This video is about the weapon that did it all! The Gjallarhorn was a weapon that came out all the way back in 2014 and really defined Destiny as a whole as far as exotics go! Nothing was comparable to damage in Destiny 1 year one! It was effective against Atheon, Skolas, Crota, every strike boss in the game, and every group of enemies! The Taken King nerfed our Gjallarhorn and didn't let you infuse it up to max level! Rise of Iron introduced the Iron Gjallarhorn which was good, just not as good. So, should it be in Destiny 2? Let's find out!

I remember getting my first Gjallahorn from VoG, after killing Atheon - I had school the next day. My dad, being a gamer himself (then in his 50s, now in his 60s) knew how much this meant to me and allowed me to stay home from school the next day so I could play with it.
I still have my original Gjallahorn to this day in my D1 Titans' inventory, along with the Iron Gjallahorn.
Hope you both can experience some old memories when December this year comes around!

@@sparkymarky7504 I was one of the unlucky souls to not get it for over a year. My loadout was Fatebringer, Black Hammer/ Icebreaker and an op roled The Swarm/Hunger of crota. Even though I was mostly rejected by most raid/skolas groups cause of my lack of Gjallarhorn, I still managed to do skolas without it and even solo'd Crota as a Hunter main without it. In the end it was skill that matters and thats also the reason why I'm so proud I got my Gjallarhorn a week before Xur sold it a 2nd time from the Osiris Flawless Crate

@@Lancersilva I'm pretty sure It won't be as powerful as Year 1 Gjalli. Maybe similar to Rise of Iron's Gjalli. But we'll have to see D2 is a completely different beast compared to D1. If anything it'll at least be a fun novelty weapon.

@@ZombieSlayerTakashi Keeping my hopes leveled about it. I'm glad it's back, but I know it won't be near the same power as D1. Probably gonna be reduced damage of the Wolfpack rounds or a reduced number of them. Definitely will be agreat novelty though

@@newax_productions2069 "ruined" I think stasis did a lot more damage than gjally imma be real, pvp is basically essential for destiny to even exist so being frozen all the time with NO answers from bungie about them even nerfing stasis at all for months fucked up the game's reputation 10x more than what gjally could EVER do.
I remember the first time I ever got this weapon, it dropped for after a run on Skolas during the House of Wolves era. At the time I didn't even notice that it dropped until my friend said "did you just get a Gjallarhorn?". I opened my character, saw that glowing white square in my heavy, checked it and there it was. I will never forget that moment.
Dude, this video opened a portal back to my high school self, sitting in my bedroom staring up at my destiny poster on the wall, waiting on it to arrive. Unfortunately D2 hasn’t really held my attention since shadowkeep, but destiny will always probably be my favorite game. Thanks for this moment of nostalgia

Dude, you're channel is pure nostalgia gold for guys like me who lived, loved and fought in the olden days of Destiny 1.
I still consider that era from 2014 - 2017 to be the peak gaming years of my life. A full clan, people from all over the world that I talked to every day, not even knowing any gamer who didn't play Destiny.
Sometimes I go back and watch some of the Bungie reveals or old videos from people I used to watch every week back then doing solo Nightfalls and such. You made an old guardian happy. Thanks and keep 'em coming.

I actually got a little emotional when you started talking about Xur and showed off his very first inventory offerings. When Destiny 1 came out, it was such a beautiful and awesome game that had so many problems that would end up being fixed, but my God, are my memories of it absolutely wonderful. The game was so different back then compared to now. No one knew what all of the items were in the game. There was no website you could go to where you could just see what all of the new items were with each content release and how to get them. It was all word of mouth. I still remember going to school and my friend telling me about a new Exotic called the "Vex Mythoclast" that you could get from Hard Mode Vault of Glass. I was so intrigued and I would end up getting it through my very first run through VoG on Hard Mode. In terms of getting the Gjallarhorn, I actually got it through a Legendary Heavy Weapon Engram that I got from a Cabal Phalanx from the Valus Ta'aurc Nightfall with two of my friends. I still remember the sun setting in the Tower on Earth and me opening that Engram. This was back when 9 times out of 10, you would get either a Rare item that you didn't need, or a Legendary armor piece for another character that you had not created yet. I was really happy and excited, but I believe this was around the time when everybody, including myself were only just then waking up to the power of the weapon when it came to burning bosses. However, it still took me forever to fully level up it up to max since it wasn't that easy to do so at that time. My favorite moment with the weapon isn't really one time, but every boss that would end up being burned by me and a full Fireteam of players with it. This is only with this gun as well. I have so many memories that I can recall besides all of the great times I had with this beloved Rocket Launcher. From the Loot Cave, pushing Atheon off of the edge using AoE grenades/Nova Bomb, staying up all night when The Taken King was released, playing it, and realizing how screwed I was since I had school the following day only to do the same thing all night again to get the Outbreak Prime when it was discovered over a year later, and I will forever cherish them.

