Just compare them with old games like Doom, Half-Life, Battlefield 1942, etc. and see how much darker they've gotten. This is specially true of FPS games. I'm not sure if it's a stylistic choice or what.
As much I love these remakes, I hope we get more levels that either are slightly redesigned for Eternal’s combat (like the one recent E1M1 remake) or levels that come with gameplay mods that make the game feel a bit more classic

The music, the layout, the pistol aimed at the center of the screen -- everything is so nostalgic and strange. As a kid, I didn't know there was a Use (Activate) button in that game for several months (until dad's friend showed me how to press Ctrl, lol) -- so I had no way of exiting the first level. That meant, that I'd replay this very first level over and over again, as the ultimate first-person experience. The memories are flooding..

I really want to port the whole Eviternity but I don't know if people are going to like the maps. I cherry picked the best one's that'll work fine in Eternal, really not sure how to make the rest work. They look dated and too simplistic for Eternal's combat. They are fun to play in Classic Doom because you don't possess the movement mechanics there that DE provides. Eviternity II though. The majority of its maps will work great in Eternal no doubt.
Dude, I love the room that has all those rock textures, look so cool And it looks amaizing, only thing I would change, is to put some mecha zombies or shotgunners, to keep a bit of difficulty, but even so, looks incredible hope next one is GOTCHA
@@HankBoy-pr2sf One of the best parts of the new modding tools is it really gives modders the ability to reimagine/remaster the look of a map in any way they want to with textures and what not. I love seeing the different approaches people take.

My hope is that since id released full mod tools (just short of enough to do something like a complete conversion via source code) we see some gameplay mods for these too It’s entirely possible to do things like increase move speed & disable jumping or dashing. Then you adjust enemy AI so they don’t use lock on attacks that require dashes. It MIGHT be possible to disable Y axis mouse aim & have weapons track, but I think that as flavorful as that is it’d be better to keep mlook normal. However going full no jump and fast movement would be dope

Seeing Doom eternal with slower player movement, and less arena focused level design. Makes realize how much eternal-2016 are built off the Rage 1 mechanically. Doom 2016 even used rage's engine when the premise was still about hell on earth, instead of being a semi remake-sequel.
Nice work! Looking forward to your progress. What about spawing larger number of enemies. Can engine handle at least 50 AI at the same time? You need that to recreate original doom levels. Snap map only had 12 enemies limit.
Someone already recreated part of Karnak yesterday. It's on Youtubs. Serious Sam 4 has a solid level editor that can hopefully export resources. I just looked at some of the levels. They will be an incredible fit for Doom Eternal. I'll try to port Machina Ex Deus.

No there are not many levels complete right now. I've played all of the current custom levels on my channel already. You download all of the levels in the new doom modding portal, I have a guide in my descriptions

I actually have a step by step guide in the description of this video, that might help you. One day I might make a tutorial with screenshots, but as the modding is still in Beta, I'm going to wait until it is out of the beta for that.
@@lavendermintyy the default music is actually the eternal menu theme. I just disabled that and put the classic music on. As for why no remix, no particular reason lol
@@geezusmeatball1328 if you mean the weapon pose, it's just a setting you can enable in the gameplay tab called classic weapon pose. In this video all I used was the pistol restored mod
@@geezusmeatball1328 so for no weapon mods, you can just go into the arsenal tab in game and remove all weapons mods there. For the music, you currently have to play that in the background unless the mapper puts it themselves, this is what I did. For ammo pickups I'm not sure if there is a mod for that. If the mapper puts ammo pickups that's the only way I know of for there to be pickups atm. Lastly, I highly recommend downloading "Classic DOOM Eternal Overhaul by MuricanEagle." @@HubbardiumKingnah. It's always been there and there have been mods to reenable it, it just doesn't have a function with Doom: Eternal that isn't already covered by the other weapons and the game is based on forcing you to swap weapons so an infinite ammo option isn't something they'd want
Looking at some of the UV Max speedruns like Valiant WAD I realized it'll definitely be a lot of fun reworking the weapons to the classic formula as well as some of the buffs classic WAD's do. But unfortunately a lot of Eternal players won't be comfortable with the changes. Gonna have to have them as a separate option/mod I guess...

The city levels were always the worst in doom 2 but now I really want to see them in the eternal engine.

@@geezusmeatball1328 if you mean the weapon pose, it's just a setting you can enable in the gameplay tab called classic weapon pose. In this video all I used was the pistol restored mod

@@geezusmeatball1328 so for no weapon mods, you can just go into the arsenal tab in game and remove all weapons mods there. For the music, you currently have to play that in the background unless the mapper puts it themselves, this is what I did. For ammo pickups I'm not sure if there is a mod for that. If the mapper puts ammo pickups that's the only way I know of for there to be pickups atm. Lastly, I highly recommend downloading "Classic DOOM Eternal Overhaul by MuricanEagle." @@HubbardiumKingnah. It's always been there and there have been mods to reenable it, it just doesn't have a function with Doom: Eternal that isn't already covered by the other weapons and the game is based on forcing you to swap weapons so an infinite ammo option isn't something they'd want

@@Koipit That would be awesome. Goes to show sometimes simpler is much more effective.
Looking at some of the UV Max speedruns like Valiant WAD I realized it'll definitely be a lot of fun reworking the weapons to the classic formula as well as some of the buffs classic WAD's do.
But unfortunately a lot of Eternal players won't be comfortable with the changes.
Gonna have to have them as a separate option/mod I guess...
Any rational person with eyes and an IQ above single digits will prefer the classic guns as long as they are done properly
