Huge shoutout to Handmade for being open-minded. We know the stigma we carry because of where we're from. We know there are some terrible frames out there. A bike mechanic's worst nightmare usually starts with "Hey, I bought this cheap frame online and..." so THANK YOU for accepting Jasper's offer. "It surprised be a little." was the cherry on top 🍒 we're gonna keep working to surprise people. Of course, thanks to Jasper for documenting the process. Looking forward to you taking it for a ride!
Very impressed that you guys started facing your frames after another video that criticized the lack of facing. This frame is at the top of my list for an eventual custom build.
It says in the video that "building bikes from china is not a service they normally offer", where do they think the argon 18 in the background came from!
Dude, why are you so upset? All I said was they usually don’t build up bikes for customers that come to their shop with parts of random brands (in this case a chinese brand, Winspace). They have a certain assortment, which is selective. They have all right to since it’s their shop. Nevertheless, they where impressed by the quality which is clearly shown in the video. Even though argon and cervelo are made in china, they are not in the category “Chinese bike brand” like Winspace. Don’t hate me for it, hate the industry. It’s pretty clear I don’t have a problem with Chinese in general. 🤙🏻
@@jasperverkuijl Your mechanic friend is happy to take a frame made in China and sold by a westerner but won't take a frame directly from China. You are an intelligent guy, an airline pilot, you must be able to see why the statements are offensive. @@theillegalimmigrant9314 It's completely normal for bike shops to not take random bike parts of random bike brands they haven't worked with. There is nothing offenisve about any of those statements.
The Argon18 in the background might be manufactured in China. But it was designed, engineered, assembeled and quality controlled elsewhere. There is a difference and you know it. There is the risk that non established and unknown brands from China produce bikes that don't hold up to these quality standards.
Mechanics always make bike builds look so easy. I can do it but takes me 3 or 4x's as long! Great build btw. Looks great. No rimtape is a big plus in tl in imo :) U need a booster pump with tubeless I find tho. Pita without it. Makes things so much easier!

Hello @jasperverkuijl, could you please comment on sizing? What is your height, leg lenght, what frame size have you ordered, and how well it fits you? Thanks.
I’m 183. Don’t know leg length my my saddle height is 76,5cm from BB to top saddle. I have an L but I find it too big. It’s quite high in front (head tube) so can’t get my handlebar low enough for racing. Nevertheless this is great for comfort and bikepacking etc
Just buy it for the looks if you really want to. Performance gains are debatable and marginal at best just watch some Hambini videos. If it would make a huge difference all the world tour pro's would use them
I didn’t mention. Im 186cm. The bike is a size L. But in hindsight I would’ve chosen a M with a longer stem to be able to drop the stem lower and still get the reach I wanted.

Hi Jasper, Awesome build first of all, can i ask, what size frame is this and how tall are you? I am 6.4ft and wondering if large will be too small or just right?
I’m 1.86 and this is a size large. It’s quite big. But you can find all the geometry info on the website of Winspace and you can compare some only geometry comparison tools too 🤙🏻
It would be nice Jasper to maybe get your thoughts comparing your steel gravel bike vs carbon gravel bike. I always thought carbon maybe too stiff and harsh.
It’s a lot lighter! Carbon is stiff where it needs to be and flexible where it can. That’s the crazy thing of carbon, the characteristics are not the same everywhere. So far I like it and rides like a dream 🤙🏻
@@jasperverkuijl More just a sign of bearing alignment and therefore one sign of care/quality by the manufacturer. It is also a small loss in performance but I doubt it makes a huge difference. Some new builds you can see them spin (without pedals) for nearly 10 seconds by comparison
You REALLY need to take more care when sewing carbon fiber... Wear respiratory protective equipment and do it outside. And definitely don't blow the carbon dust everywhere, that's a massive health risk!
Hi, would you mind telling us the total price of this beauty? Is it indeed a lot cheaper than getting one similar gravel bike from brands like Canyon, Trek, etc?
I’ll have to do the math. Groupset was about 1000, frame 1000, wheels 700, seat, handlebar (carbon), tires, bartape, stem etc probably about +-500. So that’s like 3300-ish?
