I'm really excited about my Silver Sneakers benefits but I'm also intimidated. I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia so my range of motion is very limited and my pain is high. I don't even know where to start. I haven't been able to squat or crouch for years so even some of these exercises seem out of reach for me. I'm afraid of injuring myself too. I know getting stronger would improve my symptoms but getting there is the issue. I have all these goals and dreams of being able to lift weights, or use gym equipment, or go for a run but that'll never happen. I literally have dreams sometimes that I'm running and I wake up extremely disappointed when reality hits lol I can't even walk for very long. Just a trip to the grocery store makes me feel like I was hit by a truck. If you could demonstrate some exercises I might be able to do in my condition I'd appreciate that!
Hi Cyndie, it’s normal to feel intimidated with working out, especially when you are starting. I would suggest seated, gentle exercises. Start small and increase as you feel comfortable. Allow yourself to stop if you need to. Be kind to yourself. I wish you didn’t have to experience chronic pain, sounds horrible. I do know that movement is medicine and you will only get stronger. You can do it!
This was great! I’d love to see more stability ball workouts.
I personally like the leg work at the wall with the ball back there. It helps with alignment so much.
