I am also a Mustang guy and traded my '16 GT for a C8 in 2022. The C8 is a great car, and I can honestly say that its the best performance car I have ever owned. That said, I have a '24 Mustang on order, and I am looking forward to trading in the C8.
The cold start with the performance exhaust is awesome. Starting my 24 C8 is a great way to start the day. The 0-60 is unbelievable too. I loved my supercharged 15 Mustang GT, but the C8 acceleration is truly impressive.
Please learn about the c8 before making comments on the structure of the car. There is no torque tube and there is PLENTY of room. Try moving the seat back. Ive used the draggy and pulled 2.7 0-60 and a consistent 2.9. Try again
I’ve had both, 5.0 and C8 at the same time. I would take a C8 for a lot of reasons and a mustang for a lot of reasons too. Both are great cars and bring different ownership experiences. For one, the corvette will open A LOT of doors. Going out on a Friday night with the Mrs in the C8 would always get me VIP parking for free at clubs etc and people treat you like you’re in a Ferrari. The mustang gets a bit of attention too but no where near the C8 or even the C7 I had. Yes it’s a smaller cabin, I’m also 6’0 and 225lbs and I never had an issue. But to get in the corvette, or any low sports car, you go in butt first and once your butt lands on the seat, then you put your legs in. It’s the only way to comfortably do it. Long trips the C8 is amazing, but the mustang is a bit better, but not by much and I had the carbon seats. Now if you compare a C7 to a premium mustang on a road trip, I’d take the mustang, I always hated long drives in my C7. Regardless of what car you get, you’ll definitely be in for one hell of a ride and ownership experience!
I've owned 2 Z06s, 5 FOX Body Stangs, 1 2016 Performance Pack Mustang and now m current 2020 Saleen Yellow Label 740hp. Corvettes are a blast and are great and so are the Stangs. I can do both all day! I just drove my yellow label to west Texas El Paso TX 600 miles both ways and it was simi convertible to the Z06. Pretty much take your pick of fun. Lol
They are both excellent cars; preference is up to you!!!! I owned a 2020 GT500 and loved the 760hp, the only flaw was the small gas tank and was visiting a gas station way too often. Other than that…..it would still be in one of my garages. I now own a 2023 C8 HTC and love this car. Unheard of miles p/gal with the 4 cylinder activation while just cruse-sing even at 70miles per hour in the expressway!!! Honestly, I don’t look back.
Interesting I am the same height and though I really loved the idea of getting a vette both the C7 & C8 were much too tight for me. I guess I am just used to the extra room in the Mustang
I actually rented these on back to back california road trips for a week each off turo. Despite their heritage, they are very different cars nowadays. The mustang still has a muscle car identity, but with the flick of a switch it can also be a comfortable daily driver. The corvette feels more like a european supercar, but also comfortable for daily driving
I went from a 2020 5.0 to a C7 Grandsport. No regrets. Love both cars but the handling and interior on the corvette is on super car level. The mustang needs to be modified to compete with the corvette around the track and the interior quality is not very good on the mustang. Honestly in in todays age. We should just appreciate what we have before it’s gone.
Im with you on that. Went from 22 mustang gt to a c8 corvette z51 and it is a significant difference. I love ford, but this corvette is superior in every way. Plus most are failing to realize that to build a faster mustang takes more money than any LS or LT. Ask how I know 😢...
How car you compare a mustang and a Corvette? That's like comparing an off shore boat to a fishing boat.. And EVERY automotive tester raves about the Camaros chassis...
@@Sub-Zero-392 in a straight line yes but not around the turns. If I was to race my own 10speed vs my Grandsport with the same power. The c7 will take it. Sure the Mustang is great for power you will not find anything close to it for the power to money ratio except a Camaro. Buy a 5.0 for 30k drop 2k on headers and a E85 Tune and you’re at 600hp, but if you want to make it a track car. Just forget it
Kudos to you for the honest review! I’ve owned a 14 GT, 18 GT PP1, and 2022 GT premium. That said, my new C8 is on another level for barely any more money. I will ALWAYS love Mustangs, but the the price of them pushed me to the C8 and it’s on another level.
