Just barely getting back into this game after playing it for scarcely an hour 5ish years ago. This vid was super helpful and easy to understand, excellent job, deeply appreciated!
One important note: in some situations, the insulation value of armor tends to be more important than the actual armor value in certain situations, this is pretty obvious for armors like fur that are used specifically for the insulation, but it's important to remember what armors are best and worst for the specific climate you're in. Higher value armors tend to make you warmer, which can get worse at higher qualities, so while hide and chitin give you decent armor for exploring dangerous areas, if you live in a warm climate like the jungle your armor can straight up kill you on warm days, so if you're in a more extreme climate it's sometimes best to wear weaker armor like cloth unless you're expecting trouble. Also, in PVE the durability of structures is much less important, stone is essentially the ultimate defensive structure against dinos, only alphas and a small handful of creatures can damage stone, so unless you're living in a dangerous area you are essentially free to build whatever you want
Wow! I've been watching beginner videos because I think I want to start playing this game. I actually started a note on the notes app for all the questions I still have after each one. It's amazing how many "beginner" videos assume you know so much about the game including which keys help you access your inventory or crafting menus, etc. One person even said something was a 'passive tame' but didn't explain what that meant. lol I'm a teacher, so I was thinking I might have to make my own true beginner vid, but then I found YOURS! Because of this pandemic, I've already made tons of video lessons, so I wasn't looking forward to making another. Thank you for all of this helpful information in such an easily accessible format that's even time stamped into sections! Nicely done! 🌟You get a gold star AND a scented sticker! 😜

as someone who's experienced in ark but hasn't played it in a looong time it's unreal how helpful this was in getting back into things. I didn't even know you could hold H to see things about your buffs and environments so the more you know-! 🦕
Yeah it's crazy how many little systems and features are in ARK. I've played for a very long time and still discover new things about the game that I never knew about.
A tip I'd personally add is you can put blueprints in your hotbar so while collecting resources you can see if you gathered enough to create it. Helped me a lot cause I'm so scatterbrained

@@BunnehGaming it wasn’t for nothing i’ll tell you that!! all your time and effort was very clear throughout the video (: One last question: my dinos always “fall behind” and it’s really annoying cause i walk barley any distance and it happens. Is this a way i can i fix that? Also how can i make them stand still? You also said pickaxe is better for meat while hatchet is better for hide, which tool do you use to kill dinos and or collect their resources 😊
@@subhub637 If you walk up to your creature and press and hold the 'E' key on PC, you can access their Radial Wheel Menu. Inside here you'll see the option 'Behaviors'; under this subsection you'll see the option to change their Follow Distance. By default it's typically 'Medium', so setting this to Low will make them follow you faster and closer. If you look at the creature and press 'Y' on PC it will whistle it to stop following you ('T' whistles it to follow you). As for killing creatures, you'll end up using a Pike, Crossbow or a tamed creature; the tool or creature you choose to harvest it with depends on the type of resource you're trying to acquire.
Excellently done video, very high quality. I would like to note at this point that my survival skill - as in pissing in a wine bottle - has failed. New cushions to sit on.

Awesome video! I just started the game yesterday and this has helped me a ton! Do you have a video on how to use the controls for console? I can’t for the life of me figure out how to whistle my dinos 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for the nice comment and I'm glad it helped you out! Unfortunately I don't have a video on controls for console, but the wiki page is super helpful with all of that stuff. ark.gamepedia.com/ARK_Survival_Evolved_Wiki
To whistle dinos you just have to hold circle on your controller. On the top half there'll be an option to wither whistle 1 or whistle all. if it doesn't work, hold triangle on the dinos and go to behaviour. Make sure that the follow order is set to "following".
I am new to building and am having trouble placing a door in the door frame. It says (it dose not have a clipping point), if I can remember the exact words. Now I do have a base floor on both sides of the doorway. But that should not make a difference. I do see building with decks outside doors. I have put the doors in a hot bar key and have tried face every which way at the door frame. But I am missing something or it would work. I have three doors and they all have the same problem. I have replaced the thatch for wood and it still won't work. Thanks for the videos. They are done well and give great inspiration.
Hi there! Thanks for the comment :) As for your issue, you may have made a double-door frame and are trying to use a single-door, or conversely you're trying to place a double-door within a single-doorframe. Try reading the tooltips of the items to see what the description says about it.
I'm glad the guide has been helpful! ARK can be VERY frustrating sometimes. There are a lot of factors in the game that really aim to mess up a player's day. It's best to take breaks often and give yourself time to decompress if you're getting too upset with it haha
A dedicated server is a separate application that has to run on your PC, but allows for a smoother connection and more people to connect. A non-dedicated server is also hosted on your system but not as a separate application; it typically doesn't have as good of a connection and is more for LAN or smaller groups of players. Single player is exactly how it sounds: it's a solo world that doesn't allow anyone else to connect and some of settings will slightly change compared to server settings.
In the pass I used to watch a lot of Ark content but last year when I tried the game I find it pretty confusing, especially playing on a controller. I'd like to enjoy more this game and these tips will definitely help! Also, is there are a way to make this game even more sandbox? I just want a single player environment and survival game
The game is already pretty open on it's, own so I'm sure what you mean by "even more sandbox." If you're thinking like Minecraft type of procedural, infinite generation, then no that's not what ARK can offer.

