Kayaking the Wisconsin River - Mazomanie, WI - Mazomanie Landing to Arena Landing - September 2023

Kayaking the Wisconsin River between the Mazomanie, WI and Arena, WI at the dedicated landings. Both are dedicated landings and indicated on Google Maps. Both have plenty of parking and are well signed at the landings. The only issue with the landings is finding them from the river, especially the Arena Landing. We did use our phones with GPS to ensure we did not sail by the Arena Landing since the landing is now separated from the river by one or two sandbars/islands.
We intentionally paddled the Wisconsin River for this trip to assist the Friends of the Lower Wisconsin (FLOW) with moving mussels from shallow waters into deeper areas. With the water levels at extremely low levels, the DNR and FLOW are asking for volunteers to look for mussels in low water areas and move them into deeper waters. Once you get an eye for them in the rocky shallows, they aren’t hard to find and relocate.