The best moment with Gjallahorn was being the sword man, saying FIRE and seeing 5 Gjallahorn Rockets firing at the gigantic son of Oryx, hearing the impact and running towards him while he goes down covered in blue wolf rockets...
And then praying he doesn't bug out and takes a sword slam at you because then you see your life flash before your eyes. It was just so damn exciting even if that Raid was meh.
my favorite moment with gjallerhorn was when xur was selling it the second time. shortly after the reset my friends and I were headed to the tower to see what was being sold. I got a message from a random player that must've looked at my inventory and saw that I didn't have gjallerhorn equipped, telling me xur was selling it and telling me to go buy it right now in all caps

I remember I got mine after joining a random LFG team that was doing VOG, and they killed Atheon while I was loading in. My ghost spawned and I got BOTH Ghally and the Vex Mythoclast while I was waiting to be revived.
Then they kicked me, and sent messages saying that I 'stole it' from them XD
When my Gjallarhorn dropped, it was my final strike of the night with my boys at like 3am. And as I fell asleep, my friend started screaming his lungs out, saying I got the Gjally. I loved it, glad it's coming back

I got my Ghorn through VOG on final phase. I heard it was recorded and I felt it because when I woke up I was in the hospital with a ventilator because I apparently started screaming and ended up having an asthma attack. That Ghorn still sits in my vault as a reminder to not lose my shit.

I really appreciate that you're like the historian of Destiny. Not for lore but the gaming experience of Destiny. So glad I found this channel.
I remember when me and my team were running Vault of Glass and me and my friend had never done it before. All day he was bragging about something he found the other day, his "secret weapon" he called it. When we finally got to Atheon, we did pretty good until that last 25% health. Almost all of our team was down and it was just my friend and our Titan pinned down in the titan's bubble. I remember the Titan tried to do something and got killed. It was at this moment he said the lines that I will remember till the end of my days. Atheon shooting down the bubble, vex closing in from all sides, he said "I got this." It was like something from a movie. I saw him open his inventory and switch out his heavy weapon. He ran out of the bubble and pulled out the fabled weapon. At this point, the whole fireteam went silent. Then I hear him shoot it, 1, 2. And then the whole team cheered! Atheon fell with one guardian left and his fabled rocket launcher. We always remembered the Gjallarhorn as HIS weapon. God, the days of D1.

Bought this rocket when it was sold by xur the first time. Left it in the vault and totally forgot I had it. It was not until I got it again during a vog raid that I realized all this time, I had one sitting in the vault.
But my most memorable time I had with this rocket wasn’t from my own. I sherpa a lot of new players through the vog and just hearing their reactions when they got one was priceless. Honestly, since then I don’t think I’ve witness anything more epic in destiny ever again.

I got my Gjallarhorn from my very first Raid, Hard Mode VoG. I didn't know what exotics were back then, my friend invited to join on VoG and once we got to the Gorgon Chest, the fireteam let me open the Chest first. Low and behold I go the f***ing GJALLARHORN!!! My very first exotic, one of the Fireteam members said if I got the Vex Mythoclast, he would help me upgrade it. And he had to jinx it I got my 2nd Exotic the Vex Mythoclast 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I flipped almost threw my controller, my mom asked me what the hell was going on and I said I got the rarest and most powerful weapon in the game... I was legit crying.

