These videos, an art in and of themselves, go to prove that American hype and noise isn't necessary for success. My husband always says, if you can't be good, be loud. Ishitani is simply... good. Thanks for the inspiration
I am a first-year student in Carpentry and just seeing what you are doing with your hands, it makes me want to push myself even more to learn the trade. Thanks so much for this video it is beautiful to speak and I hope to have your skills someday in the future.
I am glad you have brought back the videos. They are helpful for my woodworking projects, but they suddenly vanished. It is considerate of you to put the caution. Thank you very much for these videos.
I've lost count how many times i've watched through all your videos. I'm re-watching this one as I recently made a Windsor chair at furniture school. Interesting to note how much I understand now. Thank you, you're inspired me to change my life and follow my dream.
The ad before this video was a Deadpool trailer. I actually watched it because I really want to see that movie, and then this video played. It was the craziest, and most awesome juxtaposition I've ever witnessed!
Well I'm guessing those are not cheap, but just the amount of work and care that goes into every chair, absolutely stunning. I hope some day I can them
Your videos are so engrossing and captivating because there seems to be almost a spiritual element to them. There's truly a Zen like purity to your approach and your works of art. Truly lovely and peaceful. Congratulations and respect to you sir! Nothing but admiration for you and your work!
What more can be said, your a marvel at what you do. You use your tools skillfully and with dedication. I am learning to follow your practices and put them into what I make. Profound Gratitude.
Amazing work from both Natsuki on the woodworking and Chie on the video editing. I only hope to be as good at woodworking as Natsuki one day. Let me know if you ever need an apprentice. 😉
Gorgeous chair! I love the joinery. I hope that you do well selling them. I hope to make some chairs someday, as there is no way I could ever justify the expense of beautiful furniture like this. Really is gorgeous though. Building a stool now that I believe will bring me one step closer to feeling confident enough to build a chair.
Beautiful Chairs. I'm not taking anything away, but if I had half a million dollars worth of machinery, I think I could make the exact same chair. Now, could I do the same with hand tools? I'm not so sure. I'm going to try. Love your chairs. Great work..

Awesome. i love your videos. watching it after a long day at office would refresh me... quiet, peaceful, the details, how's the things done just hypnotizing. Keep posting... Masterpiece Channel!!!!
Beautiful craftsmanship and video. These chairs seem reminiscent to Paul McCobb Planner Group chairs and or Nakashima chairs for Knoll. Were any of these a point of reference? Amazing amount of work and details, excellent job!
Wonderful … Moreover the quality of the videos matches the quality of the furniture. Very impressive. If I was wealthy I would certainly ask you to furnish my home !…
Es un placer a la vista, verte fabricar "arte", ya que cada pieza que haces es casi la perfeccion. Gracias por compartirlo. Realmente me parecieron un video mas lindo que otro. Saludos.
This an interesting video with unique techniques and very good workmanship and a fine looking chair. I caution anyone doing woodworking about the safety hazards involved with wearing gloves while using power equipment in the woodshop particularly table saws.jointers , radial arm saws, and lathes.
I have psoriasis pretty bad affecting my hands and have to wear gloves at work, and whenever handling anything. I also need them for grip, as my hands get so dry and scaly that to keep from dropping things I need to hold them so tightly that I crush them. Or drop them. All that said, beautiful work. I love implementing ideas from others in work I do, and this joinery will be exciting to exciting to try! Thanks!
Dave James It is used by chairmakers to selectively dry the wood for the leg tenon. When the leg is put in place in the seat, the tenon will take up some of the moisture in the seat and because it was a snug fit when dry, it will never move or go loose in the chair's lifetime. In the past, chairmakers would have used hot sand in a can or bucket. The box will have a heat source inside of it. Probably an incandescent light bulb. Good question. You were definitely paying attention :)
I struggle with atopic dermatitis as well, and when I am woodworking, the sawdust of certain woods extremely irritates my condition. I however still dont wear gloves, because I dont feel safe. If you choose to wear yours, more power to you. Just be safe and keep up the good work!
Just beautiful and fascinating all at once!! Nothing I can say here that hasn't already been said, but yet I feel compelled to comment anyway just to add my two cents worth! Just inspiring.
where did you get all the industrial quality tools and machines? you have the best shop I've ever seen! Is it a family inheritance? an auction find? also, love how you choose different colours of wood to show off your joinery and other fastenings.
Seeing your talents and the time it takes to make these chairs reminds me of what i always tell my step sons... If your going to do something, do it right ... Or don't do it at all! They have a habit of doing things half assed. And that just bothers me. I'm trying to instill in them the proper way of doing things. Your work is amazing!
Wow and great job CHIE. Nice video work. Not a lot of loud music. good close up angles of what he is doing. Does anyone know what kind of finish he is using?
I'm always enjoying it in Korea. Thank you. And I'm always watching and learning. But I still haven't made a back-to-back round at my level of skill. So I'd like to buy it with made with Walnut. I want to make the rest.
Fantastic as always, functional sculpture. I haven't seen the ironing approach to wood bending - does he just soak the wood here first, or was there also steaming?
Some channels you watch people learn as they go... this channel is watching a master do his work! Really love the quiet, peaceful videos!
+1
Thank you Mike :)
Yeah- he's in a deep zone! I love the visible joints in the top of the seat- I had to subscribe

That was a neat way to do steam bending. I would never have thought you could get enough penetration using this method. So glad I found you.
Is he simply wrapping in damp cloth and aluminum foil and ironing them?
Hi!
Seems strange to be able to bend such thick sections so easily.
Also no commentary!
I would love more of an explanation on this technique as well :)
I have to say, you never cease to make me realize how far I have to go before I can call myself a craftsman.
I'm so amazed watching any of your videos! A master craftsman, creating truly breathtaking works of master art! Bravo!
Interesting to see how much work goes into making a spindle back chair. Thank you for sharing this video.

The feeling of ultimate satisfaction when all the pieces fit together exactly how they are intended to..... Ahhh.....
Beautiful work.
What is the box with chair legs in for? It has a light inside, I've seen it in some of your other videos.
Dave James It is used by chairmakers to selectively dry the wood for the leg tenon. When the leg is put in place in the seat, the tenon will take up some of the moisture in the seat and because it was a snug fit when dry, it will never move or go loose in the chair's lifetime.

Good question. You were definitely paying attention :)
That's so smart!
@@MarkHarrisonBNE Thank you for answering that. Lets say the wood is at about 10 % moisture content - how long should the tenon be in the box for?
I sincerely look forward to come learn from you all the way from Nigeria. I respect the ingenuity of your craft. I covet your skills.
so so so amazing, great craftsmanship. I love watching your videos. keep em coming!

Amazing work! Congratulations 💯👍
I noticed you ran the grain on the seats from left to right and not front to back any certain reason why other than looks and style. beautiful work
Bravo again and always! ...from Brazil.
Very beautiful work! Do you soak the wood before ironing or just cover it with wet cloth and aluminium foil?
Soak in water for 1or2 days.
Hhow long do you iron the piece before bending?
I was wondering that too.
I greatly admire your work. I cannot wait to see what you will create in the future.
Your work is very good thanks for sharing
Great workmanship and the workshop looks so peaceful :) Keep it up :)
Fantastic as always, functional sculpture. I haven't seen the ironing approach to wood bending - does he just soak the wood here first, or was there also steaming?
