"There once was a boy who likes to suck his thumb. His mom told him to stop but he wouldn't, So someone cuts off his thumbs. Now he has no thumbs,Good Night".
The Scissorman is creepy enough, but the thought of the mom not caring, and even calling him naughty and giving him a broom to sweep up the blood is fucking messed up
If you think she's an a-hole now, it gets worse. In some other versions of this story, the mother hires and sends the scissorman to cut off her kid's thumbs.
This is a german book made for kids ... when i was little my mom showed me these stories to scare the shit out of me and than ofcourse i did what she told me
EXCELLENT The English translation is more disturbing than Hoffmann’s original German, with the mother almost becoming a willing participant, as demonstrated by her final remark “I knew he’d come to naughty suck-a-thumb!”: in the German version she merely observes the sad Konrad and his thumbless hands. This short film takes the story from the book to an even higher level of callousness and gruesomeness. In the film, the frightened and lonely Konrad is forced by his terrifying surroundings to indulge in comforting thumb-sucking. The tailor has evolved from being a mere enforcer of rules and has now become a proud and talented artist in his civil role. Mother too has changed: originally she was a cold disciplinarian, but now she has progressed to being a sadist. The black and white format helps create a sombre ‘Sin City’ atmosphere. Very creative use has been made of the four original illustrations, plus their adaptations to create new postures (such as of Konrad lying on the floor and especially of the thumb-cutting tailor). The creepy sound-track too cleverly contributed to this thoroughly disturbing audiovisual experience. Of course I have no idea about the film’s intended audience and neither could I find anything about the its creators. Congratulations to them anyway; in my perverse way, I thought it was superb.
Imagine being a kid, sucking on your thumb(as you do), and suddently a large man with a top hat, oversized scissors and clown-like shoes barges in your room, starts jumping all over then cuts both of your thumbs like butter. Yep, even more freaky when you think about it.
This animated horror short makes the original book on its own look like a "Dora the Explorer" education book. Not only is the animation choppy and awkward looking, adding to the creepiness of the whole thing, but the audio and lack of music also makes it especially chilling. This may make your kids pee the bed, but at least they're sure to never get an overbite from sucking their thumb.
