@@julikidman6954 The reveiwer here is only showing you the bland beginning of the game. Later in the levels, you go into some wierd Alien worlds and each enemie becomes unique.

I know it's pretty damn late now, but I still want to put my two-cents in.
I have currently played through Remnant once, and have rerolled to play again. It is entirely possible to play solo if you so choose (like I did). I found the Really Good Boy mod lifesaving for a solo player. I really enjoy it, and as a completionist I plan on rerolling the campaign a lot. Have fun, and go at your own pace.

I know it wasn't for you, but the lore is definitely my favorite thing about this game. Finding bits and pieces and putting them together or reading diary entries about some badass monster before finally encountering it is great. I honestly wasn't expecting much from this game and it delivered in that aspect.
I also like that progression doesn't carry over. Not sure if you're aware of this, but defeating bosses in different ways gives different loot, which can give you different weapon or mod rewards or even lead to hidden boss fights. You'd miss out on a ton of content if everything carried over from you playing in someone else's campaign.
I don't even play shooters typically and this is the most fun I've had with a game in awhile.
I wish nightmare mode felt more rewarding...like a gun from a Boss has a different design that shows u did it on a harder difficulty

I honestly kinda regretted buying it after giving in to an impulse buy, but man. My mind changed a lot. I’d say this game is truly best experienced in coop. And it’s a great experience. I couldn’t stop playing!!

Have you tried Immortal: Unchained? But this one's better tenfold! It's about time there exist a proper Souls-shooter game. I would like a lock-on feature because there's a lot of times I need to reposition the camera after dodging. I love that now enemies can be hit and take damage from their colleagues like an AOE meant for me, their riotous adversary, also affects those nearby!
Why does everyone seem to forget Bloodbourne?? This is way more BB in my opinion. No shields & way more aggressive. Plus steampunk is closer to the Victorian Era than any Souls game,which is the feel this gives,which is Bloodbourne.

I'm not sure if it'll be your cup of tea, but my brother and I were half expecting a "gaming at 3 am" kind of play session when we booted up, it was a very pleasant surprise when it wasn't.

Well I mean it's a third person shooter, but I'd say the combat mods and number of weapons available make it worth it IMO
The thing that I like most about this game is that the enemy types really feel unique from place to place. In other shooters like destiny all the adds always felt the same. But in this game I always felt like new areas had to be dealt with differently, to best get through them. In the first world I felt like being out in the open wasn't such a bad thing and would let me see and adjust to each enemy. But in the second area I had to use cover a lot more and be more aware of my surroundings. Nothing changed but the enemies attacking differently and that forced me to play differently to accommodate the new enemy mechanics:)
A souls-like with an emphasis on speedy ranged combat and co-op through the whole game? I’m very interested now.

I feel like the other thing about it is exactly what you mentioned with the souls series, a lot of the narrative is actually done through writing that you find in game. Looking around and finding journalist and the notes and little knickknacks with descriptions really help flush out the lore of the world and why things are the way they are. It’s pretty great if that’s what you’re interested in delving into
Kind of specific but, I personally haven't seen such good reload animations since RE4
The Hit satisfaction of this game is also similar to RE4...The enemies are not bullet sponges and react to being hit by flinching and staggering and falling.. That is why it also has a great replay value same as RE4... Even if the story is bland... The gameplay more than makes up for it...
Game is great! Having a ton of fun both solo and co-op. Thought I'd hate progress not carrying over, but it's actually brilliant! You and your friends can jump in and out of each other's games, get different loot and different bosses without having to reroll. I do have some complaints about how matchmaking works, friend invites, etc. Overall, solid game, though.

I know this is late, but I’m just gonna give an example how good the starting weapons can be when upgraded with certain mods:
When ever I had a tough boss fight, and since I don’t have friends to play with, I would always go to the same guns:
Repeater shotgun for ex cultist with fire bullets(or any other health draining status effect)and basic pistol with a summoning mod. It works damn near every time

These arent like darksouls bosses, theyre meant to be taken on by teams whereas darksouls bosses are best solo. He didnt really say much about this but this game didnt do bosses very well
For those that have an oculus, Chronos is a prequel. In Chonos, you age 1 year every time you die. Slowly drifting you away from melee and pushing you into arcane.
Very good game if you forget the fact that the ennemies level scale with your gear wich make it pointless to upgrade your guns and armor most of the time.
The story gets deeper if you read things scattered about. I think everything in the ward is useful information. If you take it slow the game even shows you and tells you what to expect in some cryptic way.

I don't know when it was added or if it was a vonsole general thing, but nowadays on the ps4 at least there is a ingame voice chat which really helps playing and also helps telling people to not do certain things.
And of course it helps to meet new people ^^

I just bought on steam as I was after a something 3rd person single player and the environments & look grabbed me, surprised you didn't mention the aesthetics
That and the variants of enemies means that the same enemy may not have the same special abilities or moves, one boss i fought had grunts with him and in my friends world, he encountered the boss in a different spot and the boss had grunts and also spawned spore mines on top of you.
Gun souls. Even though I die a lot, I still find it fun to run back in and try to get further. Really like the art style too. Def going to buy it once my game pass runs out
i like how with each boss, each class has either no counter or counters the boss very well.

