Those rear shocks should have been mounted in "double shear". The rear shocks are currently mounted against the rotation of the Heim joints, they should be mounted just like the trailing arms. This current setup WILL bind NEAR the ends of the travel in jounce and rebound.
Took my car to a well known Chassis guy and he allowed me to watch him and gave me some pointers, best money i ever spent saved me alot of time and money.
If one of the upper control arm has some pre load in it, (shorter) , than that side will not hang as low as the other side, and it has to have some preload in it to go straight. And no matter the the anti squat, the car will only seperate till the upper control arm is level, after that it pushes front end up, and I love this car on the channel, and know it’ll fly once it’s ironed out, but I really think it could benefit from a stator change in the converter. Seems it is super tight early on making it hard to get off the line. And high percentage of slip out the back, that’s where the mph is your chasing with the more power it’s making, Just my 2 cents. Can’t wait to see the video of it from this weekend coming up!!!!!
Really do not like the lower shock mounts. Should not a spherical "rod" end be mounted the same as a heim joint (turned 90 degree from where they are now)?
Unhook your passenger side top bar. Square your 4 link to the main loop. Set your ride height and put your driver in it. Make sure the reared is square. Sweat Racing
The right rear frame appears bent upwards, so the shock mount point on right rear is up higher than the left rear. Just my 2 cents but that is a repair that needs dealt with first. Take both shocks off the car. Drop the rear end down on 2 jack stands till level, now measure floor up to the upper shock mount centers? Still off...redo the upper right rear shock mount to match the left rear ground to center, then remount after measuring the full extension on both shocks off the car. Fix the shocks if not matching, then remount them and measure rear again.
So how can you run all steel all glass if there's all that bondo??? Lol.... just playin. As I and others have said before the car is gorgeous, that glossy red, smoked headlights, those black Alpha rims..... mmmmmm checkin all the boxes. I'm not even a ford nut,(really I like em all), but the fact Randy kept a Ford powerplant is the cherry on top for me. Keep grindin yall will get to your goals!
Check your shock settings , make sure they're the same before you do anything drastic , its very common to have them different and easy to lose track of
I would think you would want to be in the 175% or more AS with the unequal length bars. I would also make sure the shocks are the same extended length.
Great video thanks. I'm just setting up my Fairmont, it hasnt been on the track yet. I have adjustable lower brackets and 3 holes on the top bars. I'm running a QP 9 inch so the housing tabs are a little higher than a 8.8. I want to get it set up best I can before going to the track. Thanks
Did you measure the actual shock length to be sure they arent sticking and are free moving without the springs? Ive seen new shocks gall in the bore, it was a fluke shock and hasnt happened again but anytime something strange happens its the first thing we go to now lol
I wouldn't have thought of that.. it's always the fluke things like that that are permanently ingrained in your brain once you FINALLY find the problem lol.
On small tire angle the bottom bar up and your going to need a long IC to help the weight of the car. Or either move some weight to the rear of the car.
Cool, informative video! Tell randy I have a brand new steel rear quarter panel for that car. Lol. I bought a coupe like his and it came with the car. Guy said it was the only one in the world. Idk. Love the videos man
Even at the 14:04 time on this video, when yall set the car down on the scales on the blocks. You can see that left rear conner come down first, and the right front conner come down last of them all. It's like the car is in a bind sumwere .. or is it the way the lift is coming down .
Something's a little off somewhere. Whether it was the lift or the car itself, but it's obviously there was a differenc in rear end travel or leight, and it made a big difference when you dropped it on the right side just trying to adjust it..
John, your 9.75” upper bar measurement, is that the actual distance from bolt hole to bolt hole? Or is that true horizontal distance as installed in the car?
Please don't see this as disrespect as it's not intent ! But my question is with randy in car does that change the difference in distance from side to side ! I honestly don't know so I'm asking
Car needs to be scaled and aligned with the driver in it. Randy is a big guy and whatever settings are established with him out the car will change with him in it.
That could have been from rockingham who’s your daddy when he went towards the wall and the rear left was a foot off the ground, him counter steering it. Maybe that got it?!
Shocks travel off move shocks to top hole measure shock travel then adjust it to make it equal you need to now shock travel set it on ground see where your travels at go from there had problems on my car when shock mounts where moved didn’t catch it until later measure your shock when it’s down on ground measure your shock shaft go from there good luck

Pull the anti roll bar arms and sèe if it levels out
Definitely could have some twist
The problem is preload in antiroll bar first thing always do is on hook oneside it was still hook up in video

Seems like Tim Mcamus has a video on suspension setup. Man is a wealth of knowledge
Kevin Wilson also has an excellent suspension setup channel .
Bill Kuhlman -orig.pro-mod & 1st 200 mph door car has a Facebook 1x week podcast and built many chassis.