Yes there is actually quite a fantastic storyline behind ARK! My buddy James from Complete Games does an excellent job of voice-acting all of the Dossiers and Notes throughout the different ARK's that essentially tell the entire story. You should check out his channel: ruclips.net/user/CompleteGamesWithJames
i may just be dumb but i was planning on buying ark off of pc and i played it on xbox once and it was in first person in your video you were in third person is that a certain setting?
ARK can be played in either First Person or Third Person. On PC you just use the scroll wheel to change perspectives. I prefer playing third person most of the time because you can see more of your environment, but I play in First Person when building or aiming weapons.
That means your character has leveled up and you can invest an attribute point in your inventory's UI. This will also reward Engram Points to purchase new engrams.
Yes, you should set the game's resolution to match that of your monitor (mine is 1920 x 1080) and adjust the Resolution Scale to 100%. I believe there is also an option for UI scaling within the in-game settings that may help you out.
Ive literally died like a hundred times, i still cant figure out how not to get murdered by the giant birds almost immediately after spawning. I cant even collect enough resources to make a base before i get murdered again.
lol... I am completely stuck! I've looked everywhere and no one has the info. Once I mess around and accidentally find how to hold a tool... I can't get rid of it. (lolol) It has to be something really simple because I've done it twice by chance. Any ideas anyone? It's not on the "controls menu", the WiKi, or on beginners video's... I've watched them all. Please HELP !
That is very strange... LOL - are you dragging the tool onto your hotbar and pressing the keybinding? Another option might be to right-click the tool in your inventory and click "Equip". Check your keybindings too to see if something got changed around, might even have luck just resetting things to default.
Thank You So Much! The Reset Worked ! I can play now ! You are AWESOME ! BTW: I agree it was strange because I just installed and started to play. I didn't mess with anything. (not even character creation)@@BunnehGaming

I‘ve been playing ark for a few hundred hours over 4 months, I just like to watch videos of games I’m playing. I still don’t know what the red arachnid icon you get at the start of fjördur
That icon just represents that there are Runestones available to collect on the Fjordur map, each one giving an EXP boost. Gathering all of the Runestones is a requirement for unlocking the Mjornir skin.

