1:10 obviously Dorr is a pro. But that right there is exactly why I always tuck my shirt in, that handgun isn't seated. If he moved after, that handgun is gone. I've known a lot of dudes that have lost secondary weapons because a garment has gotten in the way. It's just the range but what can happen on the range can and will happen out of the range.
No hate intended
He’s just standing there. Guns not going anywhere but thx for noticing.
I couldn’t take my eyes off that T-shirt. Just haven’t seen that in my couple years of learning.
@@tacticalhyvecadre1049 that’s not the point
The slide stop is actually what is getting caught on the holster. I hadn’t used that set up in a few years. Good eye Zakc.
First thing that caught my eye was the shirt / holster interaction. The holster doesn't look like is has active retention (ALS ect...) doesn't take take much to foul up a re-holster. Looked like there was enough loose shirt to possibly get itself in to the trigger guard. Just my OBS.
In a world of polymer pistols everywhere and almost all the time, it is a fun thing to see a P226 still getting it done!
Love it Tyler, this vid is my first time back on the 226 in years.
...but, oh that nasty double action....not for me
@@dorr600 So with a DA/SA would you first pull the trigger again, or immediately go to a tap rack?
@craigbenz4835 always good to not change things up. Tap, Rack, Squeeze
I can honestly say I’m appreciating the tactical hive more everyday. Just great content and real world honest digestible information. Humble guys that get it done right.
That shirt in that holster. Holy cow could only pay attention that and he touched it with his hand a few times.
Don't worry, he's a high speed, low drag, operator operating operationally.
He knows what he's doing.
IMHO, this channel easily has the best content in this genre. I saw a little recoil anticipation around the 3:50 mark. I’m closing in on 10k rounds since 9-2020 and recoil anticipation is currently the most significant challenge that I’m working to overcome. Awesome video!
Thanks Dorr for sharing the 5 drills. Appreciate knowing about the draw for longer distances.
Dorr is a great teacher, you have to watch his video's at least twice; once to listen and (at least) once to watch all the little things he's doing. Thanks!!!
👍 Will give these a go as close to what you demonstrated as possible. Thanks Dorr and TH.
all good drills. Thanks Dorr
I hope this channel continues to succeed and thrive, and that many viewers continue to learn to shoot well - including safe gun handling. Take care.
simple, smooth and effective drills - excellent stuff , thanks Dorr ;)
Great video. I'm also so glad that every commenter is an expert. Keep coming with the awesome content TH!
Can we take a second to discuss how annoying the Safariland GLS holster is when attempting to re-holster ermergerd! Pros, it's very universal and the draw is super quick but geeeeez that locking mechanism has a mind of its own when trying to put the gun back in haha Thank you Dorr for the training vid! 'Tactical Hive' is full of such great teachers.
I think you need a new holster my guy
Some useful info. Great video.
Outstanding 🤙🏼
Dorr glad you are in front of the camera these days. Love Coch and Miles but you add another spice to the training recipe. Thanks.
Dude is a rock star. From the heart training.
Thanks for the videos and training 👍🇦🇺
Thank you!
Thank you
great vids
Another excellent video.
Absolutely correct about shooting is a perishable skill.
Got on an AR kick and have not shot any handgun in a while. Past 2 weekends have been pistol only and I'm surprised how my skills went downhill. Not horrible but rusty. Holster skills primarily and if you are rusty, it'll show.
That's awesome how simple he makes tactical training 👀🔥
Good stuff
Great drills Dorr. I need to warm up with at least those first four next time at the range.
Dorr, could you go over the nuances of pistol hand/support hand pressure?
I mean, we have gone over hand placement, but there's dozens of different configurations of pressure placement, all while having the, "Proper" pistol grip.
My #1 question is how much squeezing pressure do I use in my three fingers on the front of the grip? It seems the less I use, the better I am with the trigger, yet the recoil management gets worse.
perfect
Hey! I like the effort
Practicing your "draw-drill" staccato fashion will solve a ton of issues ... something along the lines of "Index (gripping the pistol), Clear (straight-up pulling the pistol clear of holster), Rock and Lock (leveling the pistol horizontally) , Merge (bringing support hand together with firearm-grip-hand), Up-Strong (pointing the pistol downrange towards the target and aligning the sights with your view) ... after firing ... Retract the Support Hand, Re-holster Smartly, Push/Pull/Sweep (push: to engage holster retention, pull: to confirm retention, sweep back between holster and body: to get any clothing ie. T-shirt out of the holster)."
Cool.
Thanks Dorr. Could we get some dry fire drills from you?
The bell noises do the bullets ricochet when that happens? Whats a brand or item to use similar?
Wish I had such an understanding range where I could practice holster draw and double taps
find yourself some BLM land where you can set up your own targets and have fun. You'll be your own rangemaster and have a trauma kit, communications, etc - just in case.
Awesome video Mr Dorr. I'm not trying to be funny, or second guessing you, but when racking the slide on the Sig why rotate it to the port? Just wondering what your reasoning is. I had a Sig 226 and 229 as duty weapons while serving 26 yrs in LE. Trained a lot with them.
Economy of motion Josh. The gun works for me.
How do you get this metals targets
what's going on during reholster? looks sketchy, lots of mashing and stabbing with the gun. especially 5:30 where it's not even seated in the holster and the video clip ends.
I have to add that if he's having that much trouble getting the gun seated in the holster, call a time out to see why. Too many people have shot the side of their leg after getting clothing caught in the trigger guard and trying to force the gun down into the holster.
Why don't you use the thumb release after the reload?
Gloves
Same thing with a rifle the tack rack ?
Yes same.
I read an article with US combat surgeon, served in Afghanistan. He says, that he saw many injuries - shot in lungs, neck or even head and they survived. But once you are hit in stomach, there is a very little chance to survive.
My question is: why is standard plate carrier so much high positioned - not covering anything from the lower part of your torso.
If you are shot center mass it's a 100% bad day. So this is really just taking away their number 1 target.
P226?
Keep that shirt out of your holster and tighten that belt. :)
Good exercises, thanks.
Love the content, only thing that weirds me out is that T-shirt hanging so close to the holster…but it’s obviously not an issue bc he has remarkable finger/trigger discipline. For those not as disciplined, it would be wise to tuck the shirt, just my thoughts. Great video, great training…I’m gonna do these drills tomorrow, HOOYAH AMERICA!!!
Same, love the content but this just feels like sloppy gun handling to me.
Watch again. I am pretty sure i saw flinching on those dummy rounds
Get that shirt out of the holster my brother!
I'm way too distracted by that damn shirt right next to the holster and possibly intruding into the trigger guard at times.
this was very hard to watch
1:57 what the fuck did he even say there? honestly
No Spam? #ungovernable
Something about this just feels off. Like the guy lied on his resume.
Should probably tuck your shirt in. And look at your holster when reholstering. Needlessly unsafe actions
Thank you
