    Retired Navy SEAL Dorr demonstrates how to transition from rifle to your pistol. If your primary weapon system goes down, i.e. your rifle, it's important to immediately transition to your secondary firearm--your pistol.

    Great reminders. This drill can be done dry fire as well. It’s the muscle memory that usually needs the work. ✌🏼

    Fix bayonets and charge @Dorr....Infantry style!!!!

      you know I really would like to see a transition and double tap on target, at 5 yds, 7 yds and 10 yds timed against a bayonet charge by a highly motivated Infantryman.
      I'd be willing to bet that especially at 5 yards, the bayonet charge is significantly faster.

    Best tip of the day:”Don’t be in a hurry”. The only thing that really matters is shot placement. If you don’t take enough time to ensure your shot, nothing else really matters. Most of the time slow is fast and fast is slow until you train and develop the necessary mental and muscle memory.

    Nothing replaces training. Even standing in front of a mirror at home running dry fire drills, is training.

    Something we cover, keeping in mind of not being in a rush to get back to your rifle, is magazine exchange of pistol before transitioning to fix your rifle. Many ways to skin a cat. Just a bit of info. Stay safe everyone.

    I know I can count on the Hyve for info and demonstrations that are useful in a possible bad situation. As long as ya'll keep making videos, I'll keep watching and learning. I do have one question, but it isn't about tactics or drills. I have a Sig p229 .40 cal that is a former service weapon that I am thinking about buying a .357 Sig barrel for and use it instead of the .40 cal. What is your opinion on the .357 Sig round performance vs the .40 S&W round for stopping power and general efficiency. Thanks In Advance.

    • @steveelder5306
      @steveelder5306 Год назад

      it's a better round than a .40 but probably not way much better. it's also harder to find but it pretty much matches the original .357 mag in it's 125 gr loading which is the number one stopper in handgun rounds of all time. but you're not going to get any encouragement on the .40 or .357 Sig on one of these channels. round here it's 9mm or go home Fudd.

    I checked out Vedder holsters, not only do they not have the holster for the gun I have but when I try to tell them what I have their website keeps telling me that I have an invalid email address when I know that it's valid... So they've lost my business and I'm off to another company thanks anyway

    While the knowledge is important wouldn't it be more efficient to step aside let your buddy handle it if you get a click instead of transitioning to a secondary?

    • @flyoverkid55
      @flyoverkid55 Год назад +1

      Assuming you have a partner, and he isn't wounded, he may not be particularly thrilled when you bail in the middle of a gunfight because your rifle went down. Circumstances will dictate [ # of adversaries, distance, cover, etc. ], but getting your pistol up and in the fight is probably the best option if the fight is ongoing.
