Elisabeth, thank you very much for this summary! Once again I discovered that God uses simple people without any formal education to fulfill his missions by revealing visions to them. What fascinated me most was the doctrine of tears. God bless!😘❤
I have skimmed over this book for a couple of years, and I never understood the Bridge, sea or river allegory until I heard your definition on your channel…I started reading that section of the writings…and now I’m pulling apart each sentence, like a poet- I’m finding treasures and understanding for me, and I will be studying St. Catherine for a long time- again your you tube ministry I call it , is way helpful- thanks and God’s blessings to you😁
Just about to read this book for a class. I like overviews, esp this book that is all over the place and intimidating. Your perceptions are very helpful. God bless you. I subscribed too.
Most mystics are so "absorbed" in their ecstasies/visions/mystical experiences, so their sayings, writings and deeds, usually not systematic and peculiar. Few mystics somehow manage to systematize their experience into coherent system of teachings. It is for few people only... because the nature of mystical experience are so strong... it is difficult to resist and to manage the function of mind/cognitive abilities keep working normally. Usually this correlates with the mystic's education/intellectual background... that background affect their ability to express/teach/propound their mystical experience in logical systematic way.
If you found the book disorganized, you read the wrong translation. You probably read the translation of a hundred years ago which was terribly done. That was put out by TAN press. Please read the Suzanne Noffke translation put out by Paulist Press. You will find it clearer and properly organized.

Welcome to my channel Mr. Elms! I'm glad I could help!
10/10 for me out as for the insights, revelations and conversions it could have produced.