I owned a 2022 Corvette LT1 for 8 months and It Is Better than any mustang GT Ive owned and I have owned a 2012,2015 and 2018 and currently a 2020 mustang GT, I Would die to own another C8 Corvette but my wife doesnt want me paying over a grand on a C8 car note so I am stuck in a stang for now. Lol ;)
@@AmericanMuscleChevrolet honestly, I don’t really care much for the C8 Corvette. It is way too computer controlled and My Son and I both think the whole back clip is just ugly as hell. From the part that starts behind the doors all the way to the back of the car. Poorly designed. They need to cut a foot off the length of the vehicle/drop its weight/ add an extra hundred horsepower/ etc. and keep it at the same price point. The new 2024 Mustang GT is just an all-around great package. The entry-level stick shift GT is the best in my opinion. Got mine for $40,000. Can’t beat that!
@@FrankFernandez-l8t that’s awesome. I’d I were to realistically get a new V8, I’d 110% be a base model, or cheaper spec, manual GT for sure. Can’t beat V8 and a 6 speed.
I own a C8 HTC stingray and a 21 Mustang GT Premium PP and it's apples to oranges. The C8 is a better car in every way unless you like an old school type interior with gauges (gone for 2024 however so then C8 is better in every way). My mustang gets lots of love as it's a 6sp manual but if I desire lots of attention and mind blowing 0-60 acceleration, the C8 is a hands down winner. I also prefer top down cruising.
I’m very happy with my C8 Stingray but I will never understand why GM made the exhaust so loud on startup and then quiet as a kitten when it’s warmed up. Most people don’t know how to correctly setup launch control. I consistently get 0-60 in 2.7 seconds
@@JDeadwyler Because no one, zero people have ever recorded a time below 2.8 seconds on an accurate timing device. No Magazine, no RUclips channel, no actual reviewer. Most times are in the mid 3's.
Man. You lost me at “cramped cockpit” and “massive torque tube”. I’m 6’2” and 220 and the C8 has loads more seating room than my S550. And go ahead and show me that torque tube…. I’ll wait…
Yeah my bad on the 'torque tube' thing, meant to say backbone... Sometimes in the heat of the moment I misspeak and don't realize it until its too late- shit happens. Oh well- I'll just make sure to sit in on the edits from here on out lol. -Justin
Great video....a buddy and I rented a total base C8 1LT Vette just to see what they were like a few weeks back. He's 6'3" and said he felt great in it. Only complaint he had was the seats have a narrow feel in the back....but they are very aggressive sport seats, so makes sense. The car itself is an amazing accomplishment for GM. Totally changed the game making something like this accessible at 70k. We were also pulling close to 3 secs 0-60 which feels absurd when you're in the car....just a total rocket ship. By far the fastest and best handling car I've ever driven....and it was the cheapest most base vette you can get....which blows my mind.
Spot on. I went from 3 mustangs to a 2022 stingray 3LT with z51 and do not look back , and the last stang was a 2017 GT350 that I tracked extensively. Nothing beats physics. I tell people if you prefer Modern American style sports and muscle cars , mustangs Camaros challengers , and you want an upgrade in luxury performance the Corvette is that car
My family had both and driven each on twisty road. Since you have access to track I can bet you love C8. Serious car that wants to be driven serious. I got upset at slightest mistake going through corner. Mustang is an entertaining GT car that is fun in real world but way too numb for track work
Great video, spot on. Driven both and corvette is just another level. As an everyday driver car, I’d go with mustang. Corvette is more like the weekend getaway/show car. Love the competition of these automakers.
Camaro has been behind the Mustang since 1980 bro. Why you think everyone is pushing the Corvette up against the Mustang, because the Mustang has stepped in Corvette world even though its a muscle pony car. The Mustang is one bada## car, atleast you could be honest about it bro
I owned a 2015 GT, 2018 GT tuned on E85 and a fully loaded 2020 GT Premium performance package. I love the Mustang platform for what it is. I just bought a C8 3lt with Z51 package 2 weeks ago. I will say the main reason I opted for the Corvette was the price point. The Mustang is getting to be priced at a point where you get into C8 prices. Especially if you look at the Darkhorse iteration. Personally even though I love Mustangs I dont think they are 75k cars. The only downside to the C8 is lack of manual transmission option. I do miss that aspect. Otherwise the C8 is an amazing machine and now is more affordable than ever comparatively to the Mustang
I'm a devoted mustang guy..but the Corvette for its price and performance, it's the best car you can buy right now period..would I trade my mustang for it?...maybe
I’m a mustang guy also,, but I’d trade for a vette in a second!….no doubt about it.. they both look good and I’d take either. But that vette is awesome…I can only afford a stang so I’m happy
I am 6’2 235 not small and have plenty of room in the corvette it’s not that tight this is in the 2021 C8 that we have. Never sat in a mustang so can’t compare what sitting in a mustang is like. Also have a 2023 ZL1, and 2023 2ss 1le plenty of room for me as a big guy in the car.
