- This week, there was a surprising amount of big news but one eclipsed the others. Marques, Andrew, and David talk about experiencing a total eclipse and the new Find My Device on Android network before diving deep into the Humane AI Pin. Marques is still working on his review so these are his first thoughts and impressions on the device after using it for a few days. At the end, we play Headlines in a Hat with a 1-sentence twist before closing it out with some trivia. Enjoy!

Snickerdoodle, I don't know how, but I enjoy listening to your podcast every week. It's so wholesome, just a couple of people goofing around and speaking their minds. I really, really enjoy your banter. Keep it up!
What do they mean 6 hour episode??
1:02:07 Andrew saying “it looks like an Apple Watch with a forehead” so nonchalantly made me drop my weights 😭😭
“Are we only counting mouth teeth” is the WORST tag ending this podcast has ever had. Good job Andrew
Also, snickerdoodle.
Bedteeth lel
Where else does Andrew have teeth?
Does anyone remember the movie "teeth"😅
Don't ask questions like that 😅@@jeaneliel
Steve Jobs famously said when you introduce a new category of device, it has to be BETTER at doing things than previous devices. The problem with the Humane AI Pin is it isn't BETTER at anything. For the Pin's engineers having come from Apple, they should've known better!
I'll guess that in the developer's pie-in-the-sky they thought they could get Apple and Android to allow integration into those networks thus making the device an extension of iCloud or Google (was never going to happen). Or, they thought they could sell the company to Apple or Google (could still happen).
This is not a "new category of device", it's literally a mini-phone clipped onto your shirt.
@@barobaro1by that logic, smart watches are just phones on your wrist, which is kinda true
@@xsleep1 You're probably right, its a Proof of Concept to be bought up, perhaps.

Can I just say thank you guys for making these videos. This week has been a tough week losing my kids mom and watching you channels along with some others has helped me distract myself when things get really tough. Keep up the great content and thank you for keeping us entertained
Marques: "like when the iPod came out, I want to listen to music everywhere, I couldn't do that before"
Sony Walkman: "Snickerdoodle!"
A total solar eclipse is something that if you haven't seen it, you just don't know what you're missing. No picture captures the feeling. Some people thought the applause and cheers on video was cringe, but complete awe is your instinctual reaction to seeing it in person. Partial eclipses really undersell how cool totality is.
I had to cancel plans to enter the totality at the last minute, so instead I was at hope in SE Michigan at 99%... and yeah, as David said, completely underwhelming. Hoping to visit my family in Europe to see on in August 2026.
i remember seeing it in 2017 and just had to applaud i was just dumbfounded 😂
It was cloudy where I was. Fastest I've seen it get so dark though
It sucks that more than 33% of the country only got to experience partial eclipse.
@@johchadow I have seen one total solar eclipse. I am 50 now. When the sun appeared was the only time in my life when I spontaneously started cheering and clapping. So did everybody else around me. A total solar eclipse is just something else.
"You're tied in first place. You've carried the one bro!"- Ellis is hilarious🤣
My favorite weekends are when Waveform is over 1.5 hours and WAN Show is over 4 hours. This is a good weekend.
Lmao me too. Wvfrm comes out afternoon and WAN comes out at the end of the day
I was SHOCKED when I saw totality, I saw partial eclipses before and it is not comparable at ALL. Seeing the kind of light, the sudden chilly breeze, the darkness that completely changes the way colors look, and the sharp black hole in the sky with a spiky halo of light around it. Magic.
Yeah, the sun shades were a waste of time. Just look at the 100% total eclipse with binoculars.
Agreed. We sat in the backyard and watched it and it was just sort of shocking. The chill, the darkness, it was weirdly quiet, and then gasps. Very neat.
I love this new long form podcast, LNGFRM.
Wow that snickerdoodle headline was crazy! Maybe next time for headline in a hat you could do 1 minute per person per headline instead of one sentence? Seems like a good way of keeping it short while everyone being able to get all their thoughts out
Appreciate the edit to log when it got mentioned

The transition from serene silence to the sudden burst of birdsong, as if it were a new day, was incredible in the aftermath of the solar eclipse.
YES!! I noticed everything went quiet, no chirping, the street lights came on, it was so eerie
I really enjoyed when Marques had that snickerdoodle in his hat
I drove from WA to AR to see the eclipse (2nd one). They are amazing and each one you get more out of it. I'm amazed at how many people aren't interested in seeing total eclipse
Sending messages for making calls and using a voice assistant are already pretty good on smart watches. Also the AI pin idea seems way better suited on sunglasses like the meta smart glasses. That way the speaker is already near your ears and the camera is already your eyes unobstructed.
You bring up a great point. This device could just be Google glasses, but add AI. Would it sell? Uh ... Maybe. Will it sell in it's current state? Not to consumers but maybe another company will buy it and either kill it or cannibalize its ideas
Let the Humane AI pin roast begin 🤣
Cringe
The Humane AI pin is indeed cringe

