Steve Jobs famously said when you introduce a new category of device, it has to be BETTER at doing things than previous devices. The problem with the Humane AI Pin is it isn't BETTER at anything. For the Pin's engineers having come from Apple, they should've known better!

    • @xsleep1
      @xsleep1 9 месяцев назад +9

I'll guess that in the developer's pie-in-the-sky they thought they could get Apple and Android to allow integration into those networks thus making the device an extension of iCloud or Google (was never going to happen). Or, they thought they could sell the company to Apple or Google (could still happen).

A total solar eclipse is something that if you haven't seen it, you just don't know what you're missing. No picture captures the feeling. Some people thought the applause and cheers on video was cringe, but complete awe is your instinctual reaction to seeing it in person. Partial eclipses really undersell how cool totality is.

    • @godminnette2

This was my first total eclipse, and they're totally right. Partial is different because even the tiniest sliver of the Sun not being covered by the Moon emits so much light that you can't look at it directly, and looking through eclipse glasses makes you lose too much detail of the Sun.
But when totality hits, you can look straight at it, and the Sun's corona is just a thin layer of light. It's gorgeous and humbling. Sadly, this only happens because the Sun is almost 400 times bigger than our Moon, and the distance from it right now fits perfectly to oclude the Sun in its totality. However, because the Moon is escaping Earth's gravity, eventually, there won't be any more total eclipses. I can't image the sadness of the last humans to see this incredible phenomenon, at least I got to see it once.

It's beyond me how any of these startup companies making dedicated AI hardware think they could possibly compete with software implementations on the smartphones everyone already has. It's even more baffling that any investors could be sold on the idea. We already have Open AI, Copilot, and Gemini apps, and Apple is adding AI to iPhone and Siri this year.

1:30:31 AngularJS wasn’t “killed” killed. It is open source and still in use. However, Angular was rewritten and is one of the most popular Frameworks today, but it is no longer JavaScript but TypeScript

some people are born with teeth, also 32 teeth is when including wisdom teeth which not all people even get and even those that do dont always get all 4, so 28 is more right than wrong as everyone has 28 but a number of people dont have 32.

Humane AI Pin is basically same as Full Self Driving. Only works when everything else around is perfect and standardised.

18:30 - that’s not true, if someone is in your car, the AirTag will not trigger the notification because your phone is still going to also be with you. It only triggers that notification if an AirTag is with you and the iPhone tied to the account is not.

Back in 2016 I got a job offer for a location that was going to be in the path of totality for the 2017. I took the job and I told them all that the eclipse was like 60% of the reason I took their offer. Nobody believed me. After we finished watching the eclipse that day, a year later, my manager told me, "Oh, you were serious."
    Total eclipse is a must.

I think that in order for me to buy the pin, the pin needs to:
    a) have a SIM card slot so I can put an accessory card from my carrier in it AND so that I don’t need to get the subscription.
    b) connect to my iPhone as an accessory with the same phone number, using an app on my phone to store data and access settings.
    c) compatibility features with iPhone, such as using the pin as a shutter button to take a photo with your phone etc.

There is a kind of rash called “erythema ab igne” that commonly happens after repeated exposure of heat directly to the skin, particularly from electric blankets and space heaters, I’d be curious to see if cases start developing as a result of the humane AI pin

1:00:07 the dangers with phone is not actually radiation it is extra heat that for a long period can cause internal issue. Doesn’t seem very humane.

Erm, unless I misunderstood what he was saying Apple watch doesn’t have the same phone number. At least not on Verizon. A separate number is assigned and there is forwarding technology in use in the background. But there is another number someone can use to call/message your apple watch directly.
