As a fellow New Jerseyan, it was touching to hear Taylor highlight it near the end of the interview. Always been (and will be, thanks to recordings like these!) an inspiring guy that promoted the good in life.
Taylor and Dave changed what it means to be a "Rock Star." Before Rock Stars were these larger-than-life characters. Like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Living the Rock Star life. Rock Stars also primarily only played with their band. Dave and Taylor play together and also had independent projects. Who says you have to be in only one band for the rest of your life. Maybe the Beatles would have stayed together if they did the same thing and were able to express the different creative sides of themselves. They also brought fun to rock. In one interview Taylor said, "Don't call me a Rock Star, I'm a musician." And that's how he and Dave live, they love music. Taylor will be greatly missed but together he and Dave left a great legacy behind.
Hearing him talk about his kids makes me think of mine and their transformation into their musical world. When they were with me at a very young age, was a heavy dose of AC/DC, Thin Lizzy and Judas Priest that they were exposed to. As they got older, they found their own music and nothing makes me prouder and happier than when they turn me onto music they love and I end up loving it as well. Taylor was a good man, a solid parent, great musician who made some mistakes that many of us have made and he is in a different place now. He will live on thru his music.
