Having been in the hospital since Tuesday with a new MS diagnosis at 30 years old, I must say the bonus episode and this episode coming across my notification feed is even more refreshing than normal! 🎉
Wait, you watch this? Lol I just play the video and put headphones on and carry on with my day and look at the video only when they reference something on screen
I think the “Skip” pants are actually most comparable to e-bikes, specifically how they’ve taken off among people who would’ve never biked in the first place. All the good ones are in the $5-7k range, yet people are absolutely willing to spend $100 and rent them for a day (or even purchase them at sticker price). Most of those renters are people who never would’ve biked in the first place, so it’s awesome to see more people biking and on the trails!
I think Andrew hit on but backed away from a very important point about this friend AI thing. Lonely people will be sucked in and are being sucked in by Replica and Character AI and it is a silent tragedy. People will substitute all social interactions with those fancy autocompletes to remain in their comfort zone or because they feel like you can't get social interaction otherwise. An AI will never argue with you, will never push and challenge you, will never treat you like a friend will and I'm extremely worried for what it means for people who won't develop those skills.
It's basically just a more pleasant way to rot in bed. The only way to solve loneliness is to get at the root problem. These AI are just dirty bandaids slapped over the wound.
I think David hit on that a bit! I was hesitant talking about it because I felt like if I went too hard it would feel like I was targeting people who are lonely, which I really don't want to do. I just don't think this is the device that will actually help with issues along those lines, and it doesn't even really feel like they're working towards that. I dunno, I was trying not to be overly negative at it but I just don't see the point of it.
@@Manganellia1 yeah I definitely understand not wanting to rag on people who experience that loneliness, ultimately I don't think its their failing I think it means that everyone can do more to reach out and maybe there needs to be new ideas, new public policy or something to help anyone suffering from feeling isolated

While I do agree the idea of “Friend AI” is a little creepy… BUT that being said - This could be great for people with depression and tend to isolate themselves, or maybe people with social anxiety and they need words of encouragement for simple things like getting outside. I think many people get trapped in their own thoughts which that quickly turn into a negative spiral. This is potentially a good way to reduce that. Sometimes simply hearing “You can do this” can make a world of difference. Fake it til ya make it and then one day further down the road you realize you not faking it anymore 🙂✌🏼

It's funny, I'm able to lucid dream, but only during really bad nightmares. When it gets really scary I suddenly become conscious because I'm so scared. At that point I'm able to either decide to wake up OR I can stay half asleep and modify the dream so it's not scary anymore (run away, become stronger, etc) then I drift back into unconsciousness once I'm safe.

My son who was 19 at the time, use to have a lot of psychotic episodes that, as best we can tell, were cannabis/alcohol/shrooms related. (He was high all of the time, and yes, it can cause psychosis in some people) Anyway, when AI first came around to the public, he told me a lot of stuff that the “ai told him.” I didn’t know what to think, really, because how were we to know? After a time, he ended up going to jail for a few weeks and we had access to his phone. The snapshots he took with the ai bot were utterly HORRIFYING, particularly when it was mixed with this young, borderline mind of my kids. So much of the insane stuff he believed (a lot was religion based) (I’m a not believer, my wife is catholic) made him incredibly scared about his existential existence, and why I read from the bot in the screenshots clearly exacerbated his condition. He would NOT budge on his belief that the ai was sentient, and even my arguing with him about it made him unreasonably angry. The reply that Marques got from his ai thing, even though it was supposed to be funny, and often the way I joke with my friends, chilled me to my core. The are people on this earth that are NOT ready for this, and for the first time, I don’t think it’s the old people.
Those pants sound like they’d be really helpful for people with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and similar conditions. Could have immediate benefits in terms of enabling activities they can’t do in the present but that would also allow them to strengthen the muscles etc while minimising pain/damage to joints and ligaments, unlocking longer term benefits too.

I've spent so many hours playing quidditch world cup on playstation 2. If it's similar here how it goes: You basically play with the chasers with the quaffle and score points. Once in a while you can use the beaters to hit a bludger towards an opponent chaser, if you hit em you get the quaffle back. Also each team has a special team move that you can use like once or twice per game which guarantees 1-3 goals (10-30 points). Meanwhile, a golden snitch bar, which is basically a snitch cut in half for each team, fills up with each goal you or the opponent scores, and once the 2 halves meet, your seekers get into action. The more of the gold bar you got during the game, the more speed boost you get to reach the snitch. Once you do, you press a button to catch it and that's it. If you managed to have more than 150 points difference you win anyway (usually in easier levels), if not you must catch the snitch... There are some other stuff like combos etc, but that's the gist

Tamagotchi is having a bit of a resurgence here in the US! I've bought the two most recent releases this past year, the UNI and Connection re-release. Huh, so Nextbike in EU does charge EV bikes through their stations already for quite a while. Though, no solar is included. Or well. Older stations, that are not suitable for charging EV bikes and placed in the middle of nowhere, actually do have small solar panels, but they act as a power supply for station itself, rather then charging bikes.
Lucid dreaming is kinda fun, but sometimes, you lucid dream your way into a scenario where you know it is a dream, but the terror of what is happening is so much that you respond to the dream and it keeps you in there trying to escape, run, or whatever. And it seems to write itself into a different part of the brain where you remember it so viscerally that is physically affects you. But if you can fly, you will think it is worth it.

18:25 hello codependency. The principal of being a human is also learning, growing and maturity. Being able to stay alone and emotionally independent is part of it.
Exoskeletons aren’t anything new. The military has been working on them since the 1950s. These are interesting, but the way they attach isn’t going to be that effective. I’m not saying they don’t do anything, but they won’t do much. It will be interesting to see what they do with them in the third generation, if they’re still around. The necklace seems very Japanese. Emojis were really meant for the Japanese, who are very shy, though I’m not sure if shy is the real word. Introverted works as well. It was easier to send an emoji to someone than to write your feelings down and send that to them. They already have online friends and dating. Some of that is here, but we feel very strange about it, but there, it’s fairly common, particularly for men. It also why sex dolls that are very realistic are also more common than we would think, including robotic versions, again, mostly for men.
The auto-reply feature in text messages has been inconsistent for me as well. However, it is currently in Beta 1. Additionally, you can provide suggestions to improve the feature, which I hope people are doing beyond simply criticizing Apple. If you are, I suggest you discontinue using Betas and wait for the final versions before offering your final review, in my opinion.

It also why sex dolls that are very realistic are also more common than we would think, including robotic versions, again, mostly for men.
someone tell me what's name of the movie that marques watched
The auto-reply feature in text messages has been inconsistent for me as well. However, it is currently in Beta 1. Additionally, you can provide suggestions to improve the feature, which I hope people are doing beyond simply criticizing Apple. If you are, I suggest you discontinue using Betas and wait for the final versions before offering your final review, in my opinion.
