I used this video as a reference when I did the brakes on my LS460 yesterday. It was very helpful, particularly the part where you show how to put the clips back on. A tip I have to share is use a 5 gallon bucket upside down as place to put the caliper while your putting the rotor back on. It is the perfect height. Another tip is to turn the front wheels out so you can get easy access to the caliper bolts. Thanks!
Thank you for your help. Good news...the car started after pumping the brakes. Now the "brake pads wear" See dealer" light is on. All in all your video was/is very helpful. Thank you for it. It saved us a significant amount of money. We look forward to your future videos.
Great video sir, I also do RUclips videos on cars and beside myself this is one of the best videos I've ever seen. Thank you so much for this video. Truly a blueprint 💪
I'm pulling my wheel tomorrow night to see if the rotors have enough life left to make it worth turning them. Thank YOU! Any recommendations on brand of new brake pads? Powerstop, Bosch, Centric???
Hey i hope u see this... i just replaced a wheel hub, had to take the caliper off when i went to put back i had to push back the pistons so i can get the caliper on the rodor.. now my brake failure light abs light is on and the brake is stiff do you think i need to bleed the brakes?? Thanks for the video
Will you run a chance of rolling the O rings in the brake actuator by not opening the bleeder valve? This part installed at the dealership is 4k. I don't want to roll the O rings by forcing fluid up the line. I was told to open the bleeder so this doesn't happen by a Lexus master tech who happens to be my Father😂
Yep 650$ .. no way I’m paying that... I think Firestone or ntb ( national tire and battery ) is a little cheaper. Gonna get my lazy butt up find my micrometer and get busy .. thank you for your great video .. and thank you for the link to the video on the rears ... has an 06 Honda oddessy van the rear brakes needed a speacial key/tool
Hi thanks for the video, my question is, my brake pad sensor light came on, on my ls460 is it necessary to replace the sensor as well as the pads, or will the light go off once it senses the pads are new? Thanks
Heath Casto hello bro .. i'm majid from saudi - actually same thing happen with me with same vehicle - i buy new brake pads - then i went to the work shop - that time i thought it's just a warning - and after i replace the pads . it will go by it self - i have ls 460 2010 - but after we replaced - the light sensor still there - and they told me that i have to biy new sensors .. each side .. which is so bad .. because it's expensive - and you have to do this per replacing .. that is really not good .. but i solve that .. i asked the engineer to cut the cable .. and put them together .. that way .. the light will stop .. & it will not show anymore .. even with the end of the brake pad next replacing. . hope if that help you dear ..
Thx for the video My drum wheels/rotors surface are not smooth. They have like a little "cavity". Do I need to replace them? or just resurface them? and is it a big issue?
Hi. Thank you for writing to me. You can measure them or have them measured and if they are thick enough you my turn them. I would price new rotors or drums. And sometimes they're not that expensive. Hope this helps thanks again for watching.
Great video, can you tell me if the process would be the same for a 2012 LS460L ? or have they changed the design? On a competely unrelated issue, I"ve replaced the Cabin Air Filter, how do I cancel the dash waqrning message that still comes on, Thanks
@@johnrga you were right. FYI you have to press and hold the "OFF" button on the Climate control buttons under the screen and select delete warning from the menu that pops up.
You never need to replace unless your brakes wear to the point to activate it or it becomes defective or damaged in some way. If your brake wear light comes on it needs to be replaced.
Brian, I thought my battery had died because we left it on and the battery is the original one (10 years old). So I purchased a new one and installed it. The engine still didn't turn on. There is juice because all the "warning" light turns on. Do you think this has to do with anything we did while changing the brake pads?
Bloodshot inside the steering wheel is a part called a clockspring pring. It is very common for it to break and cause horn problems and Airbag problems. I don't have any videos on Clocksprings yet but when one comes in I'll definitely film it.
Kevin Edwards they are similar. Here is a link to a video for rear brakes on a ES350 that should be the same set up as years. How to Replace the Rear Brake Pads and Turn Rotors On a 2008 Lexus ES350ruclips.net/video/jcou2Tq6Idk/видео.html
I have quite a few videos on Lexus repairs including spark plugs. You can go to my website www.howtoautomotive.com and go to the video page. There is a search bar at the top of the page and you can enter your job description. It may not be the exact year and model of your car but Lexus tends to use the same engines for year, so processes will be the same with a few minor differences. Hope this helps and thank you again for your time.
My brake pad wear light came on after installing new oem brake pads on all 4 corners and turning the 4 rottors. The sensors are all good since the old pads still had alot of life left and are installed corrrctly.the message only comes up after 20 mins of driving.
You have the basic of a good video but you are moving too much and one can't see the complete process. In addition, you don't complete you thought or sentences to understand exactly what you are doing. If you revise with more detail and have someone else hold the camera for you, would be helpful.
Roy M. Perez thank you for the constructive criticism. This is One of my first videos. I have over 500 now and I'd like to think there getting better all the time. Thank you for watching and the tips.
Lousy camera work. But I guess you know that. LOL Stock rotors aren't worth turning. They are notorious for warping. Get some from Centric or another aftermarket company. They don't cost that much and save a lot of time and headache.

