To be honest, I never got that, because I was like 'what guarantees them it's the same size? What if this random servant girl just as a similar glass slipper, but made to fit her?' Like, they don't know magic was involved, maybe there's some shoemaker out there that makes special, expensive glass slippers? And this girl happened to buy a pair too. I felt like having the step mother break it hurt more emotionally, so it made sense to have it there.
The funny thing is that the fairy godmother is played by Helena bonham Carter in this movie and in Harry Potter she plays Bellatrix Lestrange so she actually would be a witch in Harry Potter! 😂

But at the end of the book, in a dream, he was reliving that momentn in a dream and because Hera was responsible for all the shit that he went through, he dumped her in the water. So he had a good reason, but he was actually kind enough the first time to the old lady.
Guys it’s not the shoe size, it’s the fact that the glass was perfectly crafted around her foot with perfect detail, so even if someone had the same shoe size they would’ve at least had differently shaped toes and whatnot.

I also appreciated that. I love that this Prince cared enough to actually leave the castle and spend his days amongst the people. It's not realistic for the time period, but it's such a nice change from the original. It makes sense for him to be in disguise too, so he can see the true feelings and motives of the people that they're seeing.

Fun fact (or maybe not): in the original story, the reason the slipper didn't fit anyone but Cinderella was because Cinderella was extremely malnurished due to her stepmothers treatment, and therefore severely underweight and with very small feet
yeah but I'm sure there are several hundred underweight women with small feet in a whole ass kingdom so that explanation is really not good enough. Really the only thing that could make sense was that the slipper was magical and would change sizes to make sure that nobody else's feet would fit.

I've always preferred the Rodgers and Hammerstein's version where Cinderella gives herself that nickname because watching the fire as the cinders fly out relaxes her. But it bugs me how people never catch on that her name is actually Ella.

I actually thought the prince being hidden among the guards was a nice move by Disney.... to have the prince actually lift his finger to find his bride to be....
I also appreciated that. I love that this Prince cared enough to actually leave the castle and spend his days amongst the people. It's not realistic for the time period, but it's such a nice change from the original. It makes sense for him to be in disguise too, so he can see the true feelings and motives of the people that they're seeing.

I've never met anyone who would be that self-aware, so I'm calling bull. It might be their underlying reason, but they would never admit to hurting someone for being "good". Innocent, maybe, if they felt their own innocence was stolen from them. But good? Nah. They've have it twisted in their head into how she thought she was better than them because she had the privilege of acting sweet and playing with mice when they had to be pragmatic and think about their family. They wouldn't see her as good, but as judgy, naive, self-involved and undeserving

Dude, I grew up on fairy tales and loved the Disney Princesses. When this movie came out I was a junior in high school and few of my girlfriends and I went to see it. We were all shook when the step mother broke the other slipper because in the original the step mother tripped the Duke and he dropped the slipper before he could try it on Cinderella; then Ella pulls the other slipper out of her apron, proving she was the girl they were looking for. And I really liked the Prince tagged along in this version because the Duke was always acting shady.
