I gasped because the other night I was lying in bed and truly thought I had this world altering idea of a book where the characters are genderless and up to the readers interpretation and then you started talking about Sphinx😭prob a sign I should read it
OMG THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE THE TIME WAR MY BELOVED (I lost count of how many times I've read it at this point). Highly recommend it! Thank you for including recs I don't usually see in queer rec videos! Added a few to my TBR!
My queer recs: RWRB, Boyfriend Material, Husband Material (sequel), Simon vs the Homo sapiens agenda, the lucky list, she gets the girl, meet cute diary, cafè con lychee, cemetery boys, love & other disasters, the charm offensive, not all characters but 1 sis out of the 4 and the dad are queer but I’ll still recommend Drizzle, Dreams, and Lovestuck things by Maya Prasad for the stunning wholesome and cutie vibes. Like the dad is such a cutie🥹
I truly think you would adore the book “You Exist Too Much” by Zaina Arafat! It has queer characters and Palestinian main characters, which I believe to be very important to read about❤
i would be def be interested in a book club for buddy reading! i know you mentioned fable, but storygraph has a buddy read feature and recently launched their book club feature as well as another option!
my queer author rec is caro de robertis!! so far i've read 'cantoras' and 'the gods of tango' and both are absolutely STUNNING works of historical fiction set in south america (uruguay and argentina respectively). i cant wait to read the rest of caro's work, they're one of my all time favourite authors! (i commented about cantoras on your recent community post but i cant stfu about it hahaha, and it just occurred to me that this thread would be a good home for it too! i love scrolling my fave booktube channels' comment sections for extra recs :) happy pride!!)
I love the rainbow format for introducing queer books. I'm still only halfway through The Sword of Kaigen, but eventually I'll finish it and then I'm gonna start Priory of the Orange Tree for June. A queer author I'll recommend for June is Becky Chambers. I think I've read all of her books that have been published so far. Beautiful writing. The Wayfarers series is a lot of "slice of life" type scifi content with a bunch of queer folks (and aliens with different concepts of gender and sexuality) mixed in. The Monk and Robot novellas feature a nonbinary tea monk who is trying to figure out the meaning of their life and they make friends with a robot that wants to learn about humans. Chambers also has a stand alone novella that has a much different vibe from the other stuff she's written. Wayfarers and Monk and Robot are two series that make me feel good about humanity, though. Hopeful. So those are the two series I'd recommend most, especially in this political climate.
You always give the most interested book recommendations, thank you!!!!! I hope you’re liking the Sword of Kaigen, I have heard amazingggg things about that book!
@@tiachu It's been hard to read because I got to the part where sad stuff happens and I just want all these characters that I like to be happy! I'm such a dork! I need to watch some Bridgerton or something as a palate cleanser.
Speaking of books that require a palate cleanser. A book that IS a palate cleanser is Legends and Lattes, plus the prequel. There's some cute Sapphic romance there. And I think I'll put the prequel on my June TBR cause I'm gonna need it after Sword of Kaigen.
I've got The Song of Achilles on my TBR this month! I LO♡E Priory of the Orange Tree, and A Day of Fallen Night even more! Really liked TiHyL Time War. Sphinx looks great!
Here's some of mine -The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave -The Mermaid the Witch and the Sea by Maggie Tokuda-Hall -A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske -The Midnight Girls by Alicia Jasinska -Taken by the Witch Queen by Luna Fury (smut) -Fires of Vengeance by Evan Winter -Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao -Dragonfall by L.R Lam -The Witche's Heart by Genevieve Gornichec -Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall -August Kitko and the Mechas from Space by Alex White -Moonflowers and Nightshade (short story anthology) -Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant
im currently reading "the last night in the telegraph club" and i love it so much. im scared to finish it bc i know it wont ever feel the same as when i first read it if i decide to reread it
if you love dragons and especially QUEER dragons you should def read WOF although it doesn't outright say its queer there are relationships that literally show itself and you def get tension between some characters mostly the 13th(I think) is VERY saphic(idk how to spell it) between two FEMALR dragons from dif tribe branches :D
EVEN THE DRAGONS ARE QUEER OMG I LOVE THIS SOOOO MUCH THANK U FOR THE REC AHHH (im assuming WOF = wings of fire right from my initial google search HAHA)
for more Alice Oseman, i will always recommend Loveless! I've also had last night at the telegraph club on my tbr for AGES it feels like so if you make a fable account for it, I wouldn't not join lol as long as it's something you really wanna do
Thanks for doing this video, I already had These Violent Delights and Kiss Her Once For Me. Added both to my Up Next List on StoryGraph. Put a Libby hold on Mrs. Nash's Ashes. Bought Cinema Love (it was already on my TBR based upon your previous recommendation) and Exhibit. I will revisit your other suggestions at a later time. I recommend Imogen, Obviously by Becky Albertalli and You're Not Supposed to Die Tonight by Kalynn Bayron. I would have recommended I Kissed Shara Wheeler. I'm glad you already read it. I recently did my first buddy read. I quite enjoyed it. I would be interested in a group buddy read.
Okay, so many great recs byt Sphynx?! My goodness, it sounds way too awesome to be real, I wanna pick it up asap u.u Also, a bookclub/buddy read with you? WHERE DO I SIGN UP