18:09 If you have Google Maps on your phone, you can just tap the blue thingy that shows your current location and there's a "Save parking" button
If you connect Bluetooth to your car, Apple Maps saves parked car information automatically based on when the Bluetooth was disconnected (as what happens when you turn the car off)

$24 a month for a clothing accessory that tells you what your tasks are today is a blatant scam.
Welcome to tech
A single $700 payment for a note taking device is ludicrous. Let alone a $24/month subscription.
Hat headlines is so amazing!
i drove 10 hours in 2017 to see the eclipse in totality. absolutely worth it
This was my first total eclipse, and they're totally right. Partial is different because even the tiniest sliver of the Sun not being covered by the Moon emits so much light that you can't look at it directly, and looking through eclipse glasses makes you lose too much detail of the Sun.
But when totality hits, you can look straight at it, and the Sun's corona is just a thin layer of light. It's gorgeous and humbling. Sadly, this only happens because the Sun is almost 400 times bigger than our Moon, and the distance from it right now fits perfectly to oclude the Sun in its totality. However, because the Moon is escaping Earth's gravity, eventually, there won't be any more total eclipses. I can't image the sadness of the last humans to see this incredible phenomenon, at least I got to see it once.
Well the sun will probably explode long before the moon leaves the earth’s orbit
Almost 400? Boy are your numbers wrong 💀
I was watching and having lunch and I legit choked at the end.
"Are we counting only mouth teeth?" 😂😂😂😂
Where else do you have teeth???
vargena
Huh, that's the best explanation of a totality I've heard. I want to see one now!
I really like Andrew's idea of having an assistant (device) connected to your phone and being able to keep your phone in your backpack. I noticed how much I would prefer that on a recent trip. I prefer taking pictures with my camera and use my phone basically for maps, music and texting, if it can take over these tasks then that would be enough for me to give it a try.
As I was listening to the podcast I was thinking, isn't the humane pin just a smartwatch but on your shirt?? And wouldn't it just be possible to improve Siri or Google Assistant and achieve the same result??
Exactly. From a computing hardware perspective, it's just a worse version of your smartphone. In other words, all of the LLM stuff it can do, your phone can actually do better. I actually don't understand why someone would ever think this is a good idea beyond just "cool sci-fi-ish idea is cool"
I love Fridays! :)

Glad your honest about the product, many RUclipsrs are afraid to tell it how it is.
Celebrated my 27th Birthday under the total solar eclipse with my family was absolutely incredible - once in a lifetime 🙏
The idea of Human Ai pin is hilarious to me (at least how it is being implemented) people in US can't even digest two messaging apps let alone 2 separate phone numbers

🥵 Don’t call yourself true _AI Pin believer_ if you don’t have a square chest blister! ♨️
The basics of not pairing with your phone, not at all even a little, is truly mind blowing. I’m an early adopter of AI Pin, so I’m hopeful, but the phone number and no connection to your existing phone is just a huge no bueno.
Bought the AI Pin for a blind family member. Still waiting to receive. After seeing your review, considering canceling. Thought the idea of the pin being able to describe what it sees in detail was a huge selling point for visually impaired. Even make calls, text, remind, etc. So many other questions for you. Feel like this has a lot of potential to improve my family member's quality of life but for $700 and $24 a month 😬 .
One thing i think the ai pin would do really well for me, is capturing memories and staying in the moment. I have never been good at capturing memories, with my phone or my actual camera. They make me try and get the perfect photo, which results in a lot of friction, and therefore less memories to look back on and remember. Capturing memories on the ai pin, is probably as close to zero friction as you can get, and it forces me to not take a perfect photo. Because there is no way to frame it. But that's the thing, these memories doesn't have to be perfect photos. I just need to able to show to my family and friends, and say "i was here and this is what i saw". And maybe most importantly, a couple of years later, I can look at these photos and remember it like I was there, because I was there not focusing on taking the perfect photo, but being in the moment.
You can just get the Meta Raybans and do exactly the same thing you're describing but 10x better and 3x cheaper.

