  • Nobody can say no to a Chevrolet Corvette but these 10 cars are struggling to find many takers. Chevrolet Corvette is the pride of America. It is that one supercar that out-and-out proved you don't need deep pockets to own a supercar. The Corvette has always been an underdog as it offered serious performance that put European supercars to shame at a fraction of the cost. They are super affordable and are a popular choice in the used car market if you want something quick and affordable. And to be honest, nobody can say no to a Chevrolet Corvette, right?
However, there have been some rather unremarkable Corvette models over the years which have been confined to the dark corners of the used car space with little takers for them. Here are some such Chevrolet Corvettes that nobody seems to be buying..

I worked for the largest Chevy dealership in the city I'm from years ago & really loved that 88 Anniversary model. White leather steering wheel was freaking cool. After six Vettes and the same great mechanic (Mark@Titus-Will in Olympia, WA) I once asked him what the worst model/years were the worst to work on. He quickly answered with a slight grin, "C4" (kinda like Colonel Kurtz in "Apocalypse Now", "The C4, the C4".......). When asked why, he generally discussed electrical Gremlins and the fact the C4 was such a leap, maybe the biggest between models in Corvette history (even the C7 to C8?) and the electrical problems of the C4, from dash to miles of wires running along the interior made them hellish for a mechanic.

Your absolutely right about that . However, when you make a race car out of them and delete most of those electronics… That C-4 is a hell of a track car . Really the only improvement, other than obviously Horsepower between C-4 and C-5-6-7 . Is the transmission placement and configuration which can be somewhat compensated by using an LS-1 (aluminum) and adding a bit of ballast to the rear of the car . Still ,, unless your C-4 is a donor a man would be better served with a C-6 when it comes to bang for the buck . I’m biased though . They never made a Vette that I didn’t like . I own a 1979 L82. I bought a "used" '81 Vette in 1986. . .Just for fun. I knew it was severely underpowered at just 190 HP (and a ridiculous 85MPH speedometer), but it only had a legit 14,500 miles on it. Dark metallic blue with a silver leather interior, and mirrored T-Tops. Again, not a "performer", but fun to drive as one of the last 4-barrel, 4-speeds ever made. Drove it for almost four years every day. . .THEN. . .In early 1990 it was hit TWICE IN THE SAME MONTH by drunk drivers. Once in the rear-end under an apartment complex carport, and once in the front-end while I was driving to work one sunny day. Insurance wouldn't "total" it and I ended up selling it to a guy who restored Corvettes. Never bought another one, as it seemed like me and Vettes just weren't meant to be. But now, as a retired "older" guy, I'd love to have that car back just for "fun" again!

The “lower” powered engines were really not as far off of the pre 72 or so numbers when you take into account the change in process to measure power. _Not sure where to start, but it's certain this vlogger has never even sat in a Corvette, let alone owned one. But this is RUclips, and comments like mine and videos like this one are part of the fabric of social media(that's meant to be a disclaimer of sorts). Let's get this out of the way: the 1979 Corvette was the highest-selling of any Corvette model ever(and the 1984 Corvette was second). Notwithstanding, the 2023 Corvette sales numbers may surpass both of these models when the final tally is in. And not a single C1 should ever be on this list period(especially a '53)! Now onto anything with the name CALLAWAY attached to the Chevy Corvette(don't even get me started on this one). Yeah, good point about the 1998 Corvette Pace car though(but untrue, as these gems are beyond valuable if mothballed...any Corvette is, even if it's the 35th Anniversary edition for 1988). Yeah, it looks like you and Time magazine share the same source? Good point on the California edition 305 for 1980(one redeeming part of the video), but basically all the 1975 to 1980 Corvettes weren't exactly the best bow-tie sports cars GM was producing. But something of a mystery, the Corvette sales numbers in the last eight model production years of the C3 were pretty damn healthy(even for a detuned, smogger motor, American-made two-seater). ...and I've owned 10 over my lifetime from 1969 to 1996! Loved the comment about C4's here, (358,180 examples of buyers couldn't have been wrong)._

There were no 1983 Corvettes. Chevrolet planned a mid-engined Corvette for 1983 using an extended C3 body and scrapped the project.

There actually was one. I think GM still owns it. I just turned 16 in March 1983 when I saw my first C4. I thought they were 1983 models until months later. I initially thought they were ugly, but they grew on me. At age 29, I bought a new 1995 in March 1996, months before the C5 came out. Still have it. 261,000 miles.

There was no Corvette production in 1983.
The final model year for the C3 was1982.
It seems that a few listed are just your personal preference.
Especially the pace car editions. Those actually always sell very well.
The 1958 corvette was actually quite popular with the new quad headlights and the trunk chrome "spears".
The 1980-82 'Vettes were also great sellers. Again, Gearhead boys generally don't like them but They are becoming popular again because it was a good styling and the blue chip collectibles are way out of most people's league.
Perhaps when it's a personal choice list just put that on the title.
And before you list statistics, Make sure they are factual.
    Good luck next time

Wow lots of distain for old corvettes. Yup styles and times have changed. I was trying to think of any great performance car or truck from 1975 to 1989. Or any manufacturer of cars of those era's that weren't strangled by federal mandates. I will admit that some of those Indy cars were nightmarish at best. But look what you were wearing back then. Look what happened to Mustangs, or road runners. Even XKE's sucked. The list just goes on. Curious, what were you driving back then? And how many white belts and plaid pants did you owned? SMILE it's all GOOD, we won't tell. CHEERS

The C4 almost killed the line, because the ride was so bad when first introduced , nobody wanted such a harsh ride, and prices went to rock bottom trying to sell the things. the ride was softened, but by then, nobody cared much, for a few reasons. .
they are the car body of choice for straight line speed events, because the GM aerodynamic testing could only do straight at the time. the 'C5, with the benefit of more advanced aero testing is smoother through the air overall, because of better aero results in the turns, but was no longer optimized for a straight line.

Talk all the shit you want, but good luck getting ahold of a 1958 - 1962 Corvette in good condition with minimal restoration for less than $200,000. Also, the Pace Car edition Corvettes, as flamboyant as they are, sell for big bucks. They were gaudy to some people, but that gaudy look makes them collectible.