First of all, the Vette isn't a muscle car. Of course it's better than a Mustang. The proper comparison would be the Mustang vs the Camaro (SS & ZL1), and maybe the Dodge to some extent.
You are going to have a tough time getting a 2024 C8 for $70k. Mine came in at $90k with a total of $100k after adding some PPF,ceramic coating, and an after market front splitter and low profile rear spoiler. Mine is also a hard top convertible(which I love). Push a button and the top goes down or up in 16 seconds. Overall,I love my new C8!
The sticker price on this one was pretty high up there, I think Justin mentions the price in our latest short! Something like $18k alone in add-ons. 😅 Thanks for watching!! -Zach
Plenty of '24 C8's out there 1LT trim with a couple options with MSRP's of $72-74K...I currently drive an "01 Z51 C5 (6 spd with 31K original miles on it), I've also owned several Mustang GTs. ...I have a Dark Horse on order since last September...difficult to get...so I might be going with a C8 (that will be my third Vette)....and I would be happy with the base C8 (don't need all the bells and whistles...don't need another Z51) and since the price of a new base C8 is about what I will be paying for the Dark Horse, I might just go with the C8. Though I will say, you can't beat the sound of that 5.0 Coyote engine vs the Chevy 6.2L V8.
It's a HTR ...Hardtop Roadster. We of the older Corvette days ,[ 60s,70s ] know all droptop Corvettes are Roadsters. Try calling it a Convertible back in the 60s...you'd get de- balled Pronto . No snotnose, Tranny, bullshit.....just REAL guys.
I own the c8 and I have a friend who has the mustang gt and I love them both at 2 different price points your getting great value for them I personally love the look and feel if the c8 WAY more but I still love the mustang. I would personally say to compare it more so to the dark horse
Being that the Mustang isn’t a performance pack spec I don’t know if that exact car is a good comparison to the C8 especially with the handling part. But the C8 is definitely a great car I hope to drive/ride in one someday!
All we have in our fleet here at AM right now is that 2024 GT Base unfortunately! If we had a higher trim option or a Dark Horse, it would've been a closer comparison (that's why Justin spoke to that trim specifically!) Thanks for watching, Sean! -Zach
The issue is the Mustang is an everyday driver. I have a 2016 GT which I can comfortably drive Queensland to Victoria 17hrs straight, have massive room for eski (cooler) tent, fishing gear (both fly and angling) clothes, slab of beer (case), wine and whisky with an after market proper spare wheel, drive on dirt roads (although I did split a front tyre) with an average of 8.4L/100km (28mpg) together with beautiful sound and handling. I guess this is why it's a "GT".
I’ve been driving Corvettes for the past 30 years from C3-C6 generations & a 2018 ZL1 they all had tons of space for me & my luggage’s never had any issues with feeling cramped & I’m 6’2 240 also you forgot to line them up in the 1/8 & 1/4 mile to see how close they really are!
Great video as I’m actually comparing these 2 myself. I’ve never owned a Vette before so I’m leaning that way. As a price reference my c8 build is approx 18k more than my mustang build.
My mom has GT, my brother the C8. Choosing depends on what you are looking for. The Stang is about entertaining you (get active exhaust/giggle inducing ). Feel cool and have a good time. C8 is a supercar who’s serious about driving. I got upset at smallest mistake in corners. So you feel like you’re in something special but very serious. Both very comfortable GT cars for commutes & road trips.
I own both and I also have Dodge and Toyota products so I am as unbiased as they come from a fanboy perspective. If we are talking straight up performance, it's not even a fair comparison as the C8 is in supercar realm. If we talk appearance, the C8 gets 10x the looks and love, but if we talk ride comfort for daily use, the mustang wins. The one reason I keep my mustang around is it's a 6sp manual, something the corvette doesn't offer. I also like the old school feel of the interior of my 2021 GT premium w/PP but that is now lost and gone with the new 2024's unfortunately. The prices aren't as far apart as you would think, so if you aren't over spending to get to the mustang GT, spend a little more and get the C8 and you will so happy you did unless it's your one and only vehicle making it a daily driver.
