    I really like what Citizen have done with their vintage , I have several Early Citizens from the 60's and find the history of them fascinating . Great video and would love to see a more in depth review of them

    I have one from 83, in a good condition. Almost 40 years old, and runs very good after so many years. One can really build a collection with Eagle 7s. With a proper maintanance and regulation they outperforms many watches from the very same period.

    Oldies but goodies popular watchers, there are many I've seen for repair, really like your review on these time pieces, have to say I share same interest in the eagle seven cause recently i found a really cool piece nice stainless steel hexagonal case. Anyhow just like to collect these functional objects.

    Hi dear friend. I revived my father's Eagle 7 and it runs super smooth. I had to change the Jubilee bracelet and the Plexi. And once I serviced it....it gives me a 1second per day gain.

    It is necessary to change the glass on the oris as moisture can cause corrosion of the clock mechanism and hands.

    Problem is eBay seems flooded with dodgy "restored" Eagle7's coming out of India. Much like Indian Franken-Seikos... you never know what you're going to get... or how many days before the watch stops.working...

      I think I got hit by one of these. It looks like a redial and new hands. Fingers crossed it lasts more than a week. For 40 bucks, I’m not even annoyed.

    Hi,
    i have a few vintage watches that i think represent amazing value from the 1950s era. Unfortunately the 60s and 70s chronographs that i love so much have been so badly hyped up that the prices now don't represent good value.
    With that in mind i decided to go back 10 to 15 years before the 60s and hunt around. And as an example i picked up an amazing Longines for 150 pounds the other day and there are many of them around that price. Also the famous french brand LIP has some stunning watches from this era, all around that price too. you can also pick up Eincar watches from the 50s that are great value.
    If you look passed citizen and sieko theres a lot of other brands that represent much better value for money and i would argue even heritage

    That's a nice collection there.... I think the citizen bullhead is also a good collectors watch, you should do a review of it once 👍🏻

    Love the vintage Citizens. There's a gang of vintage Seiko 5 automatic watches on Ebay for $15 with free shipping. You should order a few and do a review on them.

    • @ReviewCrap
      @ReviewCrap 7 лет назад +2

      Be careful with those.... those are the ones being "restored" in India. I have purchased many of those (not Citizen's, but Seikos mostly). The first one I purchased from India lasted a week before the winding rotor came loose. When it did work, it was over 5 minutes slow per day. Because they only charge $15 or so, they don't have to the time to spend on checking them AT ALL. Not saying don't do it, just saying that you should just expect it to not work at all.....These watches are "franken-watches", they have parts cobbled together from a pile of dead watches and fancy new dials

      @GuitarMike1300 7 лет назад +1

      I Review Crap! That must be why some say "repaired with Seiko and non Seiko parts" I guess bumping the price up to the $50 range you would get a better one for sure'

    • @ReviewCrap
      @ReviewCrap 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, but as itsKibble said, probably avoid ones out of India. Quite frankly buying any watch from there is hit or miss... just sayin'....

    I'm a big fan of Citizen vintage also. I think it is a way better than it's same level rival: Seiko 5 with their 7s26, 7009, 6309 etc. Because Citizen has manual winding feature that cheaper Seiko has not. Also it is robust movement (at least based on my watchmaker opinion). I wear Cal. 6501 from 1971, The Parawater. It is a nice watch. I recently also got a JDM Cal.8200A Citizen which was manufactured in the exactly same year and month of my birthday. Citizen is too underrated brand. It is amazing watch. But so sad they don't continue to make the automatic because focusing on their eco-drive.

  • @Greg-tj8rg
    @Greg-tj8rg 5 лет назад

    Have you considered replacing the movement rather than getting it serviced? You can buy the movement for dirt cheap on ebay for like $30 new. Not sure how much the service costs you but in my area it would be more economical to replace the movement. I would certainly save the movement but just a thought

  • @tomasinacovell4293

    Wonderful collection, keep doing that! One thing about these Miyota cal.8200's is that they are actually based on "A. SCHILD S.A." Swiss movements, Adolf. Schild that went O.O.B. decades ago. Probably why they are so stable, nice large balance wheels, nice proportions, very Swiss, also Chinese companies like DIXMONT GUANGZHOU, SEA-GULL use the design. It just goes on and on...

    In most cases, in the Rolex world, they are referred to as wide boy vs fat boy. I know, semantics but it is generally the preferred nomenclature.
    I would also add that I am in the same camp as you; preferring the Citizen over the Seiko 5. Great video!

    • @itsKibbleTalksWatches
      @itsKibbleTalksWatches  7 лет назад +4

      I'd advise applying the same rules you would with any vintage watch. "Buy the seller" as they say! Check feedback, ask questions about age, condition, any notable marks, how is it running, last service etc?
      Also watch out for redials! As I said in the video these are hit hard by redials, mainly from India, so I'd just advise never buying a Eagle 7 from India but you still have to know what to look out for. I show many Eagle 7's in this video so cross check the watch picture against my video, typically the most noticeable thing on a redial is the Eagle, on redials they are much larger... Also "Automatic" written on the dial never looks 100% on redials...
      Hope that helped! Best of luck :D

      About your vintage value for money question: I think vintage timex represents great value, I recently bought two from the 60s for a total of 10€ in nearly mint condition.

  • @tak178

    If you want to get into vintage pieces for not much money, you can't beat Timex. Their jewelless automatics are built extremely well. You can find flawless pieces on eBay from $20-$50 if you do your homework.