Another tip is that Gigas are non violent tames
All I can say as a PSn player coming to ark is.....amazing video 👏👏 this is definitely what I needed to see just before I jump on 👌👌
Glad I could help! Thank you for the very nice comment :)
Fieeww sooo much to know and remember, i am new in this and played my first 4hours...died 12times😂
I'm sure my death count was far greater than that so don't get discouraged! haha
@@BunnehGaming oh i am not, cant wait to have a tree house , flying around on my dino🥰
Try reading the tooltips of the items to see what the description says about it.
just bought this game it helps alot! Hope its Fun And i dont Rage Quit XD
I'm glad the guide has been helpful! ARK can be VERY frustrating sometimes. There are a lot of factors in the game that really aim to mess up a player's day. It's best to take breaks often and give yourself time to decompress if you're getting too upset with it haha
Solid vid, thanks pimp!
ive played this game since it came out and i am just now finding out about making food recipes.
Haha, isn't that crazy how something so simple can go unnoticed for so long? I didn't know about them for a long time either so don't feel bad!
When playing solo whats the difference between dedicated, non-dedicated. And single player?
A dedicated server is a separate application that has to run on your PC, but allows for a smoother connection and more people to connect. A non-dedicated server is also hosted on your system but not as a separate application; it typically doesn't have as good of a connection and is more for LAN or smaller groups of players. Single player is exactly how it sounds: it's a solo world that doesn't allow anyone else to connect and some of settings will slightly change compared to server settings.
wll im not a noob in ark but i gotta say thats actually a really good vid
TYVM :)
Bunneh! What's up buddy!!!!
Not much! How are you?
@@BunnehGaming pretty good making a big pot of curry and breeding some tek Rex's for mutations! 😁 up to no good as usual.
very good video thanks!
Thank you for the comment!
damn, this is a really good video. thanks, from a noobie..
I'm glad you enjoyed it and I hope it helped you out! :D
Awesome tutorial thank you!!
Also, does anyone know the name of the song playing at 8:15? Thanks
You're very welcome! And the name of the song is "ES_Faster Car (Acoustic Version)" (Loving Caliber) - Epidemic Sound.
I credit all of the songs/sound effects used in my videos in the description of each video.
@@BunnehGaming Thank you so much!
I'm definitely subbing, your tutorial has already made me a better Ark player! :)
Is there an Xbox one guide like this just wondering great video by the way
No I'm afraid I only play on PC, but a lot of the same information from this guide would transfer over the Xbox version (just different key bindings).
Bruh your commentary is fucking perfect i love it.
Awe thank you so much :)
@@BunnehGaming shit had me rolling good job sir ill be back for sure you got my sub
@@dswagg585x2 Man if this video had you rolling you better buckle up for my other content. I kept the jokes to a minimum in this video. You should check out my Ark Quest series or my other comedy sketches.
@@BunnehGaming im working right now but I intend to watch some more tonight while I play I cannot wait, just want to say also thank you for your time you put into this stuff because it does really make peoples days better.
@@dswagg585x2 That's what it's all about man :) You should join the channel's Discord too, I think you'd have a good time there!
want to ask what button to press turn camera view to back while running to the front ?
It's called Orbital Camera - default "K" on PC, not sure about for consoles but you could check in the game's keybinding section.
I just got this after caving in and getting subnutica which was my first survival game I love it is there a story too ark ?
Yes there is actually quite a fantastic storyline behind ARK! My buddy James from Complete Games does an excellent job of voice-acting all of the Dossiers and Notes throughout the different ARK's that essentially tell the entire story. You should check out his channel: ruclips.net/user/CompleteGamesWithJames
Thanks i just got the game
Absolutely! Be sure to check out my other content for more information/entertainment! :)
i may just be dumb but i was planning on buying ark off of pc and i played it on xbox once and it was in first person in your video you were in third person is that a certain setting?
ARK can be played in either First Person or Third Person. On PC you just use the scroll wheel to change perspectives. I prefer playing third person most of the time because you can see more of your environment, but I play in First Person when building or aiming weapons.
what does the arrow with the plus mean ? it’s next to the stamina lightning bolt and the weight. Mine keeps blinking yellow
That means your character has leveled up and you can invest an attribute point in your inventory's UI. This will also reward Engram Points to purchase new engrams.
Is there a way to resize the resolution since I cannot see my health and etc.
Yes, you should set the game's resolution to match that of your monitor (mine is 1920 x 1080) and adjust the Resolution Scale to 100%. I believe there is also an option for UI scaling within the in-game settings that may help you out.
@@BunnehGaming thanks man it really helped out!
@@bruhmoment7883 No problem! :) Have fun in ARK!
best guide thank you
Glad it helped!
Very good!!!!!!
Thank you! Hopefully it helps you out! :D
Ive literally died like a hundred times, i still cant figure out how not to get murdered by the giant birds almost immediately after spawning. I cant even collect enough resources to make a base before i get murdered again.
ARK is brutal man, we've all been there haha. The best thing you can do is make a bow and try to get shots in while kiting the Argentavis.
Super video! I applauded for $5.00 👏👏
Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate it. It helps me to keep producing content like this :)
@@bigmufu Excellent! I'm glad that fixed work :) Have a great time playing the game and be sure to check out my other videos for tips & tricks or tutorials! *shameless plug
Thank you
You're welcome!
Thanks
No problem!
