have a ryobi trimmer? I know you have batteries.

      @@TheGreasyShopRag I do have a Ryobi trimmer, but I prefer my old B&D. I’ll probably get a 40v Ryobi trimmer when it dies

    Also considering the curve shaft Troy built weed-eater in case I don’t like the straight shaft, so will see, but do like straight shaft cause it’s easier to trim around hard to reach areas of my big lawn.

    Thanks for the video! Just bought one from major retailer. Got it home, put it together and tried for an hour yesterday and today to get it to start. Nothing! Went back to retailer and was told once it has gas in it, can't return it. How the hell can you know if it doesn't work out of the box. This model too. Going to visit with GM on Tuesday. Again, great info. They have no inhouse service........

      We hear that type of story all the time. I know its cheaper to buy from a big box store or online but is it really? You're gonna have a lot of time and frustration in this simple trimmer purchase when a dealer would have had it prepped and test run before you got it. I wonder if their "gas" policy is posted anywhere for you to see?

    On those troy bilt some times the 2 bolts hold the jug or cylinder to lower crane casing will come lose and you have to tighten them back down to seal it . Mine did it I had stored it for 3 year cause it just would not run . Had fire put brand new carb and lines on it steal would not run . So after 3 years in storage instead of buying a brand new one I figured I'd give it one more look over and thought well I never looked at muffler to see if it was clogged and when I took it off I could see those 2 bolts holding jug on was just about to fall out I put lock tight on them and tighten them down good put it back together and it runs better than it did when it was brand new

    • @TheGreasyShopRag
      @TheGreasyShopRag  Год назад +2

      @@randyc2525 Yes. It allows you to change the gap with a thumb screw. Many manufacturers recommend setting the gap around 6mm. If it jumps that gap with a nice blue spark then you know your module has the reserve power it needs. Other testers just tell you yes or no on spark with no clue as to weak or strong.

    Definitely considering to buy a the troy-built straight shaft weed-eater for my place next spring. They’re very powerful and heard they perform well overall. Especially the straight shaft cause have almost half an acre of lawn at my house.

    ❓ What MTD part did you use? I want to be able to order the right one. The only one that I see is for a Craftsman not a Troy-Bilt two cycle. Do you have a reference or a link or even an order number? Thank you in advance. I am doing everything I can to avoid going green here.

      @@RoyalCaribbeanCruiseChronicles that's the idea, to force customers into throwing them away and buying a new one, over and over and over again. it's called the sustainable business model. I've seen a lot of people throw away their trimmers simply because they had no idea they could adjust the pac man screws and get it running again. the user manuals don't even mention those carburetor adjustment screws because they don't want regular Joe homeowner to be able to fix his own trimmer.
