It's funny how people are fine with combining 100k of studio equipement with a 100k camera, but call combining a 1k iPhone with the same equipement cheating, as if it should be realistic to make the image look the same out of your pocket. If you want to use it like a cinema camera, you'll have to treat like a cinema camera. And yes, that means that the complete set up won't fit in your pocket. The fact that no one noticed is mind blowing. The fact that we even compare it to 100k cameras is a fact that makes it a great time to be alive as a filmmaker. The next step acceptance by the industry. To many filmmakers are not willing to accept that the quality is getting close or matches to their "real" camera and that's a bummer.

No client ever would respect you if you showed up to a gig with phone. I don't care how impressive it is, you will be laughed off of any professional set. Edit: Give me interchangeable lenses and we'll talk again.
Nobody would ever do that anyways. If the project called for it, I would propose shooting on iPhone to the client and explain why. Most professional know by now that the 15 Pro is quite nice. If you're waiting for iPhones to have interchangeable lenses, you may just want to move on though.

I love the way you presented this. It's such an important message in the tech race which we all find ourselves in. It really was impressive and inspiring what apple did with this. I'm glad they showed us the BTS.
As long as you have a well lit scene and want a deep depth of field the iPhone Log footage is fantastic. BUT - once the lighting gets a bit unpredictable (both wide dynamic range and lower levels) and you want a shallow depth of field the physics of the sensor size become key (of course AI is helping 'fake' the physics now). Also the ease of shooting- adjusting exposure/focus etc is so much easier on a larger body with buttons and knobs as well. Once you get to true 'cinema' cameras the differences really do begin to further disappear- the sensor on the lowly Sony FX30 is better than the original Alexa (and we know how many movies were and still are shot on the OG Alexa!) - the advantages of Red/Alexa/Venice are often now more established workflows and client perception that they are 'Pro' rather than any significant image difference from much cheaper cameras...)
Well, you said it, the iPhone has good image quality, but not the same as a cinema camera, with a full frame sensor and a large lens, 11 aperture blades and high caliber glass, that makes the difference between such lenses. small ones manipulated with software. The difference in the images you took with the iPhone vs a real camera is very notable, the 15 pro max would be good to use on a drone in Log because the image looks like that of the DJI Mavic Air 2S. Tim has been a fake to Apple consumers since Steve passed away, Apple was something else with Steve, but with Tim everything is cheating after cheating with them. I switch to Samsung and the RAW camera of those devices is another level but I still wouldn't film without my professional cameras. Good video bro. Cheers.

10-bit ProRes Log is pretty powerful
Same, it's insane how far we've come in just 10 years. You can do a lot of heavy lifting with the log image coming out of the iPhone.

My main point here is that we're now comparing the iPhone to the FX30, Alexa, RED, etc. Not the other way around.
