It's a misconception, Dave Allen didn't drink on stage at all. It was ginger Ale in the glass, he let people assume it was whiskey for comic affect.
Dave Allen was a legend. Very popular here in Australia too. You should also check out some oh his comedy skits.
Best irish comedian by a long way. Try his adam and eve skit or his relegious stand up. He has a bit of material on youtube but most of his earlier stuff was banned in ireland the uk and Australia.
If you like that you must watch Dave on religion,and how to teach your child about reading clock...hillarious stuff,all that pc rules watered down comedy,even if one tells the most innocent joke there will be some offended pricks for no reason whatsoever
