The way Cissy started was just so classy. She commanded attention from that first soprano entry.Haha I love the way Cissy slapped Patti. Patti's chest is off the chain.
I always come back for Phyllis Hyman. She just kills it for me. Of course Stevie and Patti do what they do too.
Reberta Flack sounds just like her albums... incredible. Patti and Nick does it for me absolutely 🎉❗ fantastic performance from them all but Mrs. Holt stole the show!!!

The only reason I listen to this live performance is because of Phyllis Hyman. She and her voice touched my soul. She reached out and touched my hand. Her phrasing, her tone, her gestures on stage. That's it-- I've decided! She is my number one most favourite vocalist of all time.
Patti is the best with High notes, and black people tend to love that, shes a legend. BUT listen to Phyllis Hyman phrasing and artistry and how she takes those words and break them down. thats SINGING!!!
Valarie Simpson can also reach patties vocal level ....maybe not the full power of Patti....so underrated singer Patti.

Every one of these immensely talented artists kill... but for me, Roberta & Phyllis are the reason this clip is so essential.
Roberta has a voice soft as butter, but make no mistake - that voice commands your attention and respect.

Not caring about how people think or how she looks. I believe its honesty..i think thats how she is able to hit those notes.. she channel her inner self outward not inward

I've never seen the legendary Ashford and Simpson in concert, thank God I was able to see the late great Phyllis Hyman in concert. I've got to get to New York to see the legendary Valerie, the great love of Nick's life. Pray for Valerie because today 8/26/11 is her birthday and I'm sure it's not easy after celebrating almost 50 years with her husband. It's good to know that God will be her comfort and strength, not just today but for the rest of her life.
The True Beauty Was All The Music Ashford And Simpson Has Written for all those Singers on Stage... That Was So Beautiful it's like Dying and Coming Back... All Those Artist Music Has Healed My Generation and My Moms Generation Somehow... ALL Their Voices Is And Was Priceless... What A treat to have all that Talent and Wonder in One Room but that's what Ashford and Simpson brought out everytime they appeared. The True Talent Showed up and Showed Out. Amen... This so reflects me on live, that in life there is time for everything and that we are all time bound.. Here I see Cissy still strong and profound but now she has really aged and weakened no more of these joyful moments.. The Simpsons the love and bond they had that now it is broken and irreparable. Life is really a ball that keeps turning!