I wish I had that luck... played since launch, never got G-Horn, Vex, Black Hammer, anything. I still don’t have them. My luck in D2 has been about the same. It’s really depressing.
This is what destiny 2 missed out on I don't remember any of the exotics I got I remember I got my ghorn during krota hard didn't realize I got it we all did vault of glass got to atheon and I just yelled "when the fuck did I get a ghorn!?!?" My party started dying of laughter good times :')

I got gally from an atheon checkpoint that I stole, and then immediately hopped into an Ir Yut chekpoint to have another chance at some exotics, and got gally again. Two gjallarhorns in 5 minutes.

i got kicked for not having black hammer , but i had a good triple tap sniper to use in its place still had to wait for spindle to try it out then when spindle got nerfed i had the god roll sniper that datto later called impossible to use but that was the sights he said to use (it was one of the tree i had to pick from on it) i used the other one that was more stable and hit some 7s

I was probably more relieved when I got it, but my friends were super excited about it dropping for me.
Bro I remember when I got mine from Crota. Back when the exotics wouldn’t drop for you until you went to orbit/waited for the rewards screen. Everyone in my fireteam was freaking out that I got it and I was just like “what? No stop kidding guys seriously nothing showed up” and then the raid ended and wild screams ensued. Miss those days.
Ghallajhorn was the first exotic I ever got in the first few weeks of d1 so I never really understood the hype of getting it because I had no idea it was good

Destiny 1 had desirable weapons that actually felt rare. Ultimately d2 doesn’t have that feeling.

I had no idea how rare or strong Gjallarhorn was when I got it. It was my first exotic drop in the 3rd week of the game. Had no idea what I had until I tried to do VoG and LFG required it.
I got mine to drop when I was doint the Vault of Glass with my old clan mates and when I killed Atheon I got the Vex Mythoclass so I freaked out and ran around my house while my aunt and uncle came into my room to see if it was true.
When we got to the post game screen, that was it.... Gjallahorn dropped for me. I didn’t even get a chance to sit back down and I just collapsed in the ground. While my aunt and uncle screamed, “I hate you!”

If you had the app then you can switch it from player to player but if you didnt have that app or 2/3 off them as a minimum then you finna get kicked on only ever had 1 got it from crota

I actually knew the ghorn was good during week 2! One of my friends got really lucky in the very first nightfall and got ghorn. I got strange coins both weeks, and picked it up on the second week! I also told all of my friends to pick it up as well because the ghorn did soo much for us in our first VoG run
I know its already back in 30 years of bungie but here would be an epic alternative quest for it: "The shattered horns of gjallerhorn". Basically a quest where you do a boss rush with a bottomless clip, extremely nerfed to deal like 1k damage a shot (but doubles after every boss defeated), gjallerhorn called the "fractured horn" and afterwards you return to xur to give him the fractured horn and see him shed a tear from the memorys and after 2 days he'll return to you with the gjallerhorn-reborn

I really didn't have a reaction to Gjallarhorn. I'm a hoarder. I left it in my vault at the time until a friend told me that a exotic rocket launcher is becoming really popular. I looked in my vault and saw it, I was like "oh you mean this one?"
MrXxBioxX same. I got it from the chest in my very first VoG. I was such a noob and had ZERO clue how good it was until my friends started telling me they were chasing it, and I was like “oh, is that gun good? I have it and never used it” Lmao how foolish I was

It was one of my first exotics, was not even from a raid. I only wanted machine guns, so I wasn't happy. I put it in my vault and then started a VoG raid and they were annoyed I hadn't upgraded it hahahahhaha i had to go get it.

Oh boy, have I got a story for everyone here. You know that beautiful loot cave mentioned in 9:37? Well, we were vibing there before the end of week 2, and I was having trouble getting any of the Legendary engrams to drop. One night, I got particularly lucky and got my very first legendary after my friends all had 4-5 drops. After a little longer, I hopped over to Rahool and gave him my first and only Legendary. Suprise suprise, I found my purple became a shiny shade of gold; the first exotic weapon I ever recieved.
And to answer the question of my reaction, I hadn't the slightest clue what an exotic even was, so we just shrugged it off.

