  • New version of the braided scarf. This scarf uses (US terms) chain, double crochet and half double crochet. I have used DK (6 ply) mandala yarn with a 5 mm hook. Suitable for a beginner who is familiar with the stitches used. Finished size is 30" long by 9" wide. PLEASE NOTE THE START CHAIN IS 29 CHAIN AND NOT 30 AS SAID IN THE VIDEO

    Hi dear
    I wanted to thank you for your beautiful tutorial. I am a beginner and I was able to make the cowl for my 11 years old daughter .
    You are patient and I could see which chain you are working on. The counting did help a lot too . Thank you again 🙏🏻

    Started another one this morning but making it 2 braids vice 3. I started with a ch of 20, then bpdc in the 3rd ch from the end & did a total of 6 bpdc throughout the entire tutorial. I only did 7 bpdc in the middle between the loops.

    what is the difference between this and your other video of this pattern? you do a great job teaching. :)

    • @CrochetNutsTutorials
      @CrochetNutsTutorials  5 лет назад +4

      The pattern is different, the braids have hdc instead of dc, this means they will lay slightly flatter, and the scarf is a little narrower. :)

      @@CrochetNutsTutorials I like it better too with the half doubles. It does seem to lay flatter like you said in video. Are you Australian by chance? I love your accent so much it's very soothing!!!

    • @CrochetNutsTutorials

      The stitched at the start and between braids is one les on each and the stitches jn the chain loop are now half doubles instead of doubles. Hope this helps :)

    I'm coming out with 7 stitches at the end of the first row😕😕😕. I chained 30. DC in 3rd chain from hook, the chain 3 + the DC = 2 DC. Did 4 more DC for a total of 6 DC. Make a loop. DC in next 8 stitches. Make a loop. DC in next 8 stitches. Make a loop. I have 7 stitches left😕😕😕

      I do apologise I had count the 6 dc at each side forgetting one is made from the chain, thank you for bringing to my attention and apologies for the confusion

    So is this the cowl, or an actual scarf?

    • @CrochetNutsTutorials
      @CrochetNutsTutorials  5 лет назад +4

      You can make it any way you wish, if you add the buttons then it will be a cowl, if you choose to make it longer with no buttons it would be a scarf.

    Can u use red heart yarn

    • @CrochetNutsTutorials
      @CrochetNutsTutorials  5 лет назад +3

      Yes you can use any yarn, just make sjre to use the correct size hook as stated on the ball band, this one was made with UK Double knit which is 8 ply, I think the US version is called light worsted. Hope that helps, happy crochetting :)

    • @jannetteanderson5068
      @jannetteanderson5068 5 лет назад +2

      I'm presently using Red Heart Super Saver yarn & using a G/4.25 hook & it's perfect. I strongly suggest though NOT TO use bulky yarn otherwise it will be too thick...………..I've used Mandala yarn which is a #3 weight & it turned out fine as well

    Any chance of closed captions for a deaf crocheter like me?

    • @CrochetNutsTutorials

      I have added subtitles for the 2 row pattern (UK English) hope this helps

    • @sarahr00r
      @sarahr00r 5 лет назад +5

      @@CrochetNutsTutorials Thank you so much. Very helpful.
      When I saw it yesterday on list it stated subtitles but when I watched it it said chain 29 not 20 twice in the first 0.20 of the video then no more subtitles for rest of video that's why I asked.
      So thank you on behalf of other deaf crocheters

      Work 2 or more rows with no loops at the beginning and 2 or more rows after the final loop . Once braided it will have a straight edge at the top and bottom :)