How did you get rid of the light???
Hello. How did you get the “ brake light wear” light to go out? Thanks for your time
Great video! I did my own lexus brakes because of you! You saved me a lot of money!
Just put my rims back on. This video was great! thank you!

Thank you for the video. Procedures worked for my 2011 LS 460 - you saved me a lot of headaches!!!

Yep, that's how it is done. Used this video to do the brakes on my 2008 Lexus LS600hL . Thank you so much for a well documented video!

Thank you for watching. What job are you waiting for?
Oil change , please :)

Thank you for your very helpful video. At 2:45, you say "remove a little brake fluid". How do you do that ?
Kévin Leroy you can use one of those turkey baster‘s or one of those bulbs that suck the snot out of kids nose.
@@HowtoAutomotive thank you for your answer
Kévin Leroy thank you for watching!
Nicely done! Thanks very much
So how did you manage to initially get the pry bars between the pads when clearance between the pad face and the rotor is 0???
I seem to have a missing "anti rattle clip" on the front left brakes. Am I able to simply replace the clip without removing the caliper?
Really nice video there on how to remove the all the clips. Do I have to disconnect the battery for this task? Thanks in advance, Albert
airboatsled no need to disconnect the battery. Thank you for watching!

Kevin Edwards I don’t know what the dealer would charge but I’m guessing five to $600.

Roy M. Perez did you possibly leave the key on when you were working on it and the battery is dead?

After changing my brakes my brake pad wear warning light came on. How do I reset it
How did you end up reseting your light
I bought a new brake sensor
Nice video , do i need any break system program after replaced the beaks pad to avoid any ABS failure ?
K.M.A no no programming needed. This video step-by-step.
Thx for the video

well done
thanks indeed
Are the brakes the same for a 2015 ls460?
I’m not sure if the parts are the same but the process is very similar
Awesome. Thank you...
Hi I got massage check break system and abs how I can remove it ??

Chris Anderson I think you have to go into the menu on your navigation system.
@@johnrga you were right. FYI you have to press and hold the "OFF" button on the Climate control buttons under the screen and select delete warning from the menu that pops up.
If light is on un plug module for abs for couple minutes than plug back up
When do the brakes do you have to replace brake wear sensor or can you reuse it.
You never need to replace unless your brakes wear to the point to activate it or it becomes defective or damaged in some way. If your brake wear light comes on it needs to be replaced.

Roy M. Perez doing Brake would have nothing to do. Possibly an aftermarket alarm on the car that won't allow it to start.
Roy M. Perez I would also start with a scan tool and plug it in and see if there's any codes
i have a ls460 2008 sometimes the horn work sometime it doesn't can you please help.
Bloodshot inside the steering wheel is a part called a clockspring pring. It is very common for it to break and cause horn problems and Airbag problems. I don't have any videos on Clocksprings yet but when one comes in I'll definitely film it.
Better pull those rotors and finish that non directional finish.
Can you get someone to hold the camera for you?