Man i say it every time but that car is beautiful, i know you guys will get it ironed out
Its definitely an art setting up the suspension correctly.

Preload in the upper bar and anti roll

Turn the shock mounts 90 degrees, they'll never Bind up. It's not a 4 by four, it's a drag Racer.
Agreed on that bottom shock mount, I'd turn it sideways!
Can't wait to see what it is my car is the same we just staggered the shock mounts we were in a hurry
Hope to seeing improvements next time out. Thanks for the updates.
Oh John, you're a good artist, perfect dots & lines, just connect the dots & whah lah~there you go! 😂👍
😂

Duhh, take total length of car and divide by 2. I got you John. I got you.
Rearend problem is in antiroll bar un hook one side it has preload in it instant center I would move bottom bar down in rear top bar up in front
It was unhooked
It's got to be in shock then
What makes the rear and be on one side then the other is I believe if you're not running Center pinion
On small tire angle the bottom bar up and your going to need a long IC to help the weight of the car. Or either move some weight to the rear of the car.

Will do, thanks
shock sensor topped out
That is exactly what I was thinking.
I agree
absolutely @@johnunruh1086
That would scare me! Double shear the other way is a lot safer. Switch shocks side to side.
Great info as usual brother!
Measure from the bottom of the frame to the top of the tire!🤩🤩
The rear end will hang like that when there is pre-load in the four bar.
Lots of good ideas here. You’ll figure it out

Hey turbo John what’s the ground clearance on this mustang from the ground trying to get a general idea for my mustang
Not much, 3-4"......it's very low
Always start from full tight , no matter what anyone says
Would flipping the shock mount in the bracket change the angle of the bar/mount reducing the impingement from angle?
John, your 9.75” upper bar measurement, is that the actual distance from bolt hole to bolt hole? Or is that true horizontal distance as installed in the car?
right shock is showing less shaft then the driver shock
Good luck guys!
Need to see how it sits with Randy sitting in the driver seat!
The anti roll bar is extending his side down, to compensate for his weight
Please don't see this as disrespect as it's not intent ! But my question is with randy in car does that change the difference in distance from side to side ! I honestly don't know so I'm asking

@@hoost3056kinda a lard a$$ comment. You should be ashamed 🤯
Man having a little guy around help Courtney is top notch
One shock longer then the other?
Not sure about that intro music
Did you guys get the rear end figured out ? Why is it off ?
We did not figure it out......but for sure think the hanging difference is part of the issue
That could have been from rockingham who’s your daddy when he went towards the wall and the rear left was a foot off the ground, him counter steering it. Maybe that got it?!
In my limited experience, 129 percent anti squat is not enough AS to get enough separation for radials.
TJ go over and look at mak/TV he just had the same things going on with his truck and he got it fixed
Yall, will figure it out! You're, on your way! Randy's, car will be flying soon!
Randy got money. Get than man a set of pro jacks.
The car is draining the bank!
Would u possibly get a devin to help yall get started with a solid tune? From a pro ? Jwn
Tkm does Randy’s tune . John just does power management
@@jkfonyi they do !?
5 Thousand views and only 570 likes..😞..come on people smash that like 👍button!! Love your videos Turbo John!! 👍
Thanks
I am waiting for that car to knock off a low 4.sec pass
Your sure that car ain’t tweaked from the wreck ?
Maybe
LETS GOOOOOOOOOO!!
Take measurements from the frame, NOT the body.
John fyi that intro music is terrible in my opinion, but love ya channel ❤
I like it
shoot for 190is 10 high 30in... thank me later
Promod problems!!!!
What’s wrong is that god forsaken excuse for music in your vids.
I like the music
Sup with the woke intro music 😢
I like it
It looks like you have the wrong length shock on there or the sensor is topped out