I have had a couple mustangs in the past, but when Chevy first came out with the shadow rendering of the C8 it was every screen saver i had until mine came in. There is no comparison. The mustang is a fun car, the corvette is THE car
You would have liked a higher spec C8 even more. I went from a 2023 ZL1 to a nicely spec'd C8 with mag ride and performance exhaust. It's an amazing car. Mine isn't a Z51 but I've still seen 0-60 in 2.9 after only a few tries. Way lighter feeling through corners. More precise. I love it.
I own both a 2023 C8 Corvette as well as a 2019 Mustang Shelby GT, and I recently sold my 2020 Mustang GT PP1. I've not driven the Dark Horse, but based on my experience with the Shelby and the GT PP1, I agree with everything he has to say in the video. The rear engine design of the Corvette really makes that much of a difference, and Chevy has done a great job setting up the new chassis. I still much prefer the linear, free-revving nature of the Coyote engine over the LT2 engine, but the handling of the Corvette over the Mustang is like night and day. They're both great cars but are very different from one another.
I’m 6’4” and 185 lbs and both cars fit me well. It’s the driving feel I give the C8 hands down. It just hugs the curves and with the GM Borla exhaust it sounds so freakin good. GM got the styling just right. Ford on the other hand botched the dark horse styling. The mach1 looks better and cost $20K less now. Used ones are $49K and dropping big time. This time next year maybe $39K for a mach1. Yes C8’s are plentiful and good deals can be had.
I was a Mustang guy for years! Bought a 2023 C8 Z51 and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to Mustang. Hardtop convertible is worth it too! I can have the top down, fit my golf clubs in trunk and still have the frunk for a duffle bag
Great honest review! 99 SVT Cobra insanely modded, 17 GT350, 19 GT 10 speed w/3.55 Stang PP1 Premium with FP track pack & bullet tune - great ride basically a Mach 1. Have made C8 Z06 with Z07 aero possibly heading my way 🙄🤩. Oh did I mention my 18 ZL1 1LE
We just made the point that an upper-trimmed Mustang like the Dark Horse is crossing into the same price range of the C8 Corvette - so we wanted to see how they compare! -Zach
When you get older the #’s mean less and it’s more of driving experience you find enjoyable. The Mustang is more entertaining especially with active exhaust. C8 is serious and i got upset at any mistake I made in corners. So serious track rats will love it. I’d still take my BRZ over both cause sub 3000 lbs with manual is my thing.
@@ThisNameWasTooLon What world do you live in where I can find a dark horse for 35-45k? I will buy one right now and resell it for 60k and undercut the 65k sellers right now
I had two mustangs. Now I have one and a C8 LT3 Z51 package with magnetic ride and front end lift. I’ve tracked the car twice and it’s magnificent. I also enjoy tracking my mustang but there’s a serious amount of understeer with all that weight on the front wheels.
not its not are you slow? it has 2 and a half seats, front engine so it does not handle good. sounds worse and has less storage then the c8@@jacobsteele7138
Lightning lap has Z51 package vette @ 2.49.0 and Dark Horse at 2.51.2, so non Z51 vette would be nearer 2.50 .+, so considering that weight and height difference, the vette's not looking too flash, is it ?!
@arkhsm your telling me you wouldn't want the vette over the rustang? The vette beats it by a full second in the 1/4 mile and looks like an exotic car.
I had a 2012 Mustang 5.0 convertible and traded it in for a 2016 Corvette Z51 3LT. The Corvette is a much better car but getting in and out is a challenge although you get used to it. I also found that i got more tailgaters and people wanting to race than in the Mustang. I drove a Miata prht for a while and now I have just ordered the 2025 GT premium convertible with the performance package in the new Magenta red. I don’t expect it to be as good as the C8 corvette but it is very comfortable (i test drove a 2024) and plenty fast enough compared to my vintage MGA with 65 hp!
My mother just got the 23 Mustang GT & my brother has 22’ C8. FYI I drive 22 BRZ. We took all 3 on mountain twisty roads. So my ‘unbiased’ opinion is each has very different personalities. The Mustang is Gronk. Loud n Fun. With active exhaust that’s the party trick. It was fun great GT cruiser. No steering feel so drives like video game. C8 is Serious and wants you to drive it seriously. Definitely gives supercar vibes you feel you are in something special. So Mustang college drinking buddy you feel cool 😎 driving it. C8 serious athlete looking to win at anything. Interiors pretty equal in quality. MY BRZ is most communicative and you are driving it vs the computers in control. It’s the eager puppy. Yeah the interior is 1/3 of others. Cayman probably get closer if lightweight is your bag. Final thoughts is each of us has perfect car for each of us. Mom has GT cruiser she can feel cool & get her triple digit. My brother C8 is 2nd car for weekend/nights & track days. A lightweight RWD coupe is my heaven. Would say the C8 does temp me
Well said. I have vettes, always have (on my 7th), but the BRZ is the more fun car on the street since you can push it closer to it's limit without going immediately to jail or the morgue. I've owned mustangs and Gronk is a great way to put it. As a Jets fan I shall stay with vettes. HAHA
Let's be honest.. Most Mustang owners wish they had a Corvette... No Corvette owners wish they had a Mustang. The only Mustang owner that wouldn't take the Corvette over a Mustang, has never driven a Corvette. C6,C7 blows away the new Mustang in feel, fun & handling.
