I agree! Kim isn’t doing a half bad job! I can tell, at least so far, that a few details have changed in the show! Like Shioban (?) isn’t a movie star, she’s a manager (Kim K is channeling her own mother there 😂) but I wonder if the two ladies we saw following Anna in the last episode are witches and if that will have a tie to season 3 “Coven”?! What if Anna is Madison?! 😂
Spiders meaning in spirituality is rebirth, death, and growth also some type of strength in the face of adversity so it's really on theme after hearing your explanation on the spoilers part 😀.
So I’m watching AHS and we are now at the waiting period for the remaining episodes. So Dex in the show does not believe Anna. He definitely gives the vibes of being involved with this devilish weirdness the show has going on. The coven of witches is definitely heavily present in the shows version. However Siobhan does not seem sick, she just seems evil lol! There’s a lot of similarities but also lots of differences. Nonetheless, I loved your thoughts on the book.
Loved your video! I got the book because of your review. I had wanted to read the book for a while, but when I heard that it wasn't out yet and already had a show in the works, I wasn't sure if it would be good. I heard of this book because I am a fan of AHS, and after finishing it, I understood why they chose to use the book for this season. The book has subjects they have used in past seasons, and after watching the first two episodes, I don't know how I feel about the show. It feels really campy, even more than usual, and I feel they will lean more towards a Rosemary's Baby arc than this book just by the changes they made for the show. I don't believe the show will do this book justice, and I believe they had past cast members who have left, like Sarah Paulson. The show's tone would be closer to the book, and they could have even connected it to previous seasons if they wanted to.
They change a lot of names in the story and add new characters. Cora doesn’t exist unless she is Ivy…I guess? Then Dex has a dead wife but a friend who looks exactly like his ex wife. So, it’s confusing if you have read the book. Dr. Hill is a male in ASH. Siobhan and the British agent are now one person so who knows how that plot will go? Plus, there is no baseball cap or Converse tennis shoes, but dressed up catwalk goths. Guess it’s AHS’ MO. :/
I'd not heard of this book, but I like the sound of it, and I will read it at some point - so I've only watched the spoiler-free part of this video. It looks very interesting, very much my sort of thing. I'm just glad you enjoyed it after spending so much on the audiobook!
I felt the book had a happy ending. The show is probably not. Wait, Meg is Ivy, not Cora. Siobhan is the agent too, so KK gets more screen time. But, I don’t like the melding of those characters together.
Maybe Cora and Meg are melded together as one character to give that actress more time. I am sure they glanced at the novel and thought “spiders are kewl”. I hope it’s a more pro feminine ending.
@wildmarjoramdieselpunk6396 honestly the ending of Cult was very pro feminine so I can forsee that being an option here. AHS has already treaded the "antichrist" storyline before so yeah!
you should watch it and give us your thoughts! I watched the only two episodes of delicate and im enjoying it a lot and it's not too scary, and I hate scary things
@@WhytheBookWinsthere will be more episodes. The first five episodes are just part one of the season. Episode 5 was just the mid season finale. There’s only five for now because of the writers strike.
Thanks for making this! Im on episode 4 of AHS's Delicate season which is all that's currently out, and im excited to see if it plays out similarly to the book! I already think its going to go a different route with more paranormal influences, but I do really really hope they go with an ending that isn't another devil child. They've done it several times now and that quote you mentioned sums up everything I feel about it.
Thank you for this book review! I wanted to read the book, but I didn’t think I’d be able to stomach it, so this really helped! I’m excited to see how AHS adapts it for their new season as well 💙☺️
Oh this is interesting! Even though I listened to the spoilers I’ll probably still read it! Knowing AHS she was will probably birth some type of spider baby demon thing lol, the season has been a slow burn so far and been split into two parts (probably because of the strikes) so I can read the book in between that.
They hire an ad agency for AHS campaigns. They are free to take artistic license. So, they are eye catching. But I get you. I like some of the art but the eyelashes are odd and aren’t part of the show at all.
so the devil part is definitely in the show where Siobhan asked if Anna wanted a baby just as she wanted an Oscar and like you mentioned she said yes without a doubt
My video for episodes 4 and 5 come out today and I talk about that part. Really interesting! I'm fine with them making her career a bigger thing in the movie. But devil stuff was specifically NOT in the book so I don't love that it seems they are going in that direction. I'm hoping they are just trying to mislead us and in the end it will be like the book... but we'll see.
