I lived in San Diego for 20ish years. Recently my bro sent me a hysterical comedian's bit about what it's like to live in SD. Was spot on! And hysterical. And I replied to my bro that "maybe that comedian saw me biking around mission Bay for hours on end, blasting Amber every day". Long story short...some San Diego stereotypes are true! But also, a band like 311 has stood the rest of time. Not only that, but one of me high school besties (back east), wrote in my yearbook "one day we will lie on the beaches of California blasting 311 and never look back ".
I can't believe this drum sound... it's basically spot on with the record. My gut tells me it's a backing track but everything else is definitely live... I guess Chad is just THAT GOOD.
I know, they have much more of a southern california sound and have sort of evolved into that I guess. Some people just have that vibe even if they came from the midwest and a place like Nebraska...