As far as the most expensive Mustang and the lowest cost C8, they're only close in the HP range I really don't see how they are direct competitors. One looks and drives like an exotic and one doesn't. I'm old school and I will always be a manual transmission guy in my performance cars....kudo's to the Mustang for still offering it.
^^ This! American made, rear wheel drive with a V8. Everyone knows the Mustang isn't the same animal as a Corvette. We thought it would be a fun comparison to make regardless! 😁 -Zach
@JoeZasada One is a track car and one is a muscle car best suited for straight-line speed. Only people who don't know cars say "performance" cars. All cars are designed to perform. It's as redundant as the term "sniper rifle." All rifles can be used by a sniper, thus making a rifle a sniper rifle when used in that way. Cars built for "performance" have different expectations such as rally, drifting, track, drag, and overlanding.
@@sammiches6859Of course they are different kinds of performance cars, but if someone only has enough money for one 'fun car' the corvette and the mustang are definitely in competition. I happen to like both, as do many.
@JoeZasada That's only the most basic and simplistic way to compare these cars. They are marketed for completely different demographics, and they are not in competition at all. Corvettes are for people who can't afford a McLaren or a Hennessey but want the attention. Mustangs are for people who want an affordable V8 reminiscent of classic American muscle cars.
Appreciate you giving the awesome Corvette a chance. I love my C7 and amazing piece of machinery and my wife loves her C6!! Mustang are nice but, Corvette handling is amazing!!
I would like your opinion of the 03 or 04 C5 Z06. They weigh 3100 lbs, manual transmission, 405 hp, 400 lb ft of torque, lower gearing than base and track tuned stiffer suspension. Yes, the interior isn’t great but you don’t see it when you are holding on tight and carving the next corner. It sits low and corners hard, is more raw and not as refined as later generations, I’ve heard.
I went from a 2016 Mustang GT to a 2022 Camaro SS 1LE and will keep it a while. Love the LT1 with the Tremec manual. As much as I like the C8, if I bought it my left foot would disown me.
I appreciate the comparison! I have a 2021 mustang GT and I’ve never considered purchasing a Corvette. And based on these comments, it seems some Corvette owners don’t appreciate the comparison at all! Socioeconomics and other factors would make me guess that most Mustang owners have probably never driven or even been a passenger a C7 or C8 Corvette. And that’s exactly what the Corvette owners want! If you’re driving a supercar, you don’t want to be compared to a lowly pony car.
I love the 5.0 but why is this even a comparison? The GT500 is more suited to this comparison but even then theyre apples to oranges and dont cross shop well.
Like comparing apples to oranges in my opinion, but the C8 is an impressive car. This is coming from a mustang owner. Mustang wins in overall utility, but for performance minded drivers, that C8 is amazing.
C8 is in another league. The camaro 1lt is a better track car lol!! 1/4 mile the sting ray beats the GT 500 on st tires. Maybe not slicks but it’s still very close. Mustang is a great car but its over priced compared to a vet. Overpriced compared to the ZL1 camaro.
Ya couldn’t agree more. My father just bought a 2LT stingray r when u really get up close and in person the C8 is just amazing. I have a gen 6 camaro great car but I really want a C8. My father paid $87k tax included the car u get for the money is just unbelievable. The ZL1 was what I wanted next but after my father bought the stingray all i can think about now. Hand built the interior is just amazing all fiberglass and carbon fiber aluminum frame mid engine nothing compares.
So I'm a mustang fan, and have been since the 80s. First ride was lx 5.0. love the car. Don't get me wrong love American cars especially the Corvette, as I'm not bias. In my opinion, the vett looks nicer inside while stang more aggressive outside. Some might have a different view and that's all fine. Down town or to the movies playing Lionel Richie, teddy pendergrass it's the vett definitely. On the way to the stadium Superbowl or grab case of Bud light with some heavy sweet music to make others jealous, it's the stang. Hell I love I'm both, and that's no joke.
