The loudest exhaust I'm aware of are Top Fuel dragsters. When idling I've been told each time a cylinder exhausts is has the same acoustical energy as a 12 gauge shotgun shell.
I am always impressed by the top tier engineering of Russian automobiles. They are 1 million miles engines, sporty and stylish. The exhaust is loud but listen to that motor it sounds fantastic!
The exhaust on my 65 mustang rotted through a crappy weld and fell off while I was driving one day. It was the next thing on my restoration list, but decided to give up earlier than I wanted it to. It broke the pipe from the exhaust manifold. Anything above idle was ear piercing.