I actually remember that my father bought it when xur sold it. He only bought it because he thought it looked cool. Little did he know he bought the single most powerful weapon in destiny's history... because he "thought it was neat"
That's literally my dad when he plays destiny as well. He doesnt know a thing about good weapon or their perks or subclass abilities or armor perks/stats. He just plays for fun and not for seriousness and usually just puts the "coolest" stuff on.
Haha I bought Gjallarhorn I believe it was Week 2 of Destiny when Xur sold it. I only bought it because it was the first Exotic I could afford and I just wanted to get something cool. Only months later did I realize I had gotten so lucky with my dumb purchase.
i actually bought the gjallahorn because i had scene it in the arms and armaments book that came with my collector's edition of the game. and i thought it was such a beautiful gun, it had a very aesthetically pleasing victorian design look to it. so when xur sold it, i immediately bought it. little did i now that was going to be my ticket to so many raids and end game activities.
I can’t quite recall what I did....but I’m pretty sure it was one of two thing...1: bought it.....2: got it very shortly afterwards cause I had CRAZY luck back in D1 with getting exotics 😫

I remember my first Ghorn, it was the first week of crota’s end release and after failing to complete the new raid, me and my team decided to go do a hard mode Vault of Glass, my Atheon loot that day was the sparrow (or the ship I can’t really remember), the raid helmet (that helmet was a loot exclusive to that hard mode boss), and finally the Ghorn and Vex mythoclass... yea and I didn’t know what the Ghorn was so I was more hyped about the vex
I never was able to get this, I did vog countless times, and watched it drop for so many people, it was depressing 😅 it really sucked because other players would not want to raid with you if you didn't have it.

I didn't get a Gjallahorn until way late in Destiny 1, so I used to run Patience and Time to solo nightfalls, plus Ice Breaker for free ammo, and Vision of Confluence was my baby.

I remember not having enough coins for the red death in week 1 so when week 2 rolled around and I saw it was a rocket was pretty disappointed, bought it anyway not realise what it would become but made the right decision there. Literally Never had one drop so good thing I bought it.

I got Gjallarhorn when I was doing crota raid, I was playing on my Xbox 360 in the living room with my mom in the room, next thing she noticed her teenage son (I'm 24 now) explode in excitement and joy, and I looked over at her she was just smiling that I was happy. She supports everything that was my accomplishments and I love her, so Gjallarhorn has a special place in my heart.

I remember getting it before Xur even sold it in week 2, I literally hadn’t touched it because I used it once and it was just a standard rocket launcher... nobody knew the Wolfpack rounds perk was game breaking and obviously you had to upgrade to get them. I thought it was terrible... then everybody found out how OP it was and the grind began to level the thing. It was weird to know I had the ultimate weapon in the game from like week 1 and never thought to use it for weeks until the community found out about it
and then bungus was like "YO LETS JUST MAKE GJALLARHORN AGAIN LOL" and released Eyes of Tomorrow.
And that's why I am so proud of having got it 1st try.

@@warprox5031 Against bosses only as long as there aren't too many mobs that steal the attention of Deathbringer's orbs and/or objects close to the boss that the orbs might suicide into lol. With the right conditions & good "depth perception" it AFAIK the highest DPS weapon, and IMO it is the highest skill cap weapon as well

My Gjallarhorn dropped from crota. Me and my fireteam then went back into the raid on different characters and I got another 1. Safe to say my fireteam was not happy but I was over the moon 😅

Got mine doing my first ever raid; Crota’s End. I didn’t know what the weapon was. I was just like “oh I got exotic” and everyone asked and I was like “I can’t pronounce it, but it’s a rocket launcher” and everyone yelled out “Gjallarhorn you SOB!”
And yes, it should come back. Every single weapon, armor, planet, strikes, raids and pretty much every bit of content and loot from day one of destiny one should be available in the destiny universe. Period.

Imagine "Beyond Light" mission where we get Shaxx's missing horn like at the end of the campaign, then go on a hunt for the armour of Guardians fallen during Red War and reforge the new Gjallahorn.
I got a vex mythoclast from the first hard mode VOG I ever did and everyone despised me for it. But I never got a gjallarhorn before xur before sold it a week before it became useless, though I got to see someone get it from the gorgon chest.
But literally all I got was no land Beyond from every Crotas end I ever did, not even a single black hammer
Never actually had that hype feeling considering I got it from Xur on Week 2. But it sure was amazing seeing my friends get it months, heck, some even years after launch.