They are in no way shape or form competitors. Ford is being greedy. The Mustang is simply overpriced now. And the Darkhorse is an absurdly overpriced Mustang GT, that marketing has been hyping! Its priced the same as a 2021, 760 HP, DCT transmission Shelby. That's just insane! And track times are okay since they paid for wins...and Ford also use the stickiest tires that you can buy for a road car. You'll have the Cars and Coffee group that will pay for it so they can sit their lawn chairs beside it, but Ford has lost their way. With options, even a GT Track Package is low 60's. With the poor (real world) performance and very poor assembly quality of the Mustang ,my money would be better spent on 2024 M2, Audi Rs3, Nissan Z, or C8. Not a Ford. People will argue and that's fine, but go to any dealership and look at the terrible headlight gaps. If that's not enough, go to the rear bumper-cover and checkout the ripples in the bumper.
Performance wise the Corvette is better. However, there's more to a car than just the numbers that are on paper. For me, there's more than just the performance on paper when considering a car. With that being said the Mustang has one thing that puts it above the Corvette for me, a manual transmission. There's something to be said for the full driving experience when it comes to rowing your own gears driving down the back roads.
Agree best comparison is camaro or challenger . Daughter had 2019 ecoboost loaded auto coupe . Liked it but had weird issues and Ford didn’t fix it random violent bucking issue 👎🏻 She traded it off on Suv . I have 2023 c8 Convertible loaded . Love the retractible hardtop don’t like soft tops. Love the cockpit and short guy but very wide and heavy 235 lbs . Five foot six lol . Fit fine . Am old 66 find car bit hard to get put of not too bad to get into . Love the squirkle wheel and the center button stack how it divides the cockpit and driver facing info screen . love the dash and love heads up display and built in trac recorder at my trim level use it as daily dash cam . Love external styling very Ferrari looking . Like mustang styling a lot also especially like a Gt 500 . Great breaks and handling and great ride with magnetic shocks . Exhaust electronic valve sounds decent but would maybe like better adjustable corsa . like corsa . 👍🏻 Luggage capacity is not great but at least have front and back areas and with convertible you don’t lose trunk space when top is down like some retractible hardtops . Good power great at hooking up even on street . Very stable car . Very solid car . Much better interior quality than my older 2008 and 2016 corvettes . wish had factory ambient color lighting . Otherwise love this car. Would love higher model . And can’t wait to see what c9 is like .😃 But if had more room dor cars would love to have a Gt500
This is our first and only time mentioning our S650 GT here, we have at least 6 or 7 videos on the main AM channel. Good try though and thanks for watching. 😁 -Zach
@@AmericanMuscleChevrolet yeah, I was being sarcastic. The S650 has been out for half a year and you've barely made any videos at all on it. Other channels have no problem making videos for the S650 but the channel called "American Muscle" apparently has a problem doing so.
The rear of the Corvette just needs the "black tip exhaust" option and it makes it night and day. Those silver ugly looking standard exhaust tips kills the rear look imho. I got my C8 with the black exhaust tips and it makes a world of a difference and this is also more of a taste but yes, the Z51 spoiler or the high wing makes the rear look much better too. I've gotten used to the launch on the C8 now and I think I have it down. My first run was something like a 3.5 or 3.6 then on the next couple runs I actually got it down to 2.9 as they advertised but after a few more tries lately, I got it down to 2.6 on a completely stock Z51 C8. I will probably make a video to upload of it next time I do it, I only got a picture of the result for now but I'm not the only one, I've seen several people get 2.6 or 2.7 or 2.8. I've noticed since there's so much push back when launching it that I realized that sometimes, without even knowing, your foot comes off the gas a little making your time slower since you are not fully WOT. This is my first Corvette and I am very impressed with it, couldn't be more happy with it. I've owned several sports cars, front engine/rwd and the experience with the C8 is absolutely different, I guess it really gives you the supercar feeling and it is friggin' awesome!
The Mustang being way overpriced doesn’t make it a C8 competitor. The Vette will embarrass the Mustang in any metric you can imagine. The Mustang honestly is still inferior to the now dead Camaro, if you don’t believe it look at any comparison from C&D, MT etc. Camaro has always had a superior chassis, handling and driver feedback.
None of that matters in a muscle car. If the Mustang wasn't superior, the Camaro wouldn't have been canceled. Both GM and Chrysler made inferior products yet again, and now the superior option is the only option.