I think you are right on the “smartphones are good point”. I think that smartphones will never be taken out (as is the case with Tailosive Tech) but what will happen over time is that smartphones will become more and more of a camera focused device accompanied by other devices (watches, headphones, glasses, …)
Rabbit owner here: I think cats are 100% stinkier than rabbits. In fact, rabbits are "naturally odorless" according to google. I want an apology Ellis
It would be very humane of you to pin this comment
I enjoy seeing all the guest doing the typing test. It's almost like seeing their inner child get to experience a new toy. Lol
Doodling the Snicker was the best part!
Marques single-handedly bankrupting yet another company 😭
They did it themselves. There's not one positive review for this Humane device.
I'm glad he's honest. If only he was more direct with how dogshit Tesla's are.
The humane ai pin folks are working toward the Star Trek badge. The fact that it kinda works now is pretty cool.
I'm like Andrew ... Constantly ringing my phone with my watch lol
Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
The car parked feature is there if you use Apple Maps . My car always gets stored as a pin called parked car if your iPhone was connected to Apple CarPlay
Marques must be the coolest boss to work with!
I'm glad Marques said it reminded him of the Apple Vision Pro because those were my thoughts at that exact moment. I think it has the potential to be a cool product for old people in nursing homes. Like an updated Jitterbug lol
Man when you get a good look at that eclipse it actually was pretty cool! Went pitch black in that video. 😂 Would not have been able to see that here in Cali.
One of the main questions with first Samsung Smartwatch with a camera and smartglasses with a camera was privacy - having a camera "always" on. No more questions like this opens the room for rolling Meta RayBan and all the smartglasses with cameras, new acceptation. 👍
Way to go, Andrew!!
I lay in bed or on the couch with Vision Pro daily. When immersed you look at the stars and all your screens are in the air it’s amazing
Snickerdoodle!!! Love listening to y'all on Friday on apple podcasts
1:10 ish .... Immersed is coming to the AVP and they allow you to cast your cell phone to your VR space... I use it all the time on my Quest 3... you can have up to 5 mac screens and then your cell phone on there too...
As a third year dental student, I love the dental representation in the trivia!
The doodles definitely made me snicker :P
I never realized the thing about the moon/sun size ratio. It makes sense though. Pretty amazing.
i went to iceland last year and the northen lights are great but you can really see them as well with the naked eye compared to on camera
I don't have an iphone and I'm estatic about it. Ecstatic definition - 1. feeling or expressing overwhelming happiness or joyful excitement.
First place in trivia, some tell Andrew he can choose his prize - either a Snickerdoodle cookie or his name in Marques phone.
It still tracks your location when it’s dead….everything about the segment is terrifying from a surveillance POV. How you can say, this is cool, is nuts.
Can’t wait for next week when everyone freaks out that Andrew is in the lead for trivia after they carry the one
I didn't know the podcast was so much fun
There are a few possible features which seem nice because the pin can do a task without pulling out your phone. It seems to me that many of those could be done better via a smart-watch or maybe smart-earbuds or smart-glasses. (I don't mean the full-blown Apple Vision Pro, I mean just "minimal" smart glasses, like the Ray Ban ones).
Back in 2016 I got a job offer for a location that was going to be in the path of totality for the 2017. I took the job and I told them all that the eclipse was like 60% of the reason I took their offer. Nobody believed me. After we finished watching the eclipse that day, a year later, my manager told me, "Oh, you were serious."
Total eclipse is a must.
Funniest part of the eclipse for me. My dad and I were talking about how animals think it’s night and act different. Then we started smelling smoke. Literally everyone around us had pulled out a cigarette. 😂
Most of things they’re trying to do with the pin is what I already do with my Airpods- and they respond pretty well.
Also, Snickerdoodle.
I can see the pin being good at places where cell phones aren't allowed, as long as you can pair ear buds to it. Movie theaters, meetings, etc... or just to have less screen time on your eyes.
"Are we only counting mouth teeth?" 😆
Honestly, a hub app that connects EVERYTHING I did in that day, across every app so I know exactly what I was listening to as I spoke to someone, is kind of a cool idea. It's kind of what the journal app is that Apple just released, but a central hub of info about your day is personally something I'd use all the time. Not to mention, I use non-apple things that I'd want tied into it too (like RUclips or Netflix).
How is it like the journal app?
@@mmoore8513 the journal app takes in places you went to and some things you did on your phone and asks you if you want to talk about them. It’s a very very barebones idea of what I had above
Well bravo Andrew and now you know that there are plethora of stuff for your child to be entertained by on limited amounts of screen time of course
Looking at this Pin and hearing reviews and all issues got me thinking.
A DIY project with google home speaker taken apart and with added battery and smaller speaker.
Wi-fi connected to the phone would work very similar to this device.
Except it would be sync with google phone/account from get-go.
