I'll admit I was skeptical of this channel's content post-move seeing as you wouldn't be actively reselling but this is great. Being able to see how other successful stores operate without having to do any of the leg work myself is super useful. I do men's clothing full-time and have a 90 day 100% sell through rate on my store so it's possible I was one of those wood background stores you mentioned!
This was easily the most helpful video I've seen. I wish I'd had this info when I first started selling on ebay. I'm happy to say that my ebay store checks 100% of the boxes you just put out there. Only took me 3 years to get there lol .This is really badass. Thanks!

You are, by far, my favorite RUclipsr for reselling info. You are clear, humble and easy to understand. Your ability to analyze Ebay info is unbelievable! You should work for the government or a large company with those skills! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I’m thinking about your comments on the description of items. I called eBay the other day to ask a couple questions and the fella, and I started to discuss item views, and how to increase those organically. He said to fill out as much of the item description as possible. I literally fill out every section with something the best that I can and I don’t know that it’s helping.
same! I chatted with an ebay person and asked about algorithm. They said the most important thing is filling out as many item SPECIFICS as possible above all else
Love Love Love, this is my goal with clothing sales. Whenever I get an offer (even lowball) I remind myself it is just used clothing. I also pay very little for my inventory in a weirdly rural area with a large Naval Air base. Lots of high paid contratcors who donate their business work clothes. I try to turn my entire closet within 3 months to match seasonality. Definitely prefer selling mens clothes to womens and Matt you are the King of information!

I’ve been an eBay seller since 1998, went full time in 2004, added Amazon in 2016, grew to the point of up to 5 employees, etc etc. That beloved huge volume, small profit per piece model. Due to a number of factors including supply chain issues during COVID, backhanded Amazon tactics (too many to list here), we’ve had to adapt our models. So over the past year, I went back to what I love doing, the thrill of the hunt - antiques, collectibles, vintage etc. I also do a lot of clothing consignment pop-up shows. Even though I literally have decades of experience in this space, your insight and menswear brand knowledge, sell-through analysis techniques have been so enlightening to me! A couple lessons I can share about this business to anyone reading this - adapt or die, and NEVER stop learning!
I finally found out where the GW bins where near the border in SD. I struggle with the idea of putting coupon codes in my store because I already accept offers, and run frequent 20% off sales on everything in my store.
I don't understand why EB (et al) insist that we cut our prices just to sell more merchandise. Cutting the price means they don't get as much %commission.
If a buyer makes an offer they can't use the coupon. If they use the coupon they can't make an offer. If you make them an offer they can't use the coupon. Test drive a coupon for a week. You can even select which items to offer it on, you don't have to do your whole store. Test drive it and see how much more money you make. Trust me. Also, the psychology of the buyer is highly biased towards using a coupon to save the 20% versus seeing a markdown. The unconscious assumption is that the markdown is just bringing it down to "what it's supposed to be" The coupon gives them the rush of seeing the price drop before their eyes. Coupons are superior.
@@Chicago48 If you run a coupon you will make more sales and make more money, therefore Ebay makes more money. If you run promotions, ditto. Ebay knows this and therefore that's why they do it. It's a multi-billion dollar company, do you think they're stupid?
@@helpfulcommenter ahh. Thanks for the reply! Would you then recommend stopping my 20% off markdown sales and trying the coupon instead? I only have 200ish followers to my store. People have to actually look at the store to see the coupon, right?
@@lf2334 yeah that's how it works. as long as people are searching for what you're selling they see your coupon right there on the listing. just do a one-week experiment, end your markdown sale and run a coupon, see if it makes a difference. what's the worst that could happen? you make more sales? lol go for it.
I legitimately don't have that many bad brands literally my worst brand is Columbia everything else is Patagonia Arc'teryx KUHL prAna Carhartt Ariat etc and no one cares about my stuff
The economy has crashed there are so many NWT or “NWOT” great items now available due to oversupply/ saturation combined w/ extremely lower or flat-line demand! When ppl are one car payment away from the repo guy, one mortgage payment from eviction: foreclosure, CC’s maxed out, no savings… who really “needs” the crap (really good crap) we’re selling dirt cheap? The what not & posh shows, etc have forced the issue too… it’s a race to the bottom. I think Chris saw it coming a year ago and in a gutsy, savvy way pivoted and liquidated, and joined (now apparently leads the field) with auction pricing…
We too favor sourcing ALL those brands (not Columbia unless it’s NWT inherently desirable and cheap enough), and I figuratively quake in my boots seeing it still in our possession as long as it has lately, and not on some new owners’ back or bottom…😮
@@helpfulcommenter Louisiana. Goodwill isn't really an option here. I've been going to yard sales. Got a bad birdie polo and some Nike golf shirts. That's about it.

The coupon gives them the rush of seeing the price drop before their eyes.
Hello my brother
KNOWLEDGE
Showing measurements in photos really helps prevent buyers from saying "item not as described".
You'd think so until I got an INAD lol. They sent me pictures of a tape measure with a DIFFERENT measurement. It made no sense
@@mikec3949 Lol, that happened to me one time as well,...they said I didn't pull the fabric tight enough when measuring
"It's kind of gray hat", says the guy wearing a gray hat.
I just don't understand where people find these brands? I'd love to sell the top brands but they aren't out here.
where do you live
@@helpfulcommenter Louisiana. Goodwill isn't really an option here. I've been going to yard sales. Got a bad birdie polo and some Nike golf shirts. That's about it.
@@qwerty70403 Hey Bad Birdie ain't too shabby! I've never found it myself. Like rural Louisiana? Everywhere has thrifts. if you're super rural you might have to drive to the more urban areas....
Some use their auto pilot of dependence on their genetics. Others go above and beyond. World of difference between the two. Just saying. 👍
