Nice. Been looking for a non-fiction book on Queerness. I will check this out. Recently finished Matt Baume's Hi Honey, I'm Homo which deals with Queerness on American television. I recommend it.

Thanks Steve for the Matt Baume recommendation. I grew up with American TV in the 1970s. British television had more visible queerness at the time and earlier, so when I arrived in the UK it was eye opening. I have always wondered exactly how American TV made the transition

@@heathereads oh, I should mention that he has a RUclips channel where he talks about Queerness in TV (and film) as well.

Very interesting review! Do you know of any Victorian authors who added to this history? I am especially interested in the suspicion of young men who had no facial hair - my dear old dad encouraged me to grow a beard at the peach-fuzz age of 17 for pretty much the same reason (I know this because he just flat out told me to put hair on my face and not be a ****) and he was also suspicious of my love of Elton John at that age HAHAHA. Then again, my religious school required me to shave every day and was suspicious of my love of Black Sabbath, good grief I could not please anyone back then!!! Dad excused my clean shaven face when I joined the military HAHA. Thank you for the video.

This entry from the author's bibliography looks interesting - White, C. (ed.), Nineteenth-Century Writings on Homosexuality: A Sourcebook (London, 1999)