It is frustrating that women are only taken seriously when a man is involved and vouches for them. And it shouldn't be that way at all! Women are human beings too and we should always be believed! So the misogyny themes in these books are sadly spot on.
Honestly the story sounds pretty cool! Though the few episode of the show really bored me, so I think the book might be better for me x'D For AHS, in my opinion, it's lame they do yet -another- coven/witches centered season, if that's the actual way they're going in.
I am a little disappointed they have made at least two female characters male and compacted two female characters into one. I feel they are changing the plot of the book to a knock off Rosemary’s Baby. Or yet another Coven or Apocalypse season. Definitely not dealing with the female experience, like the book. I also think the dolls are used for a different purpose, which upsets me.
So, it's basically a story about a friend, who's secretly a witch, that helps her get a baby and a bad husband who cheats. What a shit story actually lol. GREAT review though! Thank you for that! I tried reading the book, but for some reason it was written in such a weird way that made it hard for me to follow.
I really loved this book and it was quite a page-turner! The ending was unexpected but I did end up appreciating the subtext and message. The show so far is OK but the book is way better. It seems like so far they are making things obvious while in the book everything kept you guessing.
If I remember correctly, Sonia was one of the woman from the vignettes that are mixed in throughout. I'm not 100% sure though. But in the book I don't actually remember what he did for work. I for sure don't recall anything about him working with an artist named Sonia. There was just Talia who he worked with in the book.
Thanks for covering days... When I heard that it was based on a book I had to look up I synopsis because I am in love with spoilers lol. Great job by the way, and I've already watched your other two videos on the topic and it's great. But girl...Woman becomes women when it's plural lol 😂 you had me giggling
Talia is in the show, she works with Dex and was in episode one. I don't remember anyone named Tegan in the show... I have another video that is a book vs show if you want to check that out!
This sounds really bad. I watched the first episode of the show today and the script was really bad, with really clumsy exposition just being dumped all over the place.
Hmm yeah I've been reading people's thoughts and that's been interesting to hear viewers opinions! I haven't watched the guest episode yet but I plan to. I really liked the book though!
I am not really the audience for the book, I think a personal understanding of being a crazy hormonal pregnant woman would help. I think it is good fodder for AHS, lots of twists and turns. Is it a great novel or do I expect it to be the redemption that AHS fans hope it will be for the series? No on both counts. Danielle Vega/Valentine has a following and it will be right up their alley though.
I liked the book. I am lukewarm to where the AHS Delicate season is going. I don’t think the themes or ending will be the same. Plus, they haven’t had any flashbacks to other times or their characters. I think they are there but only for set dressing.
AHS has lost its way as far as writing. It is just a meh in comparison to what it used to be. Plus I will not subject myself to watching Kim K try to act.
Why the heck is American Horror story a HORROR SHOW not debuting IN OCTOBER THE HORROR MONTH? I get Season premeires etc typically start in September (kind of like how the fiscal year is in April because of Japan and I still dont understand it) but with any Tv show esp I feel like u miss the boat if u dont premiere in October when horror fans are looking for movies/tv shows to binge. TBF though most of the good horror movies either come out in October or January surprisingly.
This made me even more excited for the season! Reading this book would probably stress me out, so I'm thankful for your recap!
thanks! once you have watched the show you will have to comment back sharing what it is like!

Spiders meaning in spirituality is rebirth, death, and growth also some type of strength in the face of adversity so it's really on theme after hearing your explanation on the spoilers part 😀.
Oh yeah, that definitely fits!
Is that why Pennywise was a spider?
It represents all those things, except for the girls power support each other
@pyromaniac709 oh that's such a great connection! I don't know if that is the actual reason, but that whole be cool if it was intentional like that.
For those interested, I have videos on how the show compares with the book! I have also since learned how to pronounce "women" correctly lol
