I've got 11 years on my original setup. I use the trailer only a few times a year and drive about 1 hour with it from storage to my house. I finally just looked into how the vault system works.
Little high tech for a Jon boat. How about a video with your opinion on different grease for different types of trailers? Red n tacky for boat trailer with seal and cap siliconed? I’m having trouble with marine grease thinning out during hot days on the road. Thanks. Love the knowledge you’re sharing.
@@TheTrailerSmithgot a question for you. I have 6x5.5 on my boat trailer. I had bought one of those trailer buddy trailing arms and the one sent was with a 5 lug hub. Anyways I didn’t check everything out on arrival and I can return it either being in hawaii shipping was almost as much as the part. Any advise or maybe a future video on swapping a 5 lug hub to 6 lug?
Can you do a video of setting the pitch for those removable torsion arms? How you would go about installing them if the factory doesn't set them on the axle if you have to order the the whole assembly?
If you have vault hub system on a bass boat trailer can you replace with bearing buddies and change out the grease I bought a new boat and trailer has the vault system and would like change to the bearing buddy system
Question 🙋🏻 for the Trailer Smith. I have an old basstracker boat trailer. I bought a set of Qind ( Qingda) tires load rating 1,360 lbs in the size, ST 175/80 D13. At the time, I wasn’t thinking about speed rating, but weight rating.I searched the tire over for a speed rating and can’t seem to find one. Before I take off on a 400 mile fishing trip, can you give me some information how fast I can safely travel?
I have a vault system. The right hub will be six years in December since new. The left hub seal was replaced by boat mechanic May 2022 (almost 2 1/2 years). He replaced the grease with Marine grade grease instead of the Hybrid Oil. First question, can you mix marine grade grease with hybrid oil (I say no)? Without removing the seal and taking out the seal and bearings to clean it up and give it fresh hybrid oil, how can I replace the old grease? The Vault cap protrudes about 1/16th of inch currently.
Red & tacky? I've heard it is compatible and in the event you do bust a seal, it will not be catastrophic like with the hybrid grease, as the red and tacky will stay put inside the hub and you can get by.

This channel is gold. I literally was just thinking I need to find out and figure how to service the vaults I have.
Very thorough explanation!

I'd like to see a setup with a double seal on the back. Just design it for 2 of those rear main type seals driven in.
I want to know the brand of trailer tires you use

I guess no one wants to answer or provide comments.
How is the vault cap different than the original Ranger Trail trailer oil bath hub? They have the same spring loaded pressure cap system?
Is the grease similar in compossion to Mobil )007 or a semi fluid nlgi 002
I was told not to reuse the cap. What's the truth? Good video.
When I replaced the wear ring, I had to drill the hole in it.
Can you convert the vault system to regular grease system
Yes you can. Just get the proper size parts. Bearing Buddy conversion is possible. Did it to my 2009 skeeter trailer.
My biggest issue with it is i cant buy the grease or parts locally.
That is an issue. I found it more problematic that my parts supplier was out of stock as well.
My boat dealer is telling me they do not use the hybrid grease when repacking.

Heat gun that pvc fitting and shove it on if you want a slip fit.
Looks a lot like CV joint grease.
