Kayaking the Zumbro River - Zumbro Falls, MN - Zumbro Falls to Hammond, MN - October 2023

Kayaking the Zumbo River between the Zumbro Falls, MN and Hammond, MN at the dedicated landings. Both are dedicated landings and indicated on Google Maps. Both have plenty of parking and are well signed at the landings. Lastly, both of them have porta potties.
The river level was 5.15’ at Zumbro Falls and was a perfect level. Sure, we scraped several times but that is expected from our paddling experiences. The water clarity was super and we saw a ton of fish. Looking down into the river was as scenic as the surroundings; it felt at times that we were looking down into an aquarium.
This is a beautiful stretch of the Zumbro River and highly recommended.

Yes, because both of us were traveling from out of the area and different directions, we had two vehicles. Each vehicle is capable of hauling (2) boats so that makes it easier. That said, their is a gravel road that pretty much follows the river and is pretty darn flat; a bike shuttle would be possible with a bike that can do gravel. We did see a guy with an ATV shuttle himself; he literally strapped his kayak perpendicular across the front of his ATV and drove away. Pretty cool setup!

I have kayaked up this entire stretch. 10 years ago my best upriver time was 2 hours 40 min. Done it dozens of times. One of my faves