@@sammiches6859 clearly you aren’t into the facts. Look up reviews, the Camaro is a better sports car than the Mustang, better handling, steering feedback and chassis. People like you that don’t care about handling characteristics will buy a Mustang instead because it is a softer car and that’s what the masses prefer, that doesn’t make it better that just means most people are soft.
I thought Corvette were around 100k these days, but I could be wrong. You can get a v8 Mustang for low 40s though, so I don't know that they compare. I have a V8 Mustang and it's plenty fast for me. Could use better steering feel. It's not in the same league as the Corvette.
Recently bought a 2024 Mustang love it so far. I like the looks of the C8 but no manual is a bummer so to me the C7 manual is better. However the C7 still has a heavy price tag for clean low miles 50K or more. So it made sense to buy the new Mustang I like them both.
I have a 2023 C8 convertible much like the one you drove except for the GM Borla exhaust option. I miss a Manual trans. So I picked up a 2012 Boss 302 with only 7000 miles on her. Now I’ve got the best of both worlds. But the C8 is so much more capable car and you can put the top down. $70K vs $32K and the boss is at its very bottom price wise. Only to increase over time. Because they only made 3200 in 2012 and 3400 in 2013. That’s it. The C8 is over 125,000 made to date. So depreciation is going to happen.lucky for me this is my 6th C8 and made a lot of money during the pandemic with these cars plus the new Shelby GT500. All in I have less then $20K in the C8 because of all the trades that were made.
you have to use sports mode to get higher rpm instead of the limited one in track mode when launching. Try is again and you should get 3500rpm instead of the limited 1500.
(stingray) You can actually use the seat controls to move the seat back and be fully comfortable. I'm your height, but lighter and my legs are completely fine with room to spare.

The part where it goes into a car crusher.

You have watched A night at the Roxbury way to many times
Dope review man
Excellent commentary.
Lol
Actually the C8 does not have a torque tube running down the middle. It’s all behind you.

Yeah, honest slip-up there. Meant to say backbone- but my point still remains. -Justin

I am 6’4” and there is not claustrophobic at all in the C8 and love how it’s a driver oriented cockpit!!
Just out of curiosity, what color is your interior?
Interesting I am the same height and though I really loved the idea of getting a vette both the C7 & C8 were much too tight for me. I guess I am just used to the extra room in the Mustang
I actually rented these on back to back california road trips for a week each off turo. Despite their heritage, they are very different cars nowadays. The mustang still has a muscle car identity, but with the flick of a switch it can also be a comfortable daily driver. The corvette feels more like a european supercar, but also comfortable for daily driving
I'm a Mustang guy. I have a 21 Mach 1. I drove the C8 Corvette at Speed Vegas and in my opinion the Vette is more refined.
Appreciating both for what they are while they're still here is the right answer! Thanks you guys for watching!! -Zach
How car you compare a mustang and a Corvette?
That's like comparing an off shore boat to a fishing boat..
And EVERY automotive tester raves about the Camaros chassis...

If you get a base Mustang, it's not a bad deal. I got mine for 42k, and the Corvette isn't available at that price.
I have both. Two whole different types of vehicles and two whole different price ranges.
Awesome that you get so experience both vehicles! They're different beasts, for sure. We just thought it would be a fun comparison! -Zach

I wonder if it’s like my C6? Simply pull the fuse out for the exhaust butterflies?
2.7 on the built in timer is meaningless. I did 2.65 on the PDR timer and there is zero chance that number is real.

Great point! Thanks for watching! -Zach

Correct me if I’m wrong but wouldn’t the GT and Camaro be a better comparison or the GT 500 to the Corvette?
Camaro is gone he mentioned that
A Mustang is a pony car, the Camaro was beating it. Another ponycar. The Vette is just a different animal, and it's a true supercar now.
With a super price.
Camaro beat nothing
@@josemontes9105Ride is a ZL1 Camaro and you’ll see!
If the corvette was a true super car it wouldn’t be dropping its price like it’s been doing
Both great cars. I have a Mustang GT. Love it. But I certainly wouldn't complain about adding a C8 to my stable.
First of all, the Vette isn't a muscle car. Of course it's better than a Mustang. The proper comparison would be the Mustang vs the Camaro (SS & ZL1), and maybe the Dodge to some extent.
There is no torque tube. Secondly, I'm 6'3" 245 lbs and just finished a 6 hr road trip. The C8 is as comfortable as my Genesis was.
