Your daddy can do anything! My daddy was just like this. Once in college about 2 hours drive from home, my pipes froze under mobile home at a farm I lived on. Daddy drove up there, crawled under the trailer at night, used some kind of hot heat dryer & unfroze my pipes! He stayed overnight & in morning he wrapped my pipes in heat tape! He was an electrical engineer but truly loved fixing virtually everything! Daddy was born in 1930. Lost my daddy 5 years ago this August he was 88 years old. Father’s Day is Sunday, so I still celebrate my daddy’s life and adventures! Blessings 🌼

Anyways my last square body truck I had was actually a well used beat up farm truck a midnight blue and frost gloss white two tone the white is in the center of the blue paint scheme of the truck, and it was a 86 Chevy k20 custom deluxe that had 291k miles it's 4th motor and the factory transmission th400 I had rebuilt by a transmission shop..it was also a very loud truck I built a 75 Chevy truck 4 bolt main 0.30 350 SBC and had the rotating assembly balanced in the bottom end,it had trw hypereutectic 4 valve relief pistons Lt4 style powdered metal connecting rods, and a competition cams Xtreme energy 268h 221/224 duration at 0.50 lift 447/480 lift cam kit and the summit racing brand gear drive timing set machined for more noise I didn't buy that one I had it given to me because they thought it was annoying lol and I had what I referred to as redneck dual exhaust, exhaust manifolds and engine downpipes from a 81 Chevy c20 350 4spd truck we had to two sections of pipe one Bent into a u shape and the driver side was a s shaped piece of exhaust pipe and that is because the tailpipes I used were a 1993 GMC Sierra slx factory single exhaust with the 2 inch dual outlet tailpipes so it was lopey idle and cackling loud!! And I ended up trading it for a early 94 Chevy Silverado extended cab short bed Z71 tbi truck with a 0.40 350sbc and the previous owner put a exhaust kit on it but bought the wrong one so he welded the exhaust kit in place of the downpipes and the factory cat, the exhaust kit is a heartthrob glasspack muffler kit 2.25 inch exhaust to the heartthrob brand glasspack mufflers and straight out the back under the rear bumper into the 18 inch long 2.25 inlet 3 1/2 inch outlet slant cut stainless steel exhaust tips so it is actually about as loud as my 86 Chevy k20 custom deluxe was.

That's awesome Katie...!! Katie, I was the same way when I was younger. I wanted a 1969 short bed Chevrolet truck. My dad was a mechanic and I told him that's what I wanted when I started driving, but my dad died when I was growing up, so I never got the truck. You and Corrie are blessed to have such a wonderful dad. 🥰🥰❤👍😉

Sweet truck! They don't make 'em like they used to. My grandfather on my dad's side had a 5th generation Ford F-100. Maybe 1970. t was two-tone, like a sky blue and white. It had the air conditioner below the dashboard, right above the tranny hump. I loved that truck and still wish I had it to this day. He took me into town in it. Just him and me. Lots of fond memories.

The saddle tan color of the new dashboard is a vast improvement over the one that was removed, and as you said, Katie, it looks good with the rest of the colors inside the cab -- and the exterior color of the truck as well. The new dash install is a perfect example of two of Murphy's Laws -- perhaps the two most commonly encountered ones: 1) "Nothing is as easy as it looks." 2) "Everything takes longer than you think it will." Your truck's interior looks sooooo much better, and you owe your dad a HUGE favor.

Katie,I had a 1987 Chevy 3/4 ton Custom Deluxe, 350,4x4 with a 3.73 rear end with a Manuel transmission. This was the best truck I've ever owned. In my opinion this was the last year Chevy made a true truck. I pulled a 4 horse goose neck all over Montana with that truck. Had close to 200,000 on it when it started loosing compression. Only complaint, Chevy paint and clear coat were terrible back then. You made a good chose. My truck was $13,000 new. It's still on the road. My friend got the truck and did a complete cab and bed of restoration. Good luck on your project.

Thanks for posting this, Katie. I have been interested to see how the job went since watching your Mom's video made the same day. Great job, Matt, and the end result looks terrific. The way Katie has held onto the Toyota, I can hardly imagine her getting rid of this truck, so maybe no one will ever see the signed bezel. One nice thing about this day and age: if you happen to get screws mixed up during reassembly, you can just watch your own youtube video to see where everything came from.
