FYI, Part 2 is now available and it's pretty long:

4:20 Ultimately, nothing gives you the perspective that an FPV drone does--this is what does it for me 😤 I loved this video!

Ohh that dive under the guardrail looks terrifying but so tempting. I vote for revisit with boat and flotation. Thanks for the explanation, I really liked the flow of the reservoir vid and it’s nice to hear what went into it.

🤣 Need to get another Roma F5 and chop a pool noodle before I can try again, hehe. Maybe by the time I get back there the road will have collapsed further and made the gap bigger 😅.
Glad you liked the vid, hope you stick around for the editing part 👍.

This was sick, glad you didn’t lose the drone. Flight planning is crucial! Great flight

Oh man, I just sat at my computer attempting to record the whole editing process for the last 4 hours, and that's without the 3D text part 😅

@@STRIKINGFPV I'm so glad you made the part 2 video! I'm just getting started and editing is so intimidating to me right now 😬

Good job walking us through the planning.
Another consideration is the exit strategy. For example, had you elected to go through the guard rail gap, what would the angle of attack yield once through the gap? Would it break the line of your pre-established flow? If so, what new line would emerge? Does the new line work? If not, is the guard rail maneuver a distraction? In some cases, just because you can doesn’t mean it’s for the better; tempting as it may be. I think acrobatic fpv can preclude cinematic cohesiveness.
In part, I think that because I stink at acrobatic fpv, Still, I don’t see much acrobatics coming from Johnny FPV.
    Cheers.

Liking your style bro ... relaxing and open delivery style - KEEP IT COMING. Such a freshness to the usual fast paced and yelling type vids that litter the net. Im too old for that style .... 😅😅

      I know, raaa 😅?
If you check the original full resolution video you can see it a touch clearer - those dead trees sticking up there are actually easier to see in person when walking around the reservoir, so I already knew the shape not too bad, and previous test flights also got me a closer look in the goggles before doing the finaltake.
That being said, it kinda' highlights the fact that even when you're being careful, things can still sneak up on you, so you can imagine how much higher of a chance you'd have of crashing if you weren't more prepared and aware.

That "Spillway" text looks incredible. The reflection, the shadows, and the motion tracking, they all come together to make it look like a real physical object. How did you make it? Did you watch a specific tutorial somewhere or is that just from cumulative software experience?

    • @STRIKINGFPV
      @STRIKINGFPV  Год назад

You can watch my tutorial on how I did to see exactly where that all came from. It's not a specific tutorial that I followed, though, I actually used to experiment with 3D text in some of my older motorcycle riding videos on my other channel, and this was years ago with a much older version of After Effects.
The way I came up with what I did here is based-off my experience working with image manipulation tools like Photoshop and also knowing how video games "fake" certain effects (I used to do computer programming in another life, so I obsessed over graphics techniques and stuff, lol). I kinda' knew that the minimum would be the text and that'd be enough, but then I added a shadow and kinda' kept going just to see how else I could ground the text.
There are better ways of doing it, but the way I did it worked in a pinch. If you pixel peep you can see things not working, incorrect angles, probably masking errors, but in motion it worked alright 😁.