-Zach
Yes, you are correct. The Vette can be marked up, and people will pay it. The Mustang not so much.
I own A, 2023 C8 HTC Corvette and I had 3 Mustang GTs before, a 2007 , 2011 and a 2015 and I loved all of them but I would not go back. Love my C8.

-Zach

One is a Vette, one is a FORD. I considered the Dark House, only cause if the manual option. Glad I went c8!
I LOVED the C8 seats. They are a game changer. I'm only 5' 10" though. The C8 is cery fast, and the brakes were amazing.

I have said this over and over again. Ford need to bring a sports car that is mid engine to the game to compete on the level the Corvette is at.

Haha, says who..?
Facts! I was about to get a mustang until I drove the c8 and was blown away
I am a Ford guy that bought a C8 and love it, wish Ford would bring out an affordable mid engine car, but i won't hold my breath on that happening
I own a 2022 Mach 1 and a 2022 Z51 C8. There is no comparison for speed, the C* blows the Mach away. That said, the Mach is still fun to drive.
I pulled the same exact 0-60 * 3.72 on my 2024 mustang GT performance pack
Was it the 10 speed auto? I am going to assume so but just confirming. 😁
Both are performance cars competing for market share in that space, and both are among the very few remaining V8 cars you can buy
Thanks for watching!! -Zach
Nice review!
Thanks for watching!! -Zach
Not even close to being a competitor with the C8 come on drive a dark horse and it’s not even close. Lucky enough to have a C8 also please
I went from a 2016 Mustang GT to a 2022 Camaro SS 1LE and will keep it a while. Love the LT1 with the Tremec manual. As much as I like the C8, if I bought it my left foot would disown me.
Thanks for watching!! Yeah, the automatic would be a deal breaker for some. I get it! -Zach
Then it will disown you as you age.
I have both. Sloppy is the best way to put it. The Corvette is at another level for not much more money.
Bull shit
Because there is no 2024 GT500. -Justin
@@americanmuscle I understand that but these cars are in two different price brackets and 2 different classes.
Like comparing apples to oranges in my opinion, but the C8 is an impressive car. This is coming from a mustang owner. Mustang wins in overall utility, but for performance minded drivers, that C8 is amazing.
Great point! Thanks for watching, Dean! -Zach
Even the Camaro is in another league vs mustang, but too bad it is no longer available.
Not even close on preformance. That mustang gets beat in 60 time, roll races and quarter mile. I appreciate the mustang for what it is though.
I missed the part where you showed the 0-60 for the mustang, I imagine it atleast cracked mid 5's
We did a video on that here!! ruclips.net/video/7q4mQt6d0WM/видео.html -Zach
Luggage capacity is not great but at least have front and back areas and with convertible you don’t lose trunk space when top is down like some retractible hardtops .
Good power great at hooking up even on street .
Very stable car .
Very solid car .
Much better interior quality than my older 2008 and 2016 corvettes .
wish had factory ambient color lighting .
Otherwise love this car. Would love higher model .
And can’t wait to see what c9 is like .😃
But if had more room dor cars would love to have a Gt500
You've got more S650 videos on this channel than you do on the American Muscle channel. 🙄
It's true. Weird how American Muscle doesn't make any s650 videos but the other car channels do 🤔
The rear of the Corvette just needs the "black tip exhaust" option and it makes it night and day.
It’s a shame here in Mexico Dark Horse non TP is 70k and corvette LT3 z51 (the only version they sell here) is 140k and that’s Porsche 911 GTS money.
Dodge hell cat sound so much better
Is the c8 a good daily?
It's a good driver. Saw one the other day that was dirty, guy drives it in good and bad weather.
Yeah...I have 41k smiles on my 2021 C8! Also great on gas mileage LOL
Yes, very good ride on regular roads. Great for commuting & long road trips.
4 round taillights are missing, other than that the rear on the C8 is fine.
There isn't a torque tube in the C8. The e-Ray is the only model to utilize that area filling it with batteries.
Very nice review! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!! -Zach
Why buy fully optioned mustang buy the 42k base one. Looks good works perfect and save 30k
Did he just say the mustang is in the same class as the C8? 😒
I did not- I say they deserve to be in the same conversation based on price and power. -Justin
Definitely not the same class, apples to oranges lol
Not so much!😂
The C8 looks like it was a toy left behind by some alien space ship.
Soooo, what was the 0-60 on the mustang? That road surface looked pretty gnarly...
