I went with Halltech and put on the ATAK system. You can tell the difference in the pulls high range and better throttle response. The sound is amazing. Ported manifold and throttle body next.
Great information, especially for those of us that are always looking at modifying our cars! Now I don't have to hunt down and research all of them separately so much! Thank you!
Excellent work controlling the atmospheric variables which effect combustion and performance! Much appreciated and subbed because of your technical approach!
From what you showed in this video I want to go with the Halltech Hornet because it looks like its the Best all around air filter after you add mods to the C8 Vette !!! ;)
Awesome work as usual Paragon!!! Can you do a video with a review or comparison of what the ultimate bolt on package would be? Use the best or your recommendations for:: intake ported/ PTR, TB, CAI, Headers, Sport Cats, Cat Back and whatever else can be bolted on👍
Excellent air intake shootout..! I had already bought the K&N intake but I did not install it yet, so I will return it and buy the Halltech instead here since it had the most power in the high RPM ranges - since I will be doing more track days with my C8 here; normally I only buy real carbon fiber parts for my C8, but I don't think the aFe or the Corsa are worth the extra money since you can't see their beautiful carbon fiber boxes displayed easily like you would with a front engine car intake - weight savings is probably not worth it either here..?
aFe's intake is currently on sale for $770 so you may want to check that one out instead since it has a much fatter overall powerband vs. the others. The Halltech really only shows gains in the top 500 RPM which isn't all that usable. The Corsa would be the clear winner for someone who lives north of 5k RPM and is willing to drop the cash for all that gorgeous carbon fiber!
The aFe is a great option for the power gains for sure. The Halltech Hornet starts to pickup power from 5000 rpm and up to redline at 6500. The reason we recommend the Halltech is because of the cleaner MAF signal which gives you a good base for other mods such as exhaust, cats, or headers to ensure you're going to get the most out of them.

This is a totally novice question....and anyone can answer it, please....but these cars are supposed to have 495hp (z51). Is there a reason a dyno is substantially less? Does the manufacturer measure the hp differently? Just wondering why it wouldn't show close to that on a dyno. Thanks!
Advertised Hp from manufacturers are always crank numbers. We & most other shops measure in WHP (wheel horse power) as that is the number you're putting to the ground.
How much is the AFE intake affected by heat since it’s an open box? Would it be more susceptible to losing gains from getting too hot compared to the other intakes when drag racing or tracking the car?
When you say fuel trimmings, is this the new AFR affecting the ecu’s readings, giving more fuel as there is more air? Would this be corrected or balanced after a while by the ECU, and is it always bad to have a change in trims? Thanks!
The ECU starts making adjustments immediately for the extra airflow. After 100 miles or so the car dials itself in. It's not bad to have a change in fuel trims when adding performance parts.
@@ParagonPerformance Thanks for the reply! So when you mention the Haltech intake didn’t cause any changes in the maf readings as a positive note, what does it mean?
@ParagonPerformance Yes, HTC on allocation, so I may need to consider the AFE as an alternative. Or... What is the difference in the performance numbers; between the entire AFE air box conversion and just installing the $150 Attack Blue filter into the OEM air box?
@@TierOneLandscapes The modification for the Halltech is just removing 1 rivnut, it's not serious. It's our #2 intake behind the Eventuri Intake. Don't oiled filters take some distance driven to distribute the oil through the filter for best air flow ?
Our filter is the same media as the Attack Blue Nano Synthetic dry filter. We no longer do business with K&N
It would be interesting to see what the gains are with ram air actually involved.
We tested a fan right into the OEM airbox, it actually lost power.
It seems that the OEM CAI with Attack blue filter is the best option.