I love that in this game you can progress through multiple campaigns not including your own, so that when you do your own you'll be more than equipped to deal with it thanks to all you've collected. That's something Dark Souls was lacking for me, helping others really didn't feel beneficial to me at all except in terms of Souls which kinda became pointless because of how minuet the leveling system seemed to be. That and the scaling meant even if you were OP the game would tone you down a bit to make things 'fair'.
I think I disagree with your opinion on the narrative. It's not a campaign like a call of duty game, but the story also isn't hidden behind layers and layers of environment like Dark Souls. it's this effective middle ground where it doesn't force feed it to you, but it doesn't hide it from you either. There are a few cutscenes and dialogue choices that allude to what's going on, and that's enough to give you a general idea, but there's also notes and journals lying around in some of the maps that flesh out the world and how the Root came to be. It's done quite well, in my opinion, though I can understand that it's not everyone's favorite thing to hunt for the notebooks.

They're adding free and paid expansions. They said they were in for "the long haul" with this title. Hopefully, it expands into something huge like Warframe did. Less grindy though.

@@guy3nder529 Well I didn't mean it literally to copy Warframe. I have trouble starting Warframe up too these days. The main reasons is it's always another rep grind and now nightwave. I don't think Remnant will turn into that. I just hope it has a long run. Remnant is a good game and I'm having genuine fun playing it. Who knows what the future will bring!

Remnant has become one of the best games I’ve ever played, with incredible replayability with alteres item spawns and just an incredible amount of secrets. Hell, I talked to an npc and listened to his stories a good amount, something that a lot of games let you do but it really only added to the lore, but instead this encounter ended with him giving me an amulet because he said that I was close enough to true family. Great game, interesting characters, fun fights. 10/10
yeah and the enemy boss calles brutes can call a smaller enemy that can explode and die instlany and i played it on normal difficulty
The mobs looks like it's created to be very easy.
There is no swarming or feeling being in danger. It's you shot stationary mob in a room, clear and repeat for the next room like a serial killer lol.

You know, i heard that the best kind of games are the one’s that don’t force themselves to stand out. There’s all these games that try to advertise as much as possible, saying they’re the absolute game of the year, and that you should get it immediately, then once you get it, it’s the most mediocure thing you’ve played. And there’s been a bunch of games from last year alone that fit that bill.
Now, it’s games like this that put their money into itself rather than into all that overly glossy, beating around the bush, adverts.
Games like this focus on what counts, rather than what gets them the most attention.
I’d say that the best way for a game to get attention is to have it’s player advertise for them.
Tell your friends about it, go on social medias to inform others, hell, even youtubers are doing a better job at getting the word out than a half minute advert will do, and it’s more cost efficient. Why pay for an over dramacized ad that’ll gloss over and glaring negatives, when you’ve got other people to explain the good and bad and if it’s worth it. Plus, if there is something bad, the developers can just listen to the feedback and make some adjustments.

It is way more like a diablo style arpg then it is a souls game. I dont know why people act like souls started the checkpoints with everyone now comparing every checkpoint to a bonfire... it you had lost your exp when you die then yes compare it to souls. That is the one thing they did new. But as is this game is way more diablo then souls.
@@Speedether Diablo 2 and Neverwinter Nights also had XP drain when you die. At least I think D2 did, if you played on a higher difficulty. It would cull some of your XP as well as toss all your shit on the ground, so if you didnt go get it before quitting the game it was gone forever.

@@Anedime maybe for you but for me the map did change considerably. With my second character I found the entrance of an area in the first map that I didn't find until the third one with my first character
I doubt it. Speedrunning in Cadence of Hyrule is encouraged by the game itself.

I really don't like how everyone drops the term "Looter Shooter" on this game, when this is almost the exact opposite. From the ways you obtain a limited amount of unique Weapons and upgrade them it's legit rather Dark Souls oriented

Seriously every time I see or hear that term thrown out for this game I can't help but say; it's not a looter shooter. Looter shooter basically boils down to a shooting game with diablo's loot style, this doesn't have that.

Yea,no shit right. I think that would suck & ruin this game. Its cooler finding something well hidden & making what you have better vs finding hundreds of weapons and armour thrown around everywhere. I found an armour set after finding an area,having to look for A key card,look for A key,then opening A door & breaking A shelf & crawling through A hole into A secret room with A diary. That was awesome. Finding it in A chest on A street..Meh.
And the story is great so far,I dont know what hes talking about.

It really does feel hard solo. I had tried to solo the first world The Founders one, as an Ex-Cultist and it was pretty hard. I couldn’t solo the boss at the end of the dungeon so I got some friends. Even then it still takes us a couple of tried to take down bosses.

@@gravedigger4583 If you get constantly disconnected i found a workaround . Set your graphics lower , that way me and my friend could play for hours without any sort of issue . The most important setting to turn down is post-processing , it eats your frames
I haven’t tried multiplayer yet. In fact I’m like 2 1/2 hours in and still on the first mission. Yes I suck.

It is worth it
I loved dark souls,nioh, bloodborne, pretty much anything that is challenging. Came home to find my wife bought remant to play with me.
I am enjoying this game, my only criticism is , like you said progression seems slow. It would be nice to be able to get other drops. That aside it's pretty good. I'm on ps4, and I get crashes once and while, but again it's a decent game for $40.

This game was sitting in my library for like a year start it playing it today and I'm hock now good game
This BYB repeatedly mentions "looter shooter" Remnant is NOT a looter shooter, it is a build based RPG. It is more like Soulsbourne than Borderlands or Destiny. Enemies do not drop "loot"(gear) they drop ammo and consumables. Bosses drop crafting materials to create new weapons and mods.
Just wanted to clarify.
